Jhalintar V'ley was born within the small village east of Tar Valon along
the Daghain Road. His parents, both simple farmers, led a life of trade,
selling their turnips and carrots to travellers within the city. They
would sit at their dinner table and sing glorious songs of the harvest
and entertain at the local inn. This was their life for many years,
though when the weather began to change, so did the attitudes of the
city. Jhalintar recalls walking with his parents, day in and day out to
petition the Aes Sedai to aid, though they would constantly denied them.
It was not long after, that his family became slowly affected by the lack
of food. Too weak to do as much work as normal, Jhalintar did more than
his share to compensate for his parents, as well began singing for copper
at some of the more upscale taverns within Tar Valon. Able to barely
scrape by, Jhalintar focused on the Aes Sedai, demanding that they do
whatever they could. It was in these short weeks that a very strong
sense of hatred grew. Looking down at him as though weak, he realized
that, while they had power, they were nothing without heart. He saw their
use of such power as both greed stricken, as well as due to weakness of
soul. Turning his back on what he viewed as diseased of the spirit, he
set out for the dwarven city of Akan, to petition them for aid.

Upon reaching the dwarves, they seemed quite apprehensive about aiding a
human whom they had never met, and as well had little appetite for his
promise of turnips and carrots. Finally, one evening while drinking in
one of their taverns, he tested his voice for them and to his surprise,
found them quite pleased. Rushing him the next morning after a nice meal
and warm bed, they led him to the king who refused to meet with any who
had not undergone the test of strength. Uncertain as to what it was, he
agreed reluctantly and was taken under guard to a Tunnel of Spikes within
the fortress of Mortorn. There he was to spar with one of their berserkers,
proving his strength. Locking the tunnel, he stood in front of the dwarf,
clad in armor and holding an axe, and began to panic. Noticing the fear,
the dwarf dropped the axe and charged. The fight seemed vaguely one sided,
though the constant work on the farm had helped his constitution. Using
what he had picked up in various bar fights, he flailed his arms wildly
at the dwarf. Eventually, though, his body seemed to give, as the dwarf,
used to the terrain, used the spikes to tear into Jhalintar's leg.
Dropping to the floor, the dwarf then kicked to his ribs, cracking where
his boot struck. Face torn in part agony, part anger at his inability to
aid his parents, Jhalintar struggled to stand, as the dwarf, slightly
bloody, took an odd step backwards. Nodding, the tunnel door opened quickly
and a priest of the HammerSong stepped in and mended his wounds. Given
another day to rest, Jhalintar worried about his parents, but was
eventually led before the king. Having proven not his physical strength,
but the strength of his will, was what gained his audience. Relaying
the story of his parents, the farm, and Aes Sedai, the king and a guard
or two all muttered to themselves. Speaking of their banning of the use
of magic within their society, the dwarves told him of the treachery that
they, too, had experienced. Granting him his request, the king sent two
large saddle bags full of food with Jhalintar, as well as a pack mule to
carry them, and a guard to escort. Making haste, he quickly left the city
in hopes of reaching his parents in time, and he did, to a fault. He was
able to reach them, sadly, long enough to say goodbye. Too weak to even
swallow, they lasted only hours. Howling in rage, the dwarf calmed him down
and they sat, silently for an hour before burrying them. Singing a final
song, Jhalintar wept what he vowed would be the last tear. Knowing that his
heart told true, Jhalintar vowed to bring the Aes Sedai, as well any who
are tainted by the touch of magic to Justice when he could. Before leaving,
the dwarven escort pulled him aside.
"I'm sorry, lad.. Yer stout and I'd be missin' my kin, too. Travel to
Galadon and train in th' Academy, when yer thinkin' yer ready, seek out
th' ones who call themselves th' BattleRagers.. I'm thinkin' they could
use yer with a voice and heart bein' as strong as yers."
And with that, he left. Jhalintar gathered what little he felt he needed,
and started a new life.

Added Mon Jun 24 16:40:58 2002 at level 15:
After training hard within the Academy and learning a few new songs, Jhalintar set
out to learn more of the village. Travelling back to Mortorn, he frequented the
tavern he once sang in and heard tales of old battles and songs of war. It was here,
that he realized what he sought. Aside from crumbling the white tower, he sought
to lift the spirits of the Battleragers. To be their drummer of war and walk with
them on the field of battle, singing songs of old and aiding them as best he could.

Character's Note:
Jhalintar was quite young when he first visited the dwarves, and knew only his
simple village songs. The more time he spent with them, though, at his rather
impressionable age, he picked up quite a bit of their dialect, as well as
learning many of their war songs. Oddly enough, it is only apparent on how
greatly they affected him when he is drinking heavily.

Jhalintar also learned to distrust all duergar, though he does not have the
deep-rooted hatred that most dwarves have.

The wound that Jhalintar suffered to his leg during the test of strength never
fullly healed, though he bears it with pride, and is often found grinning at
himself, noticing the limp.

