#24131, "Good Conjurers Conjuring Bad Things"

This has always been a curiosity to me.

You have a good conjurer binding, say, a nightgaunt and then sending it on some evil fool.

Strictly from the RP perspective, I just see it as someone good thinking he can control something evil and putting it to good use against a dark enemy. Kinda like using Hannibal Lecter to catch Cowboy Bob, though they kept him under lock and key.

I could see an argument both for and against the use of mephits and nightgaunts. How about you all?

to hirself, after the recent events in the Order of the Stick online comic play out.

For those with no clue what I'm talking about, it's a big comic, spanning several years, but the recent story arc which involves a neutral mage making a deal with the devil (and a demon and some other sort of hellspawn, actually) for the power to do good (save hir family) starts here:

I also recommend Erfworld, also on the www.giantitp.com site.

(They mention it in comic 633)

Oddly enough, I never paid enough attention to realize Varsuvius was neutral. I always figured s/he was an elf, so was good. Bah, Raistlin'll always be the baddest neutral-mage-with-the-good-guys guy ever!

You can potentially write/play a viable good aligned conjurer role that uses evil servitors.

However, this character can't be in Fortress.

I think they should be able to, but the imms have said repeatedly that goodies constantly using evil servitors will be punished in some form. One of the arguments I always get from people is "what if it broke loose from your control and killed a bunch of innocents?". Despite the fact this has NEVER happened. I see them as a tool with a very predictable behavior pattern. It could be argued this is because of game mechanics, but it could also be argued that it is because of limits placed on the creature by the spell. I'm all for it, but I don't think the imms will ever go for it.
