keep your account alive? per day? per week?
keep your items from crumbling (non-limited)?
so you're not butt naked when you do log in...

It's been about 4 years since i've stepped into the fields.
i'd like to start again, but don't want an IMM to get PO because i can't play like 5 hrs/day or something like that.

So far I have had 1 (one) limited item taken by the hoarding code, and I am perfectly fine with that.

You can have a break of several weeks and still have your character. The game will purge your character if you haven't logged in for 30 days.

Except for getting allies you should have no trouble being a casual player. However, if you enjoy interaction, it might be hard to "start anew" every other week, if you play rarely.

I play mostly to PK, so once a week works fine for me.

As far as losing a pfile entirely, from 'help autodelete':
"You have one week of not playing at level 1 before you will delete, and you have two weeks of not playing from level 2 through 10 before you will autodelete. Levels 11 and up have the standard 30 day deletion."

Non-limited items do not crumble. You'll always have those.

Limited items may crumble after excessive disuse. In any case, the 'outfit' command can be used to obtain basic equipment gear under several circumstances-- see 'help outfit' in the sidebar or in the game.

i'd like to start again, but don't want an IMM to get PO because i can't play like 5 hrs/day or something like that.

We have a large number of casual players. You may get a skewed perspective from our forums-- most of the common participants are people who play frequently, as with nearly any game. But if you scan through logins and characters, you see a lot of characters who play a couple times a week or so.

I'll periodically do a sweep through my two cabals, especially if they're getting overcrowded, and boot the people who are generally more interested in playing other characters than the one they have in my cabal. If, however, I see someone who only has one character or plays one main character and can only play here and there I have zero problems with that person, and actually will usually try and target that person for a little extra attention.

I'm guessing an hour every third day would be plenty enough to avoid having gear crumble. Might be tough to get in a cabal, though, or get empowered.
