#569, "Thieves"
|
I have a thief I'm playing, I was wondering, can I practice ALL the thief skills?... its just when I went to tir talath I learnt push, and came back to Galadon and the guildmaster offered to teach me plant... I would have assumed it would have been the next skill up from plant he would have offered to teach me!?
Thanks!

Thieves now have specialization like many other classes here do. There are five different paths to choose from, with each path having far different skills and playing styles than the others. You are allocated a certain amount of 'thief points' that allow you to choose your paths: you can choose to specialize in one path fully (and possibly some beginning skills from other paths) or split up your allocation into several different paths.
That said, in your case, you went from Tir-Talath, which teaches the thug path to Galadon, which teaches the Pickpocket path. The following is a snippet from the helpfile on 'thief paths' (which you can access either in game or in the text box in the left frame of this website) which lists the major guilds and what style they teach.
Type: Trapper City: Blackclaw First Skill: Detect Traps Type: Trapper City: Arial City First Skill: Detect Traps Type: Thug City: Dagdan First Skill: Push Type: Thug City: Tir-Talath First Skill: Push Type: Pickpocket City:Galadon First Skill: Plant Type: Pickpocket City: Udgaard First Skill: Plant Type: Binder City: Hamsah Mu'Tazz First Skill: Nimble Fingers Type: Binder City: Seantryn Modan First Skill: Nimble Fingers Type: Poisoner City: Ruined City First Skill: Apply Type: Poisoner City: Hillcrest First Skill: Apply

You must learn the first skill of one path before you move on to more skills. The more skills you have in a single path, the less skills you can have in other paths, due to the point system. Think of playing Connect 4 with a limited number of pieces. You've gotta start at the bottom of each path and build up. Splntrd

Thanks guys... So that would explain why I am being offered plant still..
Is the amount of thief skills dependant on intelligence/wisdom or is it standard across the board?

I believe it's the same for all thieves. The points are dispersed as you level, so you get the last disbursement around the hero ranks.
