I've got a thief who has joined a guild and thus had their hometown moved to match the town. Now I'm considering joining Tribunal, but someone ingame told me there would be problems if I do, since tribs keep changing their hometown each time they're stationed elsewhere, possibly resulting in me losing access to my guild and potentially even losing my donations.

Could an Imm look into this and see if either my life as a tribunal or a guilded thief will be ruined by the combination? I don't want to lose all the gold I've donated to the guild so far, since it has taken a good deal of effort.

I've had two thief guild leaders in Tribunal, and you're right that there are problems.

My first thief 3 years ago could be relocated to any city but was not able to blackball other thieves unless he was assigned to the city of his guild (Hamsah). That made it tough to weed out the people that didn't want to follow my rules, but since I eventually made Provost it didn't matter too much.

So, my second thief in Tribunal was last year, and I became a guild leader of Dagdan while I was already a magistrate on duty in Voralian City. As a result, I could not be reassigned to any other cities because the code mistakingly thought my guild was in Voralian. My only chance at a promotion after hitting Voralian was skipping Galadon and going to Provincial magistrate, although I ended up deleting before that happened due to other reasons.

I'm betting the second scenario is still in effect, since several imms were scratching their heads when they couldn't reassign me. Expect to have a tough time juggling your duties as a crime boss and respectable peace officer, even if it does finally get sorted out.

I've never been in Tribunal, but I thought the town you were stationed to didn't actually have to be your hometown.

In a bit same way it does when you join a thieves guild.
