I'm not sure where to start with Bryntor. To be honest..theres a fine line with Redemption characters. You just never inched yourself over the line. You talked a great game..but unfortunately RP and talk and effort alone doesn't get you the golden aura.
I tasked you the last time we spoke at my shrine to start slaying as much evil as you had done good. So I watched and you made an effort but you were on a downhill con slide..and I didn't see you making Hero so there really wasn't anything to do but sigh. Heh. You made an effort but in truth for an Orc to turn to good would be something that would part the seas and cause mass pandemonium. So sitting in the Inn and talking a good game really wasn't parting the seas. Just being perfectly honest.
Other than that you played a solid character against formidable odds (Orcs are against awful odds in normal situations) and stuck it out to con death so kudos to you. Which is why I titled you that before you died. You deserved a title...and a pat on the back on the way out for a good effort.
If you really want to play a redemption character you should have a plan right from the beginning. It really shouldn't be something someone convinces you to do. It will always come off as 'I decided to be good, because someone told me it was a good idea'.
Have fun playing...and always con die. Its waaaaay more fun than deleting!
PS. I also knew you as a mortal orc, I think I even killed you. How's that for irony. *wink*

wait! hold the phones! the good hearted lord corlaan was an orc?! lol in all seriousness though, it is imms like you that make it easy to enjoy this game. So thanks for being a good lord and I think I know which one you were. . . there are 2, but i wont let out which one i feel you were. Also thanks for the advise on the redemption thing, i really would have never known what I should really have done.

If you think it's not acceptable for a player to change course midstream, then why add to the role after you initially post it?
As Brumm, I nearly converted a mage to stop using his magic. That was good shiiizazle.

I think that if you look at the stronger rp'd characters tend to have an effect on others around them. For example if there's currently a very very strong village commander, other heros (even mages) may have more respect for villagers in general and the way they are treated. Even to the point where their actions are changed because of this character. I think adapting to the ebbs and flows of who's who in CF is what makes it so great.
Anyway, this is probably a discussing for the gameplay board. But I think playing characters that are more than just 'die evil' 'die mage' from hour 1 to 400 add even more to the game. A bit of depth and evolution doesn't hurt anyone. Obviously if all of a sudden they make a change for no reason just because they don't want to take the hard road, that's a different story. But I don't really think that was the case with Bryntor. If anything he made it harder on himself and never really complained.

Exactly! That ^ is becuase i loved doing it. Like I said before, i wanted the game to be challenging (more than before) and if nothing else it made me a better rper. Bryntor has been the most fun I have ever had in this game because It proposed a challenge, other then going out and killing. . . all the time.

At least the way I see it. Making an orc not evil requires going against their most base and primal instincts. A much bigger deal than for example realizing coins and civilization are bad and becoming an Outlander.
While neither should be easily accomplished without decent reasoning, role entries, and roleplaying, the former should be ten, if not one hundred, times more difficult than the latter.

Well, I am new at this so i figured i will follow suit with: 1. Why i did what i did. 2. thanks
1. This was not what I orignally wanted to do with bryntor. I wanted bryntor to be chief in all its high and mightiness. I also wanted him to be tattooed (sorry thrak). I have played since I was in 6th grade, i am a senior now. I loved this game when i was young. . . i still do! I have created bryntor 4 different times, but was always to busy to do anything with him, so he got deleted. This version is the biggest charater i have ever had, and before I leave for boot camp for the navy, I would like to have a hero. I dont have much time left though. (sept. 19 is my ship out date) Anyways, anyone who has ever heard my story IC from bryntor, most of it is true about how I decided to become good. Basicly i was killed by gryshilinar and we talked and he took me to shokai. From then it was history. I never planed on making a good orc, frankly i thought that the imms would not allow it, but Corlaan helped alot.
2. Thanks, first and formost i want to thank Gryshilinar, with out you I would have never even known how to go about becoming good. You helped me learn many, many things about this game that will help with my role plays and over all knowledge. Next, is oqoko, you were as great of a help as gry. You were always there for me when i needed it the most. The heralds of the inn, boy the fun we had! Thanks to all of you that were there to party with me and make bryntor feel wanted. . . somewhere! Daiden. . . oh daiden as gry and oqoko left bryntor fell on you and a few others as people that helped. You became his best friends. Corlaan... well you were a hard person to talk to for me, because in the 8 or so years that i had ever played i had never talked to an imm IC before you. It was nerveracking because I didn't know if there was a formal way I should have talked to you. Thanks for listening to bryntor and trying to help him along. (wow this is long!) Aeralyn (sorry i cant spell tonight.) lots of fun times with you at the inn.
If there is any one else who thought that they should have been named in this, in sorry my memoy is horrible. . . but thanks to you too (leave me some comments i would love to keep in touch with all of you, maybe aim names or something?)

Ah Bryntor. I haven't had time to play since Grysh, but I have logged on with a few lowbies for a few fun hours and a while ago I logged on, saw you still plugging away and immediately declared you (to a couple friends on MSN) to be my favourite CF player. I've never come across someone so willing to improvise and let themselves be molded by other characters (Oqoko as you mentionned is a close second as well). You had a great impact on Grysh and it opened up a lot of fun RP potential. I have fond memories of me and Oqoko chatting about how we could get you on the right path and what we could do to help. It was all a very intriguing experience for me as a player. I hope all goes well for you in the navy and that you enjoy many more characters on this mud until then and after you get back.
Take care, Gryshilniar

Big Kudos to the Imm or Imms that took the time to interact (or give a title) with this character. He obviously wasn't one of the most skilled on the mud in terms of RP or PK but it's great to see that characters that put forth a lot of effort are still rewarded just the same as the pk monsters or rp finessers. I was overjoyed to see that he received a shiny title for his genuine attempt to play a character that contributed to the mud in such a positive way.
Awesome stuff Bryntor and Corrlaan and company!
Now if I can only drop my online poker addiction (it's become a part-time job) and roll something up.

I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical of Bryntor when I first saw him in the Inn... I've seen some other redemption-seeking characters and usually seem fake, somehow. I'm glad to say that wasn't the case with Bryntor He won me over, I don't know why, but he did. And of course, you kept going even with basically half the MUD gunning for you. Had fun, best of luck with your next.
PS: Sorry you didn't get into Herald
