#12625, "Hometowns"

I was wondering the science between who can pick what hometown and why. I was playin a half-drow evil/chaotic assassin, but when I checked the helpfile it said evils could live in Arkham or Dagdan, but when I went to the registry (I was of low rank) it wouldn't let me go to either one. So now I'm just wondering, what considerations go into whether or not a certain race/class combo can have a said hometown, because I thought for sure an evil/chaotic rogue character would be able to have Dagdan. I mean... it makes perfect sense, but you imms are known to think differently from what we consider obvious.

I can't check directly from here, but are any d-elves or half-drow native to either town? I don't remember any, and race is a primary factor.

Any chance we could get a basic idea of what hometowns cater to whom? Or does that get too complicated with race/align/other factors?

As far as I remember, the system uses our CRAP systemTM:

1) Class
2) Race
3) Alignment
4) Population

That's a couple hundred legal combinations from class/race/align, plus the chance that some are "missing" because the town is full at that moment. If someone feels like charting them all out, more power to them.

One Class/hometown yes/no-table, one Race/hometown yes/no-table and one alignment/hometown yes/no table.

After that, potential hometowns could be announced as:

Can Aling Race Class live in Town? Answer=C&R&A if town is not full. Additionally, a list of full towns would be needed for the answer at the moment.

It's doable that way(the non-time dependent list) and it is a long time detective work project for players interested or absolute bottom of the list priority project of dull one evenings work for a bored Imm with nothing better to do.

I just saw Dagdan on the helpfile and it would have fit my RP perfectly but I'll guess I'll have to do without

And therefore you cannot choose them at that time. I think that's the fact you were afgter.
