#12241, "Fleeing back the way you came."

I'd be willing to bet that 90% of the time I flee back the way I came. I can't count how many times I've died trying to flee past something to get away from something bigger, oly to flee back the direction I came.
I;ve heard people say it's just the RNG, but is it possible there is something burried in the code, perhaps an old sumptin sumptin used to keep people from fleeing past guild guards?
I can't believe it's mearly chance that I have been seeing this pattern since '97 when I started.

It actually makes sense to me that it'd be harder to flee past something in your way than back toward empty space (if those were the only two options).
Unfortunately, it's totally random.

Given the chaotic nature of a fight, I think it's as likely that you'd flee into a telephone pole as an open street if you are truely panic'ed.
Don't ask me how I know.
