#15437, "CF needs better in-game promotion."

I’ve enjoyed and been a part of the recent quests that started, but there is one thing that bothers me. You never know when it is going to happen. This sucks when I can’t invest 10-12 hours a day of play waiting for the quest to start. What I would like to see is better use of the “Poison Pen.” The player count jumped up by about 20 people during the recent quest and dropped off by that within approximately 30minutes to an hour of being over. Perhaps the poison pen could announce, “Dark forces have gathered. Whispers through the local taverns say they will assault near dawn.” That way the people that only have one or two hours to devote can try and make it around that time.

The general plan of this new venture. (And by the way it IS always a work in progress) Is to make sure there are chances for immteraction on a more regular basis in the form of quests that can and will involve all factions of Thera.

The Plan (tm) is working as well as can be expected with the holidays coming up and I hope you all enjoy it. The Plan (tm) also wants to get into a rhythm of posting/noting 'rumors and warnings' and the following day there will be action. Never know when, never know who. But generally during peak times.

I won't go OOC often on the boards so take this for what its worth.

Disclaimer:
Glad you all are getting somewhat excited about this project. We (all those involved) think it can and will be uber-l337 and will PWN.

***************************************
All opinions expressed by the staff of The Poison Pen (tm) are gathered from various official sources. Drunks, prostitutes, ne'er-do-wells, and kobolds mainly.

This would exagerrate the difference. During the quest, you'd see an even bigger spike. Before, and after, the player counts would be even lower than they normally are.

I'm missing the part where this is a bad thing(tm). The people that have lots of time to play are going to be around for the quest anyway, and the casual players still get to be involved... What am I missing here?

I don't like having to "schedule" my CF time. If people start logging on "just for the quests", and spend less time online when there isn't a quest going on, then it means there will be lower player counts during the majority of my logins. That doesn't benefit me.

I don't forsee a CF where there is a quest to participate in every time a social (less time available) CFer wants to play. Perhaps if your time availability is once a week (or less) but you can do that at any time period during the day, then yes, you could log in "just for quests". Otherwise I think people who may have done something else (like watch TV) will log in because of a quest, but if they were going to play anyway... it doesn't really effect that.

For instance, I wanted to do the orcfest thing, but sadly didn't have the available time this weekend, so I missed out, even though I *planned* to participate. However, I certainly *did* play longer than I originally intended when the questy stuff started going down. So in the vampire-economy that is CF, the quest sucked more blood from me than normal, but did suck me dry, so I can continue to give on a regular basis as I have been for years.

All hail the Vampire Lord CF, may his belly be full of my Time forever.

The feasting orcs haven't gone anywhere. It will decline sooner or later as those not really interested in playing an orc delete, but it's never too late to join the fest. An orc can PK at lowbie ranks just fine too.
