#1725, "Identifying Items"

Is there a good way to identify items? I'm playing an assassin, and don't seem to have any way of doing it myself, and I assume you need an ability to be able to read scrolls. I've tried checking my score and using the compare command but for most items it doesn't give me much information. Is there a better way to go about it?

Also, why is it that some things can't be compared, even if they're both rings or hats or whatever?

In addition to those tools:

1) You earn the improved compare skill by accumulating a relatively low amount of observation XP. Basically, look at stuff.

2) There's a dude in the Inn that you can pay to identify items for you.

3) Assassins get the lore skill.

Generally, it means one of them is clothing and the other is armor, etc. Examining them will give you some of this information.
