The common wisdom is that Whirlwind's main use is sucking.

Does it do something besides de-chrome trailer hitches?

Yes. It affects how many attacks (on average) you will take in a round.

We're talking about whirlwind of steel?

This seems like the exact opposite of what's described in the helpfile. It says "Capitalizing on being able to outpace their foes, they learned to deliver a frightening volume of strikes by jabbing and swinging before their opponent could adjust and react."

That sounds a lot more like it will affect offense. Either by giving extra swings, or by making existing swings hit more often. Though I can also see that an overpowering flurry of strikes would have a certain dampening effect on the person being overwhelmed's offense.

Even so, it seems either the helpfile is confusing, or I have badly misunderstood the thread.

Edit: Maybe you meant that from the perspective of the person fighting a whirldwind warrior?

It was supposed to be take, but reading it as make probably works too.

It affects the number of times you will try to hit another person each round.

1.) Is it intended to work on mobs as equally well as PCs?

2.) Could/Has an imm run a mort with this legacy and get a feel for it's effetiveness? I didn't do a Hasturian analisys of the number of attacks I got, but it just didn't seem to work all that well for an arial spear/dagger warrior.

Now, I'm not an Imm, but I remember a comment a while ago about this "speed" not nessecarily meaning purely dex. I took this to mean haste/slow, etc. As Janakt, I was able to make use of a speed-enhancing technique, which I believed to give haste.

In normal combat as spear/dagger, I didn't notice a massive improvement...though I never felt like I wasn't getting attacks off. When I had my "haste" effect up, my attacks were absolutely insane. I'd seem to get 6-ish or more attacks, and they'd ALL land. I loved it.
