#13578, "Since I thought of it, Re: Wands, a suggestion"

I know people have suggested "place-holder" wands in the past, and that idea has been generally shot down. What I'd propose is similar, but instead of marking where wands might/will be, they mark where they won't be (because they were there and someone blabbed). The reason I suggest this is that people have complained about checking the same desk or chest or whatever over months and years and never finding anything. Maybe, some of these places have nothing because they got posted in TLB or TLB II or TLB III or some other info sharing deal.
The reason I suggest this is that I think the current situation actually punishes the wrong people. Sure, those that info share, post ####, whatever, lose those spots, but they KNOW they are gone, and won't be returning. The people who don't info share, don't know that these spots are dead, so they are the ones actually being punished by wasting their time checking spots that won't be there because of the aforementioned stuff.
Something like: A desk contains: A depleted barrier rod.
exa rod
This rod looks like it once held barrier charges, but through overuse, has been depleted to worthlessness.
Now, players you are legitimately exploring see this and think, hey, this spot is the kind of spot where wands would be, but someone blabbed, so it's a dead spot, but at least I know it's dead, and I know that I'm looking in the right spots.
The info sharers go... welp, my info is worthless, guess I'll wait until my AIM list tells me a new spot, but their new spot will likely go depleted too, so they aren't gaining anything, but they're still be as punished as they were before.

p.s. I'd like to post my theory on how the wand system works, but not any locations or anything like that. I want to do it for a couple reasons, first of all that I'd like to know if I'm on the right track, and secondly to help those who can't or don't have time to figure out the system, even if they did have time to try and find wands. Please let me know one way or the other.

I think it's probably enough to say that
- There are wands that anyone can find, but they tend to be very limited and
- There are wands that only certain characters can reliably find. An equal number of these exist for every character with wands.

Shot down for identical reasons. You're suggesting a "place-holder" wand that does nothing.

Please do not post this.

In what way would cf get worse if wands and preps were discussed in public?
