I'm going to preface this by saying I entirely appreciate everything the IMM's of CF today and in the days past have done to keep this MUD alive.

But I was wondering since gameplay forum went up, how many times have something posted by a player(s) been changed?

When the playerbase and the imms fundamentally disagree on issues that are part of what the imms consider game-balance or long-term direction of CF, for example putting haste back in the game, or allowing spam practicing defenses against kobolds prior to level 11, virtually never.

Good ideas that don't have any effect on game balance, and add to the enjoyment of the game, I'd say fairly often.

The hunt was moved to a level 42 sup, the outfit command was put in, newbies without shield block now potentially have two options available to them (polished buckler or the academy seal). Newbies start out with a haversack and water container.

It might seem like the imms ignore the playerbase when they refuse to adopt changes that they feel simply alter what CF is or where they want to take it.

I can't recall them off-hand, but I know at least a couple of things I've suggested have been implemented. They may already have been suggested by someone on the staff forums, so it could just be coincidence. Here's two:

Leaders command:

Improved compare:

Alduk/Hamsah-guy:

Shorter timers for certain requestable items:

Leader channel:

http://forums.carrionfields.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=15&topic_id=560&mesg_id=560&page=

Plus all the stuff lots of other people (besides me) suggested to Santa Zulg.

But I was wondering since gameplay forum went up, how many times have something posted by a player(s) been changed?

The Gameplay forum has 2,743 threads on it. You have the same resources for investigating this question as we do.

I will say that the most persuasive posts are the ones that give:

1) Accurate analysis of current gameplay.
2) Discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of the change.
3) Consideration of players with different priorities. Not everyone likes the same things as (the generic) you.
4) A rough, suggested path to the change. Telling us that something isn't perfect isn't necessarily helpful unless there is a superior option obvious to the reader.
