If you are who I think you are, I'd disagree with that opinion, but this isn't the time nor the place to go into it.

In experienced hands, an invoker is a wrecking ball.
If you have to ask, you'll probably mostly die a lot. But, that's true of a lot of things in PK. Someone who has (for example) seriously played most classes before is going to have a hefty edge on you just because they'll not only know more about what their character is and isn't capable of than you will, they'll also probably know more about what YOUR character is capable of than you do.
Sun Tzu said (and I'm paraphrasing because I don't have Art of War in front of me right now) that if you know the capabilities of your enemy and yourself, in a thousand battles you will never be the loser. CF isn't quite war, but in that case the principle is basically correct.
