#14019, "Cheap Shot"

WHy does this skill not hit any? Shouldn't everytime the person hits the ground, I should try for a cheap shot? Even when i'm the one fighting? It seems that thiefs have alot of skills that cannot be used when fighting someone besides the basics. Or do i have it wrong? But anytime the guy hits the ground, through a trip, bash, or whatever, shouldn't I be able to do a cheap shot? Shouldn't thiefs be able, let's say thugs, be able to do more things while actually in a battle, instead of all of their skills used before fight starts?

I know we are thiefs, but there has to be some of these skills a thug has that can be used during a fight besides trip, dirt kicking, ect...

Ok, i've seen Cheap shot work, and the whole idea of a cheap shot is to hit them while they are down. But, when I actually did it a couple of times off a missed bash, he did a scratch? A scratch? Kicking someone while they are down is going to do alot more damage than a scratch? Not really much of a cheap shot.

This doesn't really say anything.

Damage in the game period is variable on many, many factors, and cheap shot damage specifically adds a few more.

The main strength of cheap shot is that it adds a round of lag on to the person you just kicked.

That means it can permalag.

That means that for game balance you can't be dealing demo's with every cheapshot. The lag is good, the damage is decent. Different things affect it and sometimes it will be significant damage. That said, the lag is probably the most important aspect.

Enough to make trip perma-lag though.

Even if you land every cheap shot, it's possible for your opponent to wimpy out if you hit them in the second combat round after the cheap shot. It may add some lag, but not a full round.

EDIT: I am in agreement here, just adding insight

Your skill percentage in cheap shot doesn't only affect how often it lands, but it also has a huge impact on the damage it does.

It's an awesome skill, but it's also one of the skills (imho) that sees the biggest improvement when you go from 75 to 100%

Quite frankly, if cheap shot did NO damage at all it would still be one of the most sought-after powers in the game.

Here's a quick summary: when you trip someone, they are always going to recover from the lag a split second before you do, which means they can use that time to get in a command - running, doing more damage, casting a spell, etc. If a cheapshot fires off that trip as well, however, then YOU will get to go before they do. Which means you can trip again.

It also adds to the lag a hair from any other skill that knocks someone down, such as bashing and missed bashes.

I had no idea what you were talking about, so I tested it out. Unless I'm a crack monkey, cheapshot + trip appears to be fubar. I could get it to fire on bashes and the like, but not on any form of trip.

I'll make sure it gets run up the flagpole.

I just got it and I'm using it while ranking, after about 75 mobs killed while spamming trip, it never hit once. I'm not worried about improvements or anything, just the fact that it hasn't even hit yet.

You mean like gutshot, sucker punch, parting block, payment of the coward, deathstrike, cheapshot, grappleweapon?

A thug is full of skills to use in combat.
