#27636, "Article 9 of the Paladin Code"

"Respect the laws of the land and those that enforce them"

It has happened to me more than once that a paladin has summoned me into e.g. the locked room in Galadon and wrathed me to death. I think it's ####. How is it 'respecting' a law to openly break it in such an obvious manner?

Any imms want to comment?

It's happened a total of 5 times in the last 6 months.

I do believe it is possible to respect the laws, even if you have to break them.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

As far as I know, there is only one Imm that forces her paladins to interpret that rule in the way that they can't break the law, ever.

Most of them leave that open to interpretation, somewhat.

However, all of my Paladins, regardless of Imm, turn themselves in after committing a crime. Or at the very least, admit to it when asked.

I know at least 3, and I believe there are more. I know I've personally had a problem with it with a different imm than you're talking about. I broke the law once in 100 hours and a real life month and got de-powered for it. No chance to explain why this one time was chosen, nothing. Was very disheartening.

I'd argue that any paladin's behavior with regard to the laws, and breaking them, should be noticeably different from "random good guy" or he's not following that part of the code.

So maybe he breaks the law, but only under "extreme circumstances", such as to save someone's life. Just as an example.

It may be the case that "summoning random probably-not-all-that-beefy guy into the hidden room and wrathing him down because, hey, he happened to be in Galadon" doesn't qualify as "extreme circumstances".
