#22729, "Mob aggro flaw idea"

There have been times where in someone's role some person has been exiled from some location in Thera, such as city. What I'd like to see as immersion and roleplay aide would be a set of new flaws where mobs in certain area are hostile towards the character with the chosen flaw. Few examples of such flaws:

  • Enemy of Galadon: Guard mobs in Galadon and Galadonian patrollers are hostile towards the PC with this flaw. Shopkeepers in Galadon refuse to trade with the PC. Same can be applied for other cities as different flaws.

  • Enemy of Civilization:All mobs treat the PC as if he was WANTED.

I hope some off this will be picked up and used in some way.

Always shoot first and then call whatever you hit the target.

My issue with it is that, for outlanders, it is effectively a bunch of free edge points.

So aggro cityguards are a nuicance if you have to go retrieve, especially in low-mid ranks. But granted, it is more convenient for them than for other, unrelated characters. Most of the people taking the flaw would be Outlanders. You could also make the enemy flaws mutually exclusive, so that you can only pick one town that tossed you out or that the number of edge points gained would be reduced.

Also, the flaw is pretty harsh for newbie chars and could be set to kick in at level 10 or something, with an echo that announces that you're no longer welcome to X.

Too lazy to search though, but I was under the impression that other than a roleplaying foil, there was absolutely no benefit of selecting flaws.

I think I've been pretty clear about that and I'm sorry if I haven't been.

However, they're always a bad trade. For example, picking the "No Undead" flaw as a necromancer (which is hefty and essentially removes about 10 spells/skills from your list) might give you enough credit to buy something cheaper like "Battlemage Training."

Which, from a purely mechanical perspective, is an awful, awful, awful trade.

But they do yield some edge points. So, there's a slight benefit, but for minmaxer, the cons always outweigh the pros.

Enemy of Yourself: Increases all lag by a small amount.

Furthermore, I think Seantryn Modan must be destroyed.

Enemy of the Divine: the pantheon takes your atheism personally.

Enemy of the Divine: Priests take your atheism personally and will not serve you. Effect: Cannot use town healers/heal command disabled. Atheist might be a better name for the flaw.

Enemy of Yourself: Increases all lag by a small amount.

You can probably think of a better name for this. This isn't effectively an enemy edge, it's about you being phlegmatic or something.
