#10187, "Rangers' Snare Skill"
|
Two things that I've been wondering lately about the ranger's snare skill (an incredible skill that makes it worth ranking them to 40 and why many stop there):
1) What does increased % in this skill actually do for you? 2) Has it changed drastically in recent past as far as where you can make one?
Regarding number 2, I noticed that alot of places I remember there being snares in the past, there are none now. They can't be made there, even if it's total wilderness, camouflagable, entangleable, and etc.
While I'll be the first to say that rangers are in a decent position of balanced power, I don't think that they need a toning down. So, correct me if I'm wrong that this happened somewhat quietly. I searched the Gameplay forum and found nothing.

You know how sometimes someone walks into your snare and it works and sometimes it doesn't? There you go.

Not even a change this millenium as far as I know.

As for question 1 - I've only seen it go up when I make one. I've never across a few rangers seen it go up when I snag someone or when I fail to. Since usually skills go up as their application is used, I got lost. You spelled it out.
Question 2...I may just be wrong, but I couldn't snare most of the way to the Ruined Keep now, and recall snaring and being snared there before. It's possible though that the areas changed and not the skill. Or that I'm crazier than I think.

Only change I've noticed in snare really over the years has been being able to place it in plant growthed areas and that was a long long time back, early 3rd age.

What you are seeing is area updates, not changes to snare.
