<8hp 32m 889mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)> Ilvakihj: It was a good life.... r
emember my brethren that you embody the Fortress now... one of my Squires or Mar
an will need to rise up to take the mantle... see that the Will of the Light is
upheld.

<8hp 32m 889mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Artinian: Tell me you are not fallen, Sir...?

<8hp 32m 889mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)> Underneath a Majestic Ironwood Tree
You are on a path leading away from the din of the Marketplace. All
around you are various buildings built by the few non-elven residents
of the city. Many of the elves have become more accustomed to these
urban ways, and have followed suit. One or two of the buildings are
made from stone, and the rest are wood... yet the wood is seamless.
There are none of the boards or logs normally associated with such
construction. You wonder if perhaps they were fashioned with magic,
or even... grown. To your left is a rope ladder which disappears up
into the branches of the Ironwood tree. To your east lies the
Marketplace. North, the path continues. West lies what looks like
a quiet grove.

<14hp 66m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Artinian: The Light is eternal, Sir, as shall your sould be in the Az
ure fields.

<14hp 66m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)> Ilvakihj: I go to take my place a
midst the warriors of Goddess Baerinika... where I can atlast lay down my swords
and perhaps, just perhaps, gather some rest.

<14hp 66m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Baerinika tells you 'Rest well, my Captain.'

<14hp 66m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
A fanfare of trumpets majestically heralds the arrival of Enlilth.

<19hp 102m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Enlilth sniffs at the air surrounding you.

<19hp 102m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)> Underneath a Majestic Ironwood Tree

a quiet grove.

A majestically opulent duergar stands here ruling his surroundings with an iron
fist.

<19hp 102m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
The growl of a jaguar can be heard echoing as Baerinika steps from a wisp of whi
te mist.

<19hp 102m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Baerinika glares at Enlilth.

<19hp 102m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Enlilth says 'If you want... I'll end your misery.'

<19hp 102m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)> Ilvakihj peers steadily at the form of Enli
lth, not at all seeming concerned by his presence.

<19hp 102m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>

Autosaving.

<26hp 130m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Enlilth says to you 'Not that there's much for you to live for really.'

<26hp 130m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Baerinika says to Enlilth 'You have no sway here, weakling. He is mine and you
have no power over either of us.'
Ilvakihj literally seethes with anger as he stares at the duergar momentairly, h
is eyes lighting aflare with a golden fire before he turns to peer to Baerinika,
taking to a single knee.

<26hp 130m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Enlilth says to you 'Just endless service to some silly little elf girl with a p
ointy stick.'

<26hp 130m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Enlilth says to Baerinika 'I have ALL sway here... how well off are your Maran w
ithout their greedy lusts for shiny things.'

<26hp 130m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Enlilth says to Baerinika 'Think on it...'

<26hp 130m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Enlilth says to you 'My offer.'
You say to Enlilth 'I lived my life as an example against just that, Duergar Lor
d... my men will remember my creed.'

<30hp 164m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Baerinika runs her hand down her spear, turning her back on Enlilth and her atte
ntion to Ilvakihj.

<30hp 164m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
The clouds disappear.

<35hp 195m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Enlilth says to you 'Your men will remember your weakness.'

<35hp 195m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Enlilth says to you 'Faced with the superior TRUTH that all men are tied to.'

<35hp 195m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Enlilth says to Baerinika 'Your silly ideals are.. cute'

<35hp 195m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Enlilth says 'After all.'
You say looking to the form of baerinika, a hard smile touching his face 'Weakne
ss is a matter of perception... show me on of your men who take uneven odds, and
then perhaps, you can show me true strength through your mindless sheep.'

<39hp 223m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
The sun sets below the horizon.

<44hp 257m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)> You say 'Courage is something you could nev

<44hp 257m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Enlilth says to you 'You underestimate the true power of strength.'

<44hp 257m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Enlilth says to you 'I will sustain your life if you would embrace the truth tha

<44hp 257m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Artinian: Is it known if Ceedizi learns forms of the Water, Sirs?

<44hp 257m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Seeing the humorous events before him, Enlilth chortles loudly.

<44hp 257m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Enlilth says 'TRUE courage...'

<44hp 257m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>

<52hp 292m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)> Ilvakihj doesn't say another word as he sta

his hard features again.

<57hp 324m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Enlilth says to you 'MY dogs are well fed.. .and healthy, in spite of your curre

<57hp 324m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Enlilth says 'Even still... It IS better to rule, than to serve.'

<57hp 324m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Baerinika offers Ilvakihj her hand.

