Is it turning you into a decent tank? Is your familiar out too much of a liability? Any logs?

I played a mid-bie ap recently who I left to auto, but he ranked up with an evil conjie. That evil conjie's familiar was able to tank mobs that we were killing for 800 exp or so per pop. Typically the familiar would tank for a couple, then I (an ap) would do one, then the thief (I think) would do one, the familiar a third, and then we'd rest. The familiar was a pretty good tank, even before he took warded familiar edge (which I didn't really notice the difference from). But maybe the conjie did.

Still to be decided, but I was hoping for a slightly more noticeable affect. Now, warded familiar and warrior familiar are wonderful but it depends on the player. I like to utilize the familiar directly in pk and for tactical reasons... some people like it purely for pve. There are some familiars that I probably wouldn't bother taking one or the other for it if I got them.
