#13926, "Idea: Forcefeed"

forcefeed <groupmate> <prep>
Pretty simple. If your groupmate trusts you, you can force-feed him pills, flowers, roots, etcetera from your inventory.
Useful for when your groupmate is blind, maybe a few other scenarios. Can't be used in combat, of course. Probably can't be used more than once every few hours because you'd break his jaw or something.
Any thoughts? Splntrd

My initial thoughts were also that it is cook but that it diminishes the role of healers and wands/staves/scrolls too much.

I don't know.
A high fail rate and a timer (5-10hrs?) plus the possibility of destroying preps would make it less desirable to use as an alternative to the more classic methods of healing.
Plus, if the person tried to forcefeed you something and failed, you might get an echo like "As soandso tries to shove a silverpike fillet in your mouth, you gag and force it up." That way, you'd know what they were trying to feed you, and have a chance to retaliate. Plus, a failed forcefeed could wake you.
There are lots of ways to balance this and turn it into an emergency sort of thing, rather than a skill to aid in betraying a groupmate. Splntrd

Not an idea I would enjoy, just off the top of the head. Too many shots at abuse and killing already weakened/sleeping/blind/incapacitated folks.
As mentioned, lessens the role and use of items/objects/healing classes.
Destroys some of the killing abilities of several classes, thieves, assassins, necroes, ap, etc. If these folks get you sleeping, they can maladict you unto helplessness...with this idea, the maladictions could be mitigated by force-feeding of healing stuff. Some of the best maladictions are hunger and thirst, and by removing these kneecaps many classes.
Above all, those folks who interbreed with family members and die to lack of food and water could be saved through this...darwin awards says to let them die out.

>>Plus it'd add a whole new dimension to group treachery, which I don't see as a good thing.
I agree. I can think of atleast 30 easily-obtained pills/roots/potions/etc that would allow you to either seriously screw up your groupmate so they have little hope of survival or just outright kill them immediately. While force-feeding would be a good idea in theory, there'd be a number of people that would continually look for ways to feed prospective groupmates an uncontested experience-death and full loot for no other reason than to be a jerk.

Or just make it a new thief skill. How sick could a binder thief be after force feeding a pill, then shoving the gag in there to make sure the victim swallows it OR the gag knocks the pill out. oooohhhhh...scary
