#10249, "Battlerager Question"

I didn't see any forum for the Battle Imms, so I guess I post here. Maybe posting in the newbie forum would have been better?

In any case...

I've rolled up a rager, and I've come across a quandary - I don't understand the official battle position on priests... i.e. healers, paladins, and shamen. I've seen many different degrees of like/dislike to them... some ragers wouldn't accept having supplications cast on them, while others avoided priests, period. But that wouldn't make sense, because if the battleragers didn't like divine power, then they wouldn't be using blessed/unholy weapons or armor, nor would they accept having a god's tattoo... Might someone explain to me this in detail?

You can use my forum for BattleRager questions, if you want. Though it doesn't get used for that very often, that's one of the purposes of having that board.

From a RP perspective: BattleRagers are the mightiest fighters in all of Thera, so they don't need priestly supplications administered on them, except in certain places or certain situations. Two quick examples for you. In the Shrine of the BattleRagers is a healer mob, and the supplications offered there (while severely curtailed from your generic healer mob) are acceptable. It would also be acceptable to receive the blessings (supplications) of one of the priests of your own particular God in that diety's shrine.

From a game balance perspective: Allowing Villagers to accept supplications from other characters would severely negate their inherent drawbacks and make them much, much tougher to face. Picture a cloud giant RBW with a pocket healer...I'd argue that's more powerful than a fully prepped lich.

Hope this helps. If not, post more, and I'll answer.

Ragers view is usually that mages are stealing magic and that priests are given magic by the gods. Stolen magic is bad, while magic given by the gods isn't that bad. The reason they don't accept supplications from priests is that they are supposed to be the fiercest warriors in the realms and don't need help from priests. Hope that helps some.
