#24965, "New command: Pledge"
|
Syntax: pledge <cabal outer guardian> pledge none reject <player>
Pledging to a cabal makes your intentions clear that you wish to join a specific groups cause. You must be at least level 15 to make a pledge to a Cabal. The Cabal Leaders will hear when you arrive and when you leave the Realm, and you will hear when the Cabals outer guardian comes under attack. You are only allowed to pledge to a single cabal, so make your choice wisely. You cannot pledge to the Battle cabal and must speak with Tahren to become a Village Applicant. You cannot pledge to the Empire cabal and must speak with the Imperial Recruiter or a member to take the Blood Oath.
If you wish to renounce a pledge you've made you can 'pledge none'. You will however not be allowed to make another pledge. This will not bar you from joining another cabal, but will force you to speak to the Leaders about your past and why you changed your mind about your path in life.
Cabal Leaders will be able to do 'who applicant' and see who is currently online and has pledged to their Cabal. If a Cabal Leader deems an applicant unfit, they are able to 'reject <player>'. This is the equivalent to the applicant doing 'pledge none'.
The Cabalwars command will show the number of true members of the Cabal, along with the number of applicants to the Cabal.

Fantastic idea!
Is there a different syntax for the Fort? Or are all potential Acolytes and Maran considered the same?

This is one of those changes that I never actually considered as a possibility, but it's a HUGE improvement over the current system.
Whoever's idea it was, well done.
I agree with Isildur, it not only makes it easier for the applicant, it really helps out the Leader. I know I've had a hard time scrolling through 70 names on who list, trying to pick names out from a list of apps.
One request though, is there any way we could have Cabal MEMBERS do a "who applicant"? I can't see a downside, and it seems like it might help out when Leaders aren't around, so members can still give rec's, or ask for help in raiding/retrieving and just generally offer/ask for help.

Yup!
>Whoever's idea it was, well done.
Marcatis brought it up during our Immortal Staff meeting, and I helped flesh it out and code it up. >I agree with Isildur, it not only makes it easier for the >applicant, it really helps out the Leader. I think this will definitely take a bit of the burden off of Leaders (though the additional messages on logon/logout may be a bit of a burden...deal with it

Hadn't really thought of that, I'll kick it around with the others and see what happens. So long, and thanks for all the fish!

I personally don't see it replacing it, but complimenting it (as in, my mortals will likely still be sending notes to the cabal, but who knows what the leaders will do with that note). So long, and thanks for all the fish!
