But is it, or is it not, ok to connect your current character to your forum identity? (here or on the other site)

I've always thought this was extreme bad form, and I've heard that at least one char was denied for this...

And I cheered.

But recently, someone *snip* on that other site has been posting about his current char. Although, he might have been outed by another person who named the char *snip*....but he continues to post about his char.

Is it ok or is it not ok?

Generally at least a warning, possibly more depending on how much it's happened.

Of course, like any rules violation, report it via pray or email, not via public accusations.

Depends on what they do. I have never seen a good someone who outs themselves on any board get an attaboy in the PBF for doing so. There have been times where they get booted for doing something stupid in the posts and times where they are just beaten up a bit in the PBF.

As people are responsible for their own actions. However, I can see a few downsides for this kind of behaviour, mostly the negative effect for people's immersion created by knowing who plays the other guy. At Dio's, we usually delete posts revealing the player if we think that it's accidental.

I mean, can you think of any situation in which you wouldn't want to know the reputation of the player behind a character before investing your own play in interactions with that character? Or in which you wouldn't want to revise your opinion of the player based on how they actually play?

I can see it hurting *snip*, should either his reputation or character not live up to the other. But I don't understand how it could hurt anyone else. If he were trying to abuse OOC info in some way, he'd have been better served by not calling attention to himself.

Furthermore, I think Seantryn Modan must be destroyed.

Briefly, we want those reputation to be formed through interactions, not due to true or false allegations on the forums, or the actions of their past characters.
