If they were overpowered, people who are a hell of a lot better at this game than you would be complaining about them.

I found them amazingly frail compared to my memories of fighting necros in the past.

I ate WAY too many mob deaths. And I can't count how many pks I lost because I didn't spend the 3+ hours getting an army together (no exaggeration on that time frame, especially without friends to help)

Not to mention I only know of two shield preps, one of which I could only get as a ghost.

Bashers pimped me (pre-36). When I was too poor to stock up on flight potions, trippes pimped me.

Pincerers made me weep like a 5 year old orphan girl.

Even post 36, I died my share of times because my 100% sleep failed, then instead of putting in flee my next command, I put in blind, hoping to get away....only to die from straight melee.

Twice I died because I summoned someone to a cunningly laid trap, hoping they were not prepared for me, only to stand up at the pit realizing they were prepared for me.

Three times (I think) I died after unghosting going from full health to dead because I was walking through a wilderness area trying to re-gear and got ambushed (Let me re-iterate, Necros have crap hp without hp gear)

Let's not even discuss villagers, I still wake up in cold sweats, my fingers trying to spam "c word" in mid air despite the sick feeling that I know it's too late..

Now, I was by no means a complete pk loser
http://forums.carrionfields.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=31&topic_id=4278&mesg_id=4285&page=

That link proves I killed more than I died. But those kills can be put into two categories
1) Happend when I was fully prepped to the gills and to the limits of my ability to prep**

2) Happend when my 100% sleep actually landed (2 out of 7 tries in pk) and someone wasn't near to wake them up or save them.

Of course, I was also of a religion that demanded I solo kill.

I am willing to concede to a "Necros are Highly powered"...

if you modify it by saying either...

"prepped necros are Highly powered"
or
"Necros are highly powered against newbies and severely unprepped foes"
or
"Necros in a group are a deathfullness multiplier"
or
"Necros with perma buddies are over powered"

** (I think I had barrier three times, from criminal corpses, and twice I lost them to pk before I could use them, Heh, I even bartered for the location of a barrier prep, only to find out it was only useable by 51's...then the location was changed anyway)

You think they're overpowered in all circumstances? If not, what levels, against who?

Also, the poor, poor possessive singular is being terribly abused by your subject line. Not that I can spell possessive right anyhow.

Play one, prove it, kick copious buttocks.

A somewhat less trite answer - they are incredibly deathful when they fight on their terms, incredibly frail when they do not.

The zombie army is a feared thing, and a very, very powerful tool. It does have limitations but what frustrates me is when I go to GREAT lengths to seperate the necro from his army - and I can't kill the bastards. They flee when you hit them, they sometimes simply OUT MELEE ANYTHING if you lag them, and with haste they're pretty much a stone threat - I would make them more frail when away from their necro. I know it takes a long time to build up such an army, and is by no means easy. But destroying one is twice as hard. All the necro has to do, is heal up and run them up again later. No one has the time to sit there for 25 minutes RL to finish the zombies. Ug.

... I would argue that they should also make necro pets unsummonable.

But its more an abuse of game mechanics than anything else.

I won't dare mention it here, but 2 minutes of work and your zombies are practically unsummonable anyway. Its things like this I know the pro's pick up on - and why Necros seem more overpowered than they are. Its simply players that know exactly what to do, to make your life very, very hard at minimal risk.