<57hp 324m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Enlilth says 'ESPECIALLY to serve some silly little elf girl with a pointy stick
.'

<65hp 360m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)> You say bowing his head reverentely to her,
the smile still touching his face, he reaches unhesitantly for the offered hand
'I am yours and only yours to command and to serve, my Goddess.'

<65hp 360m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Enlilth pokes Baerinika in the ribs.

<65hp 360m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Novik: Mres takes rest. Stays strongs in lights brothers.

<65hp 360m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Baerinika says to you 'Come, Captain...rest, and rest well. Your spirit will be
within my Ruin, offering guidance and wisdom to those warriors who are still to
come.'

<65hp 360m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>

<65hp 360m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>
Enlilth whispers to you 'I will torture your offspring an eternity, and then som

<65hp 360m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>

<65hp 360m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)>

<98hp 523m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)> <98hp 523m 891mv 27100tnl (-23.18%)> Underneath a Majestic Ironwood Tree

Spear at hand, an elven maiden takes a warrior's stance.

Where to even really begin... let's just say it was an absolute blast... first cabal leader in my over ten years on CF (I've never really tried for it in the past) and well, was more of an experimental character then anything else, I wanted to get a feel for Surrounding the Sunrise, which, while an absolutely awesome legacy... is too unreliable to actually try and stage fights around it... more of a really, really sweet utility specialization then anything you can realisticially put to use. FYI - I should've taken chilling embrace... it'd have likely handed me double the kills I have... probably would've added to a few more deaths as well. I've done this build before and quite honestly, as good as it might look on paper, there just isn't enough time in a fight to get good versatility out of your whip specializations... the hp margin was just too low for me, and I couldn't get my uber-reliable preps alone... I hope I helped a few of you out in that department as well.

PS - 95% of my really significant characters in the past have been BattleRagers, I think that says enough about my playstyle... suffice to say, as a zerker/defender i'd have doubled or tripled my kills.
The amount of times I just grinded fights to the bitter end was well... stupid, I have a suicidal playing tendency... I can go thirty hours cautiously, sealing 10-20 kills, and not take a death, then lose nine in a row... just my playstyle I guess.

I'm pretty sure people had alot of beef with my playstyle of a goodie... I really took this one probably as far into the threshold as possible... Ilvakihj began life respecting the Laws, heeding and obiding by them... as War waned on, as he started seeing Magistrates marking him because there evil buddie told them I attacked them in Seantyran Modan, me eating warrants, having Magistrates come aiding Imperials in raiding by summong me to them, etc... it just became enough is enough... neutrals who were constantly getting in the way of me killing a darkfiend... neutrals who were constantly killing my Maran/Soldiers... all of them became targets. Ilvakihj saw the entire Fortress as his family, as his brothers and sisters and saw it as his duty to protect and avenge them... believe me, I think Baerinika can attest, in my early days, I would constantly pray for remorse and purity and redemption... it was only later on in life the realizations became clear, that for purity to exist, sacrifices must be made, that is after all, the creed of the Maran.

I just started a long pretty much hate thread... which I will just summarize like this... there are a ton of you playing CF right now which make the game almost unplayable for any extended interval of time... lowbies full-looting, full-loot/full-sac... all of it is tiresome... FYI to you leaders, its on you to make repricussions happen to folks who force the game into a 20-30 pbase margin.

That's my rant... as for the tons of people who positively interacted with me, drop a line, and i'll be free to tell you my thoughts on your character...

Lastly thank-you so much Baerinika for the oppourtunity and the indepth character-building that I underwent from initial entry to my final death as one of your followers.

Thank-you is also extended to all the admins for providing me with this awesome, FREE game.

It's only been six years!

In the grand scheme of things, considering I do 1-2 chars/year and took a year off or so since then, it hasn't been that long.

But honestly, foul-mouthed leader-type Maran were what drove me away from goodies and the cabal. Maybe my next guy will attempt to correct that in a small way.

Only in the world of CF, does someone who kills someone for a living... not become tarnished, jaded, bitter and tired after doing it for hundreds upon hundreds of years without rest...

Honestly... the amount of times i'd get shafted for the RP of Ilvakihj, through my patron administration was routine... but that is RP after all, that was the character I created, and the way I wanted him to evolve through things that happened to him in his life... when the time comes, i'll pick up my PBF, my roles entries were not that consistent towards the end, but I do have about 5-6 of them, and they show the gradual descent of what was a really good and kind elf, into the battlehardened warrior Ilvakihj became.

RP is evolving yourself by the encounters that take place around you, not just deciding this is his RP and this is how i'm going to approach every situation/encounter.

