Ok so from the helpfile I'm seeing that earclap deafens the person it affects. What I want to know is how does that adversely affect you? I've never been deafened, so I just want a simple explanation of what you can't do while deafened. Thanks

Deafening someone has the possibility of a few handy affects. First, it makes it so you can't hear. That means you can't hear cabal channel, tells, says, yells, etc. Makes it a lot harder to communicate when you need help. Secondly, spells can't be cast while deaf and bard songs can't be sung while deaf. Communers can still pray. The bard deafening song is a special case where it only cuts off hearing and not spellcasting.
