Apparently the Death Angel isn't going to put me up on the battlefield any time soon, so here's my quick goodbye. Thanks to everyone I interacted with. This was only my third warrior hero ever, and the first two were in 1996 and 1999 respectively. Mostly it was a fun experience. As much as I love dwarves, they don't seem to be particularly good at anything, relative to other races. I can't think of a single combo I would play as a dwarf, that wouldn't be slightly better done as another race. I've always loved dwarves for some reason though, so I imagine I'll keep playing them anyway.

Most of the enemies I dealt with were fun. I died some awfully embarrassing deaths, which I hope you'll chalk up to my overall rustiness and specific inexperience with warriors! It was part of my role to be very polite, though it didn't pan out to be quite as flamboyant as I had planned originally. Somehow I made it almost 100 hours and got to hero without ever being full looted. Half my gear was original things I got pre-pk range, so thanks for that.

If the imms really want to make playing goods a bit more attractive, instead of coding up beseech or something similar, just give powers to people who join the Fort! Once again, it was frustrating to be a squire with effectively no powers, surrounded by other squires with no powers, fighting Scions with quest abilities and Imperial council members and elites. Not that you haven't heard this particular complaint before.

Anyhow, it was time for Dalritz to go regardless. I'm packing up and moving to Prague, Czech Republic in a month, and I've got about a million things to get ready. So, once I get settled in, I imagine I'll see everyone again this fall. At least those of you who play on EU times!

Aarn

That's actually a good point, and one that I've considered. I really can't remember clearly what my opinion was on the issue from half a decade ago. Maybe it wasn't considered a problem back then? Or maybe I just hadn't played enough Fort mortals to form a valid opinion. Or maybe promotions to Maran came faster back then? I really can't remember.

All I can say is I wish I had thought to advocate more strongly for this at the time.

Did some ranking with you and some fighting. I really liked him. I saw you lot on and delete and was sad when I realized what you did. Hope to see you back.

On the Fort thing. I agree with you, being a serial fortie it's kind of rough sometimes, especially if you suck as bad as I do.

Good luck in Prague. See you when you settle a bit more.

Hate to derail the death thread, but I'd have to chime in that I agree. Sadly, I don't think I even got the chance to meet Dalritz even being in Fort w/ you...though that's probably mostly due to my own RL issues. Will look forward to more dwarfiness in the fall!

As Masigner, I got ganked by everyone, but fort ganked me worse than anyone else.

It isn't that people don't play fort, it's just the pendulum. There are, in fact, serious perks to fort. Like getting uber gear on lowbies, for example because someone decides to give it to you. Like having plenty of folks to tank for you.

That said, I wouldn't mind seeing warlock back.

When you Deleted Aarn, it was the end of CF's golden age.

I remember sitting over at NbM's house drinking, and he was playing Xalintil a tragic scion bard, and you were messing with him so bad and came out of heaven and started fighting him and put him in a crevice and made him RP himself out as a scary dark voice from the shadows.. it was so epic.. and was one of the first really awesome IMM interactions I ever got to witness.

I sure hope you come back dude! Love playing with you.
