There's a physical cap on the numbers of minotaurs around. It can suck. I've never played one ever, some people have played several.

Geez. Any reason they're "rare"? Are they that powerful as a race? Or is this just to RP a rare race?

Story-wise, they're supposed to be rare. Check help minotaur for the story of how they procreate. It's a little more difficult and involved than for other races.

Both were at their inception Scarabaeus' babies. I couldn't tell you whether he decided he wanted a rare race and came up with minotaurs or if he decided he wanted minotaurs and felt that logically went with them.
