When I click the "connect" link on the navbar a terminal window pops up showing the game startup screen with the skull, etc... I am unable to do anything from that point. Does the game require a secure terminal or is there a terminal setting I'm overlooking. I am using hyper terminal on Windows XP pro. emulation mode is set to autodetect.

That should do it. If it doesn't work for you, you might want to try standard telnet- on a WinXP system go to the start menu and click "Run...". Type telnet to bring up a window. Once it's open, "open carrionfields.com 9999" at the command line will work.

Once you're more accustomed to the game, you may wish to download a free (or commercial) program called a client, which is basically a fancier version of telnet designed for games of this sort. See 'help client' inside the game for a little more information on this.
