Smear mud: While this skill seems to have some utility from reading the helpfile, it seems remarkably limited. As far as I was able to figure out from a past savage:
Pros: aids against assassin throw. I assume it does more (maybe bash/trip/grapple) but never had the opportunity to explore because of cons.
Cons: (1) very short lived application (especially on water). (2) Very few places/times when you can smear mud. (3) if you get mostly naked to get good and muddy, you sacrifice all other protection you get from the few things you do wear.
All in all, when it came to PK, I almost never managed to have mud smeared because of 1 and 2. Unfortunately, most PC's won't wait around until things are perfect for mud smearing.
So a couple of suggestions (take them or leave them as you see fit), either increase the duration of mud, or make it a little easier to find (heck even if the savage has to pee in a pile of dust to make some mud ) And maybe add some benefits against other types of damage other than throw (bash?). I'm thinking along the lines of the mud absorbing some types of spell damage, though as a counter, maybe make a geyser wash it all off
Then again, maybe it was just me. Has anyone who's played a savage seen much utility to smear mud? Or is just that the helpfile is vague enough that I'm missed some other benefit?
By the way, I enjoyed the savage build for the most part. I think everyone should try one at some point to see just how little equipment you can have and still be a reasonable force to be reckoned with.
