I am refering to the post by GinGa lower down, where he wrote about cabal raiding and as to why the raider should not get any additional boosts for raiding, as it would escalate the situation, and the already stronger raiding party, would become even stronger.
A current big time gripe people seem to have is with the massive logon/logoffs of opposing cabals (usually maran/empire), and huge pendulum swings of power. These have ofcourse been the norm for ages, but power swinging and mass logoffs tend to hurt more the less there are players, as only a very few charachters actually doing it, can have an enormous impact. I believe the current cabal raiding system system enforces this, since as GinGa said, the raiding party has to be able to overpower the defenders from the get go, and once they actually take the item, the defenders get even weaker, due to loosing their powers, and possible death/loot of the defender. Playing the underdog is not fun always, when overpowered massively by your enemy.
We have had the raiding system in it's current form for what, 11 years? And it has been proven a good one, time and time again, but I think there might be room for improvement yet. I have thrown around some ideas on how to possibly add to the excitement/fun/general coolness of cabal wars, but I am the first to admit not all ideas have been thought through, and whether or not they are things that would infact enhance, rather than be detrimental.
A change at this level of gameplay (I'd say well over 90% of the playerbase are affected by cabal wars), is something that requires a lot of work, not necessarily coding, but some serious thinking, balancing, and rethinking. However, I'd like to hear some thoughts of both players and immortals alike, along the lines of whether you think the current system is fine, or perhaps there is room for improvement, and as to what would be the direction you would want it to take?
As to the staff, I direct a question as to how interested would you be in implementing changes in such fundamental gameplay (whether small or massive), and how interested would you be in taking on such a (probably tedious) project, should any good ideas come up.
