like you said, with your forms sealing kills was hard... either you'd get hurt and take off, or Id get hurt and take off... last time I got you... cant believe you came into the wilds while hurt after me... and you mentioned your bash protection being down... even if it was up, once you left form to cast faerie fire on me, I still could have stopped you from getting commands through with a couple of other tricks I got...
anyways, always respected you for readiness to fight pretty much anytime.. kudos.

Yes, if people hadn't already guessed, Rywald was mine. Originally made the char as an explore character, but I never manage to stay uncaballed, so joined Tribunal early on as they were just getting beat on (not that we don't still, but at least it's not so bad, and there's some promise). This was back in July, after Valryn got anathema'd, and yes, I did go in spurts with this character. I wasn't really the fondest of my forms, but I made the best of what I could with them.
Forms - Zulg, you're awesome...just absolutely sucks that I've played three shifters in my life, and have gotten ram with both offensive majors, and tortoise w/ two out of three of the defensive ones. Combine that with the fact that tortoise is actually better at pure defense than porcupine, and for a while I was the only shifter without a regen form? Bleh. Honestly, the offense/air shifter ends up with one and the def/off doesn't? Ugh. Ah well. I always had to laugh that the ONLY form I had with anything above minimal dodge ability was my first tier marmot form.
Secondly...ram being blunt, and lots of stuff immune to that, porcupine useless against stuff w/ long weapons (mobs seem to like them)...that stank at times too. Try my form combination against Truck sometime. Wow, is that miserable.
On the plus side though...my forms probably did save my life a number of times, and as much as I couldn't seal kills with them...it sounds like they made life very difficult for a LOT of people. Also, even though I get it constantly and get bored sometimes, tortoise IS a very nice 3rd tier form, and still very useful in hero combat. Also - marmot roxxors, and I actually used it often.
Now, Tribunal....so, I like PK fights that I don't have to go hunting for people, so I was always interested in being a Justiciar. With like seven con left, I finally actually chatted with Marcatis for the first time ever, but it absolutely sucked sitting at Provincial forever. Was there any reason I couldn't have moved on to something else? If not, why wasn't I? If so, maybe someone could tell the character?
As far as the cabal in general...I like the new blood, there's a chance we could be in good shape soon. However, the executioner is absolutely pathetic. Half the time, Inglor and I have to take two or three shots at the Spirit with NO defenders, and I'll see a single Outlander plow through the executioner with no effort at all. Honestly, please? Secondly, maybe I just don't see it, but Tribunal love seems to only end up when you're at insane hours. Siloreelo's came at 550, Pissudin's at 400+, Teleon didn't even get to be Provincial until 360. Loryin's the only character I've ever seen to have a Tribunal edge, whereas every other rager PBF I see has one of theirs. Not only do they have the job where half the MUD hates you for warranting them, and the other half for not warranting someone quick enough, that was probably the worst part.
As for my spurts, I mostly would stop having fun with the character, think about deleting, then end up being the only person in the cabal who could induct. So as far as everyone's comments? #### off. I could have deleted, and left no-one at all. Instead, I stuck around and tried to be about more often to get people inducted and help out. Also, bar job. I sleep until work, start between 2PM and 9PM, and get done at 3-4AM. Finally, moving didn't help in there, but ah well.
Now that I'm done bitching, to the plus side....
I had a lot of fun with most of the characters I interacted with, and generally had VERY good dealings with everyone, including my enemies....of particular standout -
Teleon had to be my favorite Tribunal from when I started the character, and Inglor now. Elf paladin complemented my character well, and similar hours made for a lot of good company.
Outlanders...damn, there's a lot of you. Throkk's probably my favorite, with Linaeren a close second. Very classy enemies, and we always had fun. Feilinal - Your setup utterly destroyed Rywald most of the time. Xinrithril, Werzidian, Folsa...quills > daggers. Was fun fights, evil of me with the tortoise/porcupine trick. Assorted other Outlanders - Some were fun, some were cowards, healers drove me up the wall. Overall, probably a pretty good bunch.
Ragers - Honestly, I think I issued more warrants for people trying to kill me than anything else. I half debating going exploring just because it'd stop random chaos in town because I wouldn't be a target. Again, porc roxxors the pk, but it's not often you end up killing anyone with it.
Iltch...binders and ram is sick, was some fun talks.
Kasty - I love you. Just tell me where to send the beer.
Oh, yeah, edges....I picked almost all of them the last day of the char, just to see what they were like. I had mana sensitivity and urbanite most of the characters life. As for flaws...gimpy's a nuisance, but livable. However, Daevryn's an absolutely sick bastard. For the love of god, don't EVER pick transportation sickness unless you're demented. That got me killed more times than I can count. *FISTSHAKE DAEVRYN* (Yes, I'm just blaming him. Valguarnera needs a break sometimes).
Anyways, it's early in the morning, so it's late for me. I'm going to bed, if anyone wants to shout out, I'll be sure to say hi. Always fun, and I doubt I'll be leaving this game any time soon, so I'll be back soon enough.

To be quite frank, you were made Provincial at the request of Siloreelo. One thing we try to do is give the leader his way unless there is something blatantly wrong that the leader needs to know. The thing is, you were made the Provincial back in September at 163 hours. During that time through December, you had months with as little as 12 hours and none over 47. The past month and a half you were starting to put in the time again and were being considered for Provincial *should be Provost* if you could keep it up. Actually, if you kept on the pace you were playing, you probably would have gotten it this week.
> >As far as the cabal in general...I like the new blood, there's >a chance we could be in good shape soon. However, the >executioner is absolutely pathetic. During the time of Siloreelo, Pissudin and Teleon, Tribunal were in power, so there weren't that many things to do. That being stated, Pissudin was made Vindicator at 147 hours and got a lot of things to do through the rest of his life. Siloreelo started getting her stuff at 350 hours or so with a tattoo and Provost. Teleon got his rewards for longevity more than anything else.
Loryin's the only character I've ever >seen to have a Tribunal edge, whereas every other rager PBF I >see has one of theirs.
I know we have given out more of the cabal edges, but, they slip my mind at the moment.

