But for all practical purposes, it often amounts to no useful lag.

Why nerf a savage caverndweller's bearcharge? I played a hunter, and understood why their bearcharge was toned down, but I don't get it in this case.

I've played a caverndweller and killed people with it, FWIW.

I've killed people with only kick, FWIW.
A savage has few combat moves, and I see one move being basically removed. In creating this char I saw no reason for bearcharge to be weakened. It's a freaking giant savage caverndweller. Why wouldn't bearcharge be nasty?
Do I need to play every ranger I roll to level 30 to find out if one of their few tactics works? How about a hint in the help files? If it works differently, maybe it should have a different name?

I love rangers and have played a number of them. I think I understand most of the new subtleties but never been able to nail down cavedweller bearcharge. What I know:
It's one round lag to use It provides some lag to the opponent. As of this thread it seems 'often not useful lag' so I'm guessing like half a round? Maybe different factors go into it? Can small races bearcharge more effectively with it?
Not to mention... why? I don't see the race/class choices or other cavedweller skills unbalancing a normal bearcharge. Except maybe fire giant cavedweller, but fire rangers are so limited and (IMO) nerfed that a little boon wouldn't hurt.
Well, any additional info would be appreciated.

Much like bearcharge lag for everyone else, it varies.
If you assume that because they bearcharge with half the normal lag to themselves, they inflict basically half the normal lag to their opponent, you won't be far off.
If you don't understand why in a lot of cases that wouldn't be useful, that's a longer discussion than I have time for right now, but I'm not adverse to having it.
