#16571, "Random Edge Ideas for Rangers"

Hunter's Twitch
Rangers attempting an ambush have an improved chance of landing one involving more than one type, e.g., ambush PC onslaught cripple.

Superb Timing
Rangers attempting to ambush a PC already engaged have a higher chance of landing a successful ambush.

Drive Adept
Higher chance of landing an ambush drive. Mutually exclusive to Hunter's Twitch and you can only select one ambush subtype edge. Note: You can replace drive with each ambush subtype to generate more edges.

Toughskin
When using bark skin, the ranger suffers slightly less damage to melee attacks.

Wilderness Alertness
When fleeing in the wilderness, a ranger will know which direction he fled.

Herbalist
Herbs can be gathered more ofter and/or have slightly increased potency.

Displacement
While in the wilderness and camouflaged, a ranger has a chance to avoid those spells that would destroy his cover (think faerie fire and the like here).

Armor Adept
Rangers of high intelligence can permanemtly change the nature of the armor spell. Instead of improving armor class it protects against paralyzation / mental attacks / generic saves vs spell / etc. Note: Each saves category and mental would be a different edge (with a different name) and they'd be mutually exclusive. I'm thinking of something like assassin's endure but without AC bonus and focussed on one type of saves. I would just love to see the armor spell of some use for the ranger class.

Firefighting
Ranger can use find water to instantly put out a fire in an area, or do a few round move to keep the fire from spreading; think firebreaks. Can also camoflage in the ash left over from fires.

Fashion bow
Come on, it's a ranger staff plus a string

Cooking, or camp fire
A small morale boost for the party while they rest and for a few hours after. Also able to cook ranger steaks for a minor strength, con, or morale boost. Short decay timer on cooked steaks. Mariners make sushi, I guess.

Ghost story
Ranger can tell his group a tale about the wilderness area they're in, improving morale for a day. Maybe require campfire.

Scary mountain man down from the hills
Rangers with high wilderness time can intimidate people with high civilization time when fighting them in civilization

Trail chief
With high wilderness time and perfect pathfinding can lag enemy before fleeing. Think running through a mudhole, thornbush, snow drift, etc.

Super trail chief
Ranger can hide on the side of certain civilized roads, no creep, no waylay.

Clarity of exaustion
When the ranger goes to 0 or negative moves on home terrain will regen as if
slowed, fight like hasted

Hometerrain expert
Slight boost to benefits on HT, slight hit to benefits on others

Hated terrain
Slight boost to ranger's performance on their "opposite" terrain

Friend of all nature
Resistance to various nature related spells/supps. Avalanche, tsunami, entangle, etc.

The beast within
Ranger does not feel pity or remorse or fear and cannot be stopped unless killed. (joke)

I had an idea for herbs a long time ago that could be made into an edge. Make a "Herbalist" edge for rangers (and possibly druids) where they can choose which stat to boost: health, mana or movement.