Just my thoughts, I think it gives the characters a far more 'real' feeling, then just your standard model 1, or 2, or 3... which seems to be the main way guys tailor there characters... I dont mean every Elf should behave the way I did, only that if you do, be ready to have some solid RP and some solid events backing you into what has shaped you...

Anyways, you're entitled to your opinion, as I am to mine.

I'm the last person to go with a "cookie cutter" archetype, and I'm more than happy to be judged on my characters over the years to back up that assertion. That said, I do expect a leader of a cabal to be a paragon of that cabal's ideals, or at least some of its ideals. In Maran's case, that would be redemption, righteous fury, etc.

With regard to your role entries, they could be amazing and I wouldn't care. I personally dislike the role system and think it's a crutch. Until recently I didn't use it at all, because my philosophy is that if you can't show your character's place in Thera via your pk and rp abilities in game, you're not doing it right. Unfortunately, Imms lately have gotten in the habit of ignoring and impugning characters (particularly in their pbfs) without role entries. Next time I think I'll be back to basics with no written role (time to stand up for what I believe in!)

I can only judge you on what I saw, being on the evil side of the equation who purposely engaged you in conversation to see if any of the redemption side of Maran came out (it didn't). I just got an earful of yelling, taunting, whining, and cajoling until I stopped entertaining it.

In any case, I'll leave it here so your death thread doesn't get sidetracked and folks can give you their well wishes.

(which admittedly wasn't a huge amount), he did an okay job on what
passes for the typical elf these days. I don't think he did a super job

My thought of you was very high. I'm sorry you and I didnt seem to mesh all that well combat-wise, but I think when we did get together on the same wave length, even if it was just for that brief period of raiding yesterday, we did pretty well.

Good job again on Captain. I know you're pissed at me for trying out a probably-doomed combo (and I think you underestimate the damage upper. Its a lot harder than a half-vuln )

I had fun with you in this incarnation..

As well as our last.

I was honestly shocked when I found out that we had a very similiar relationship in the past with your last warrior and my last transmuter.

You are right about the burn out - I don't know why it happens... but it likely has something to do with the enormous amount of energy it takes to maran...

Anyway - when you 'pointed' me out --- it was a turning point for me.

I was basically like.. WTF.. are the same people playing the same freaking characters over and over... arugh!

I thought it was cool that you figured it out - but at the same time, dissapointing.

You are right about the environment in CF changing however... specifically what keeps pushing it down further and further into a lower pbase...

The same dynamics that exist with 150 players.. doesn't with 40... obviously.

I hope you enjoy your next reincarnation... I'm likely not going to roll for a few more years - by then.. the final nail might already be in the coffin... so to speak.

Thanks again for the power ranking night - I think that might actually be a Carrionfields Record..

Hero in 20 hours.

I tried to see just how quick I could level solo with a goody, I was getting over 2 levels per hour upto about 30 then one per hour after that. I never heroed because I hate not taking the time to develop what I consider key skills/spells/supps etc.

Goodies have a heck of a lot of pure leveling areas that are really exploitable for quick XP. Add wrathing/healing and yeah I could see him coming darn close to doing it in twentiesh hours.

How the hell you where a maran. I mean honestly you attacked me what five times one day for no reason what so ever. Just because I was standing on eastern , hell I wasnt even a hero. I fled from you every time then finally I got sick of it and killed you. Then you came back and I nearly killed you again in two rounds of battle. Luggy just couldnt understand how you where leader of the Fortress attacking a cloud giant warrior who stood on eastern road. And your play style was suicidal no doubt about that, but you had heart and Luggy respected that about you even if he would just as soon rip your heart out than look at you.

A) You were protecting and getting in the way of us hunting down darkfiends.

B) You had been attacking my Squires left and right.

That pretty sums up the reasoning behind the attacks that day... note, Ilvakihj would hunt greywalkers relentlessely for a small bit of time, and then ordinarily return his attention to darkwalkers... you'll also note it had a positive effect, most of the time, when my attention was on Villagers, they weren't too prone to be attacking my Squires... they'd ordinarily find other Magi to hunt.

Bottom line is that even if this guy was kinda kill-happy towards neutrals, it sounds like he had fun and was always up for a good scrap. That's cool.

The player count is low. Enemies are hard to find and this game is about actions not boredom. People want to have some fun. And I bet those fights were fun for both sides you and him.
When RP becomes too restrictive and annying smart people just find ways to drop it here and there for the sake of gameplaying.

thats not exactly a pure neutral outtake on the world even if it is somewhat supported by village history.

