#27576, "Did somebody say Pumpkins?"
|
It's a little known fact that a certain Immortal has a secret fetish for the cute little gourds. It's true. What unlikely Immortal could this be?
Tune in this evening for the fun and mayhem as mortal adventurers are given a chance to either save the day or ruin someone's Halloween pumpkin feast! Approximate kick off time: 9pm central/10pm eastern. (That's 9pm game time)
This will be an epic world wide scavenger hunt open to all ages. Your level 1 ranger will have just as much chance as your 51st level lich to find the pumpkins.
Top winners will be rewarded accordingly.
Good luck and see you tonight!
G.

That's more than most people get in their lifetime of the character.

There are 143 entries in the PK stats on Dios with 8000 XP or greater, and most of them are recent; within the last 5 years. Splntrd

Considering the regulation on role experience, etc....not to mention you're talking about 143 characters in five years. How many total characters were there in five years?
And this is still from a single event, that's a huge amount.
Just proves statistics mean ####.

Statistics only mean #### when you completely ignore them.
Seriously, 8k over a lifetime is NOT that hard. Sure, it might seem like a lot all in one go, but any well-played long-lived character will beat that easily.
I've had two Heralds within the last year, one played to 53 hours with 4600xp and another to 130 with 6400xp, and I'm by no means an exceptional player. I don't feel like the Imms been skimpy with the Imm XP lately at all, nor should they be.
Don't piss on a good thing. Splntrd

...I was just surprised at the amount. I could see giving away an edge or two, maybe the top winner gets something nifty like an item/tattoo/walking description/etc. I'm all for the uniqueness of rewards..
8000 immortal experience just seems like a guy going up to the guildmaster like a shopkeeper. "Ok, I'd like that, that....that. Oh yeah, might as well have that". It'd be like winning 100,000 gold.
Just so we're clear, I'm not bashing the reward or the contest or anything done - I love them when I can be there (sadly I wasn't) and thank the Immortals for the effort. Just seems like a big reward for pumpkins - that's a huge amount (in context compared to most people).

FWIW, I doubt you could buy two edges based on that reward alone, unless one of them was something like strong back and the other was also something cheapish.

I always thought immexp was worth more than exp/obs experience in relation to edges....maybe it's a perception thing but I thought you could get way more with 8k.

The full and detailed answer is complicated, but, yeah. Tossing out 8k immXP, edge-wise, is not as big of a deal as you'd guess.

Tinsalaop is a conjurer, so he just casts locate pumpkin, then tesserects to the location. Easy way to gain lots of them. Looking at the list, only Ilvo, a ranger, got any as a character without some form of locate. Unless blessed divination did not work, then Dupmasione did not have it either. But you have a conjurer, shifter, a transmuter, two shamans, and I think Ilsamael is a mage of some sort as well.
Don't really mind that some people tore this event up and got lots of IMM xp. I am happy to see Imms taking some time to run these fun things but I would think for future ones make them non-detectable/locateable. Some warrior had little to no chance of getting any, since he has to know where they are based on the clue, and then also get the thing, and be able to kill the mob if it was held. Meanwhile A 51 conjurer can go all over thera with ease, and kill most anything that might stand in his way. Not much different for a duo'd transmuter except they have to run to them. Then they get them and duo, so nobody can pk them for the pumpkins, which at least the others guys were in danger of to a degree.
