Someone make a CF poster and have a link to it so anyone where they are can print out a couple of copies onto a4 and stick them up near where they are. I can't draw to save my life, but maybe there's a kind soul who would be willing to volunteer their services...

I don't feel the numbers are that bad especially compared to other muds but I can't help but feel the game itself is still geared towards there being 80+ people at all times. There are some cases in the game where you need IMMs or specific characters inorder to advance or achieve something. This ultimately makes the game feel like there are less people and further narrows the options for those of us who's RL lives keep us from dedicating more then two or three hours ever other night if we are lucky. My own time has really become limited so i don't really have the patience for empowerment classes, or being religious, finding new wand locations or joining cabals who are demanding and/or have obscure leaders.
I'll agree that gimicks like double xp weekends won't quite cut it however I'd really like to see changes being made to the game that maximize the fun for those people with one an hour or two to spare couple times a week. I'd like to see three player group XP bonuses be made to include two people. Maybe more induction policies similar to empire or battle being put in (i like mages). I haven't had time to make a character since the new dragon lairs came in so i'm not sure but i hope they are explorable with 'groups' of two. In the time it would take to gather a decent group to go do something i'd be more inclined to opt out and get an extra hour of sleep before work the next day.
Again its not like the game doesn't offer some options but some of them aren't really options i personally feel are fun enough to want to invest my time in, but i'm sure many other will feel differently but thats alright too.

This is from today at 4:45 central time:
There are 46 characters on. The most on today was 66.
Granted it's not the 80+ we would like to see, but, these are the numbers I have been observing fairly steadily.

I was more a newbie, but dropping a "who pk" at hero and seeing 30-40ish people in that range alone was nice. You dont stop playing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop playing.

Have it where others can download it and post it at places such as: Universities, Gaming Clubs, Gaming Stores, etc.
CF staffers: MAKE A LINK! That if followed gives a special newbie intro to CF. Maybe give them the option of playing a level 30ish character in an a special area where they can experiment with the skills and stuff. Level 30 is where characters are diverse enough to be fun! Yes area is outside /inaccessible to CF proper but still accessible to the newbie chat.
Said link should be in a "poster" style we can add to signatures, emails, or the like.
Have MORE fun events. About 1 a month would be great to let the newbies see fun stuff going on.
Cheers, Arzzra.

You're right; more players would be nice. Please go round some up.

You guys should make a conference call with at least two or three Imm Staff representatives who can and will get things moving, and people like Stunna.
Voices carry more weight than text, I think.

...double experience brought a lot of people. My guess is if you did a 1.5 experience *and* learning weekend, you'd get a lot more people with the quality included.

Dunno how that is done, though. It would be ideal if the xp would be based on the actual challenge of fighting the mob. There should be a permanent solution, not just increased xp weekend.

After it was brought up on Dio's I think.
Each class has an xp modifier based on level. The most useful ones would have a 0 modifier. The classes modifiers would go up as their usefullness went down. Something like:
Warrior, bard, healer, transmuter, assassin, paladin, ranger: 0 Conjurer below 20: .15 Conjurer after 20: 0 Necromancer: .25 Thief: .5
(These numbers are just made up as an example)
Then your group just gets bonus XP based on who is in it. That way it makes sub-optimal group members more attractive.
Might have to be on a sliding scale based on how many "good" group members you have. Three thieves in a group each get the .5 modifier, but a thief with two warriors only gets 1/3 of that or something.

Honestly I do not believe gimmicky idea like this will increase the playerbase much if at all in the long run. The double exp weekend did get a lot of people to log on but how many of those were new players? How many of those were vets that returned who are still playing now that sometime has passed?
Making generic attempts like double exp weekend more common IMO will quickly get to a state where they are not exciting and not eoncouraging players to log on in larger numbers because they will lose their novelty.

The 1.5x exp for every weekend is sure going to bump up the numbers and entice the veteran players to jump in. I, for one, was tempted to roll up a char if it hadn't been for a planned family outing.
I mean with wife and kid and job, it's going to be hard to settle down on a character and enjoy the game, let alone grinding and pk.

Specifically, 1-25/30, are such an ugly prospect that I can't bring myself to get past it. I've made multiple attempts but the sheer mind-####ing boredom of that notion puts me off. Way off.