I've come to the conclusion that the part of me that didn't like you, just didn't like the IC Ivalkhij, which sure as hell ain't strage as Zefta was almost the direct oposite of you. ^^ You were bound be quite rude to me. hehe In hindsight, well RPed!

And I'm looking forward to seeing your role! Might explain a few things people took out of context on dios.

Looking forward to your next!

From one side you grew in my eyes when you began taking risks, I remember time when you were avoiding it (at least from my POV, I don't see anything wrong with it though), but then that changed (I think it was after you became leader) and I started respect you a lot.

But I got annoyed with your tells about me being coward and all that #### that I should not use zombies but if I use them then I'm coward and such. Funny when I called you coward in return in few instances you did not seem happy about it.

P.S. I full looted you only once and before that you've been warned a lot of times. So you knew it was coming and you could avoid it but you did not.

So I ended up outliving you?! My play times dropped significantly with the holidays and some of the other things I've been doing so I'm not suprised to see this, which means had I continued the same as you I'm sure I would have been dead first. It took me a long time to warm up to your character due to the fact that through the begining you treated me as another "evil needs to continually die" character. As the war raged on that changed, and the mutual respect was gained. You were so much easier to fight before you hero'ed and captained it was rediculous, after your edges my only hope was a solid hack and some backup to bash which still did not always work. With the Imperial/Orc establishment I always found it hilarious that you would be asking ME when the hell I was going to finally make them raid to get back their codex. Anyways I enjoyed our interactions even if on your pbf I'm going to see like 15 pkwins against berserkers haha.

The good: I liked that you were ballsy and not the typical maran that logged on, collected shinies, and avoided battle.

The bad: Your three line emotes had me wanting to puke a few times. (hah). Actually only bad thing is I wish you would plan more, prep more, and not rush in to die horrible death after death. As a leader of a cabal, you should want your foes to fear you, not just rack up their PK count agaisnt you. Everytime I would log in, you had to have died 2-3 times in PK situations. I realize with the low playerbase, you gotta make fights happen. (That you did well.)

Your next char, with more planning, prepping, will be a monster.

GOod luck and all that.

CHeers.

Legacy choices are the reason why I just couldn't in a reasonable amount of time prep for fights... trust me when I tell you my enemies already feared me, unprepped, in some basic request regear I gathered in 20 minutes, with a few pieces missing, wielding two lightforged daggers... if I threw on stoneskin and aura, forget about it... nobody and I really mean nobody would stick around to fight me... even with ***DEVA to ===OBLIT damage being taken on melee hits i've managed to come out on top with 800 hp... i'd say if the pbase was bigger, I could've chosen my fights alot better... either way though, prepping has just always been a drag for me, and spending 20 minutes gathering a set of potions, just for my opponent to quaff as soon as I hamstring... you get my drift I think...

As for the 3 line emotes... I play RPI muds primarily (Roleplay-Intensive) where you have one life per character, if he dies that's it... hence, when I come to play CF, i'm not all that interested in establishing deep internal cabal politics, or going out of my way to try and make every interaction the kind of interaction i'd be giving on the other muds... half the problem is exactly what you stated, the CF pbase isn't ready to undergo that deep of RP development, or waste its time reading through 3 line emotes when you could just go out and hamstring, artery, and multi-stab kill someone...

While CF has a quality of RP that I cherish and love, I would not put in point with other muds that don't put quite as much emphasis on RAW PK prowess.

Just my thoughts, but that should shed some light as to the reasoning.

I liked your RP for the most part. Foul mouthed battle hardened maran? By all means. And you killed quite a bit also.

Only issues I had were that more often than not, it appeared that your OOC persona just bled into the character. Whines about equipment, gangs, even that note about looting your corpse just spelled 'bleh' to me. I really expected something more from a captain and a maran.

I dunno...it's my first Fortress (and I haven't had time to play him recently) in a long time. My last Fortress, with Megara (sp?), gave a really good lasting impression. This one, not so well. Sure there are some outstanding characs, but not the majority.

Anyways, good luck on your next one.

Sadely... you only got to interact as Serth with me, which was already towards the end of my run, already at the point of me being just like bleh... by the time we met, i'd already been full-looted over 30 times, it just kinda grated down on my nerves, when I constantly returned my opponents stuff... Anyways... your RP is solid as well, cool choice for a character too, daggers on a giant... who'd figure it'd actually work out alright :-P

I really thought you weren't naked. + the few dates Iegob have had with elves hadn't worked out to well, all of them lying to him. So he was certain anyways that you were lying, so brought it all. (Was sure I'd get my ass handed to me.)

So, sorry about that. Could have made it a better fight.