Added Thu Jun 27 18:12:19 2002 at level 19:
Singing for the patrons in an inn he frequents in Mortorn, Jhalintar was
stopped by the innkeeper there, having heard tales of his heart and will. In
agreement about the taint of magi, the innkeeper suggested Jhalintar visit
the blacksmith of Balator, a faithful follower of Lord Nimbus, as well as one
who keeps an eye on potential villagers. Proceeding there with haste, he stepped
into a conversation with the blacksmith and Thrym, and after speaking for some
time with them, proved his worth. Removing his fur tunic, Thrym sent it with
Jhalintar as an item of approval to the massive giant who guards over the gates
to the village, where the giant granted him entrance. Choosing his role as a
scout for the village, Jhalintar looks forward to providing useful information
for his brothers and sisters, as well as providing songs of victory after his
information is utilized.

Added Wed Jul 10 19:11:43 2002 at level 45:
Gaining experience and know-how within his guild, Jhalintar has been taught many
songs since his first joining the village, though upon his entrance, he was
forbidden to learn the songs of fire and ice, wild west wind, and the frightful
fiend, though he has never truly found out why. Dedicating himself to doing as the
village needed him, he fought many foes, and eventually, the Commander that first
spoke with him, Lord Shamus, took his life. Furious, Jhalintar learned with
renewed vigor, hoping to aid those more experienced in the war at the front
line, and the Gods of Battle eventually granted him use of the song that brings
fire and ice. Eventually, the Rites of War took place, and after much debate,
Jhalintar decided to take part, though looking back, feels his performance was less
than his best. Huraz, an arial of the assassin's guild, was picked to lead the
village, and while Jhalintar is unsure his feelings towards him, he trusts in
the gods of Battle and will follow the war where it goes.

Very recently, having grown much, Jhalintar decided to scout the infamous White
Tower of Tar Valon, learning what weaknesses it had, learning where strikes could
take place, as well as viewing a means for escape, should one become necessary. He
is unsure entirely what he will do, but perhaps seeking allies to aid him against
them is not the worst idea...

Well. That's they, eh. My very first time trying out a bard, and as you can see with the badass pk ratio, I was feared far and wide. Actually, it was a fun char for a while, but I just didn't like how he turned out.. I like Battle, and I rolled the char specifically for the purpose of being a battle bard. Not a badass, just someone to heal/resist/enhance battle in general. I don't know if you noticed, but I am *not* used to being tripped. That was my downfall entirely. I liked my role, and I liked the fun I had, but the new battle that was emerging was.. too new.

Battle -
Thror.. thank you for inducting me. I really enjoyed the interactions we had. I'm sorry I didn't kick ass as much as I should have, but the bard just doesn't have my fighting style. It was fun, though. I thought and thought about how I could relate my role to your religion, and learn to be a smith, but I didn't see myself convincing you to take me as your apprentice. Ah well.

Intronan.. Didn't talk much to you.. respected you and liked what you brought to the village as an imm.. Thror had the good ol' humor and fun lovin' father attitude, you were the big brother who would beat you down if you fucked up. It was cool.

Sofia.. I liked you alot.. which is weird, because alot of other people didn't. We travelled together and were a good team, I thought.

Shamus.. You shouldnt' have deleted

Everyone else.. Hang in there.. The restrictions are tough, and the enemies tougher, but it definately makes you better at this game. If you can survive battle and develop tactics that work with them, you can pretty much go to any other cabal and be good.

Enemies -
Amora.. I liked you as a character.. you were one of the few who actually talked back, that why I wnated to die to you that last time. I'd like to see your role when you die/delete.. hold onto it.

Everyone else.. nothing really extraordinary.. I was a human bard at level 48 with about 500 or so hp total. Just trip me twice and I die.

We had some limited interactions, however, once you got into my range
you chose to fight, which was brave.

I was wincing at killing you those 3 or 4 times, but eh...ya kept on
bringing more people every time you took a stab at me, so I guess it
was fair enough.

Good luck with whatever awaits you.

Thanks for throwing me some cover illusion-fire that one time on eastern, really saved me. I'm saving that log for when I delete. I didn't ever see you about, I got inducted near your end I guess. I hope yeh come back ter Village... a lot.

Hey man, great job. With the vice on battlebards these days, I can see that it hurts pretty much. But you seemed to do well for the new changes. Experiance has taught me, that bards are mean, so I would try and take you out ASAP. Well played, and Good luck with your next char.

Thanking Thror for inducting you! Bah! I had a good time roleplaying with you (with those who inducted you), and had some future plans concerning a few items you had brought up. Sorry you couldn't stick it out... glad you tried as long as you did.

right from the get go when I met you with Dalentar. I gave you a red-gold harp when you were younger. I wish our interactions would have happened more I was hoping to help you out.

As a battle bard were you allowed to use the Horn of Tritons? I ask this because you bring it to your lips to weaken and deafen and IC you could say that's because of the loud noise or such and not really magical. And it's also designed to kill mages. Although when I used it got spellbaned when it went off against a villager.
