#11989, "shifter air forms"
|
I have a couple questions about some things that have bothered me a little bit.
Are major air forms supposed to randomly go between 40mv to fly up and 120mv? Because of this little oddity, it has caused me to become stuck in the air when flying up from a foe.
Also, were air forms meant to become stuck in mid-air? That seems extremely wierd to me. Let them fall down, glide down, or smash to bits against the ground. Just don't let them get stuck in the air until they run out of mana.
That's it really, any comments are welcome.

Yes, except it's not actually random.

Sure were. Cador's kind of a sadist.
I'm not really in favor of changing it, though. That risk is one of the only drawbacks to being able to go a place that almost no one can follow or affect in any way -- if it were removed, I'm thinking we'd need to reduce the power of air shifters in some other significant way, and I have a hard time thinking of one that does enough but not too much.

That the movement needed will reduce signifigantly when you achieve a certain level of control of your air form. This goes beyond the Skilled and Confident levels when you check the Forms command.
Dont give Nepenthe any ideas to weaken shifters even more. The last weakening of them made them very poor finishers.
Im talking about the massive delay after murder command goes through now. WIth swimto, murder...or Flyto murder, anyone can simply flee, return, and find the shifter stuck there. Long enough to sleep them, blackjack, ect.
Because of the limits on shifters, in terms of speaking, no combat options, ect., they should remove the dying in air thing. I agree with you on that. Only hard on newbies mind you. Once you die like that you wont do it again. It would be nice to have an echo...You feel too tired to fly, and simply land.
Will it happen, no. Not until Nepenthe plays a shifter again, which he probably will never do.
You can though get some nice pieces of movement gear which will help an air shifter.
Hope is the worst of evils, for it prolongs the torment of man.

Air forms are about perfect. They could use a new manual combat attack and maybe the second form should be able to fly 'up', but that's it. I'd be inclined to start reducing their 'where' ability based on weather/terrain if they got more than that.
Now, the rest of the forms could use some love, but I think air forms are fine for now.

Damn man, you're getting bitter in your old age. Either that or you're bitter because I PK'ed you.

By now, you mean as long as there's been a murder command? Because I'm 80% sure this has never changed and 100% sure it has never been changed by me..
>Will it happen, no. Not until Nepenthe plays a shifter again, >which he probably will never do.
In the unlikely event that I ever post another character list, I'll point back to this post and we'll have a good laugh over it. I will, anyway.

Or wasnt intending to be.
When you flyto and murder there is a new lag attached to it.
Same with swimto and murder.
It wasnt there before. About mid Anith it was implemented.
As for Pking me? COme on you wuss. Lemme hear who it was. You must mean my last shifter Onaelith. Im thinking...come on...im thinking...
Died mid ranks to some ranger villager giant while I was spamming spells...couldnt be you. Died to some villager assassin low thirties (once in Azuremaine, once spamming spells)...maybe...maybe was you!!..felar...something... Died to some group of villagers outside chasm...same evil villager assassin was there...
THats It!! Evil Felar Assassin of Battle!! Now if I can remember the name. Hope is the worst of evils, for it prolongs the torment of man.

I noticed the lag as well after a murder command as a shifter (in any form, not just water and air). It looked to be two rounds of lag rather than the old one round of lag. I figured it was to cut back on the flyto/murder spam of air shifters... *shrug*

When you flyto/swimto murder, there used to be the original attack and then the first round of combat. Now, whether through a purposeful change or some random crazy bug, you have the first original murder attack/one round/one More round and theeeeeeeen you can move.
Check it out yourself and what not, yup yup yup, aaaaaa yup

COme on you wuss. I really am curious. Its not like there has been some recent unkillable ZOrzoul demon char that people would bitch if they find out is you. Throw me a bone!! Leave out cabal leaders or whatever. Leave out the warrior with 10 legacies. Come on man!!! Tell me one that I have interacted with a bit. Just so I KNOW>

I wasnt running down shifters. I was answering someone who asked a question. Wasnt being bitter in the least. I like shifters.
(Oh wait, I pointed out that shifters have a lag on them when they murder. They do!!!!)
I was just curious and asked Nepenthe a question. Lighthearted and trying to tease the old goat a bit. How can what I just posted especially on this thread be percieved as anything but that.
Man, you guys are too much on the defensive these days. Ive chilled out. Im in a happy place. Should I post with little smiley faces??
Not everyone is trying to accuse you of ill will, Valgie.

I was just, as the British say, taking the piss there. You posted almost the same thing to Aarn re: Marcus not long before my post. I even included a smiley to make the humor easier to spot!
Anyway, the point was that I have played shifters, and probably even at least one you'd recognize.

You could play the kamikaze air shifter who loads up his inventory with burning logs then suicides over Galadon!
Sounds like fun to me...