These things add up though when it comes to promotions and attention. The hours weren't consistent for a few months when the cabal really needed you, you grouped with Ravon when he was judged as a criminal and nothing coming across as spectacular. Don't get me wrong, I know that the player of Rywald had other things to do and apparently they were more important and better things. Now that I know who it is, I also know that you probably aren't really impressed with this character either. It's one of those, "It goes both ways kind of things." Not bad to the point of being messed with, but, not good enough to give the love to. Just an average Joe with mostly an average life.
I know you can do better and so do you.

Just out of curiosity, with my moving, I didn't have internet for a month, which I told Siloreelo about...were you all aware of that, or no, after he died? The max of 47 is still a respectable amount of time per month, isn't it? An hour and a half a day average...is that honestly that little, given I was always more striving for Justiciar than Provost. What made me question being Provost is that being a Provincial without a Provost about...well, you're an induct-bitch, and highest ranking Tribunal around...so...that's pretty much what a Provost is, and with the latest spurt being over a month without a leader, you kinda have to ask then.

Well, I caught Siloreelo and Teleon near the end of their lives, and I mainly remember a lot of trying to get the Scales back, so guess it's the glasses, heh.
> Loryin's the only character I've ever >>seen to have a Tribunal edge, whereas every other rager PBF >I see has one of theirs. > >I know we have given out more of the cabal edges, but, they >slip my mind at the moment. >
Aight. Never heard/seen them myself, so from my perspective, I questioned. (Bitched really, I admit)

On this whole part, I have to agree. As far as Ravon goes...I think I just forgot to judge him, because I never noticed...but I also never was told about it, so I never even knew I'd done something wrong. I am curious though, about my non-consistancy...most of those times I was in my less happy with the character stages, and considering deletion. Would you have suggested I just up and deleted then, or stuck it out and gotten back into it as I did?

I never heard or saw anything to the effect of you moving or why you were missing.
An hour and a half a day for that month yes. But, there was a 12, a mid 20's and a mid 30's month mixed in. That really isn't enough for the Justiciar, Vindicator or Provost position. Tribunal is a cabal that thrives under leadership that is very active. Newbies who want to experience cabal life are almost always led to Tribunal and the Acolyte side of Fortress. They need to see leaders a lot so they can learn. As a Provincial, you get to spend time doing the bitch work, I admit, but, that's really the proving ground for the other three. And you can't really prove yourself if you aren't around a lot. It just has to be that way with Tribunal and not so much with the other cabals.

Yep. I went to check their PBFs to make sure that I was doing what I could to help and it's all there.

I am a big fan of believing that if you aren't having fun, you should delete. It is a game after all and it is meant to be fun.
That goes for the imms as well. I know for me, if I am not having fun by level 25-30, I don't stick around hoping things will change. I use that as my funstick-o-meter. I usually have less than 50 hours of my time put in and I am either in the thick of things or I am not. If I am, I am having fun...if I am not, it's time to go have some fun.

I loved to hate you as dejek. There was relatively little I could do but abs up all the way and hope to catch you staying as ram. If you shifted to porc I was just done, nothing I could do. You truly impressed me by how you would just through yourself at the huntress over and over and over and over. But man, prep up all the way before you do that ####, especially if you think there are defenders. With the ram and you being fully preped I doubt anyone could stop you from retrieving if you were set on it.
Well done man, well done.

What can I say. You took a beating and a half, and almost always achieved what you meant to in the end.
The second biggest reason that I've finished with Desabarun was because the ganking (of you, mainly) was getting to me. The main one was that I never got immersed in my role.
Completely agree that the spirit is harder than the executioner. I've never played a character that didn't find the executioner easy. I've never played one that did find the spirit easy though, with the possible exception of my necromancer when he had plenty of undead to share the insects/spores/thornheart etc.

Hehe, I like to think I've found a balance of shamanman-esque suicidalness, with actually not dying and getting things done. I'm usually pretty insistant on getting my cabal item back before I quit.
As far as ganking goes...you never really HAVE to gank. Most of the time, people respect a comment of "I'm killing him myself" or "You want it, you deal with him". Now, Rywald definately did his share of gankings, or guard-beat-downs on lowbies, but I guess I'm more of a bastard than you and I'm OK with it in moderation. That, and you really do have to expect the full force of a defense when you go to raid/retrieve, so it's not as though you can really be blamed all that much.
Overall, hopefully you're around with a new one. Maybe I'll get to return the favor

Rywald was like an old friend. Sometimes there passed a lot of time between visits, but we could always just pick up where we left.
I told Inglor to light a fire for you the other day as I knew it was getting close.
Well, I think I said most of it in the game, but I'll echo Daurwyn and say you were cool and persistant. You oozed stoicism, someone who care about his job and place.
We had a lot of good fights. In town you had the edge after you got provincial, out of it, Throkk had. I liked some of the clever tricks you pulled.
While I enjoy seeing new foes, tricks and all that, there is something special about continuity too. We have fought from the late 40ies through hero to now. I think Throkk is going to miss Rywald. I will, anyway. Especially as you made the quiet hours (or the dead hours as you call them) fun.

I only got to interact with you towards the end. What I did get to see, I thought you were a cool character and was looking forward to interacting with you more. Anytime you CON die a character is something to be proud of. Good Luck with your next.
