#45190, "Gone."

Well I have nothing good to say about Bjurn except that it was the first hero! Wasn’t getting the rage part of Aarn down, just came across as out of control.

Pay Pal is mystical to me so here are the Highlights.

Picked off a Peck of Lowbies.

Empowered at 18 hrs (That should have been my first clue)

Inducted into the Fortress.

Started Aarns Avengers.

Got Fortitude

Made Maran

Left Fortress

Deleted

I met so many people that I can’t recall most of you.

Alidove, you were always my favorite. Oddly enough All my Fortress Dwarf Pallys have Elf/HalfElf Girlaquaintences. Makes me wonder. Any hoo thanks for listening instead of talking. =P

I feel like it’s safe to say Bjurn wasn’t closely affiliated with anyone so it’s okay for him do drop from the story line. And so he does.

I didn't get to follow Bjurn too much in the later years, but I
did get to watch some in the early times and enjoyed the experience.

You jerk! You once posted that 'That fourth commerce skill is really good too.' I spent well over 40 hours trying to get it from the third, only to read a post later that you had just been kidding, but, I did get the richest guy in Thera out of it, again, but in a completely different way than Hipsin got so rich. I've been stewing about it for a while, and I thought I'd let you know, so you could get a laugh about it.

Favorite times were back mid 30's with you. You were funny and I liked the Aarn add ins to everything you said. Even had me using some of them.

But at near hero, you were tottally pissing people off. Heck even me, and I was your only supporter!! You would boss around people like mad. One time you got mad at me for not meeting you at the fortress. I was fighting at the time, at the Chasm inners, agaisnt a lone defender. You said over Cb Alidove, meet me at the fortress and we can make plans for going to learn. Or something like that.

At that point the archmage was writhing already. We finished it off, came back to the fortress. I downed the scepter and literally ran to you. Said sorry took so long. (about 2 minutes real time!!). I then motioned for you to follow me...(So I could run us to go learn fast!!) Not to lead you or take command or something.. You got mad at me...ran off...sulked...refused to talk to anyone.

The final straw was when you started telling a young squire to sit in Hamsah and make reports to you about the comings and goings of Imperials there. Then you shut your ears to the Cabal channel after fighting like mad with Austira. Austira was actually out hunting you, she was so mad!! *hehe* An acolyte hunting down a maran with bloodlust in her eyes!! *Im laughing cause its kind of funny to picture*

ANyhow, I will miss the real Bjurn!! The Aarntastic Aarn Avenger.

Take care.

Here’s how it went from my perspective. I was trying to figure out where we could go to to advance ourselves and we had finally decided. When Lo’ and behold another Mystery raid has begun!

Si Here I was thinking, I got left out on another Raid, and something else was said that made me think something was going on OOC, but I can’t recall at the moment.

So I had some Storm with me who kept running off every time you would delay, and it was more than a few times, and as I mentioned. I type by looking at the key board so I was getting mixed up.

When we finally got together, we still hadn’t settled on anything in a concrete form. So I asked if we were going to ‘Explore’ the mines. Now it seems to me, that it should be pretty obvious that Bjurn never spoke in generic terms and that with a little mental judo, you would understand that I meant ‘Level up‘. Well you made some flippant comment about I want to Rank! And that was the last straw, I was frustrated as the player and would rather go spam Mend then put up with that. So I did!

Anyway I felt bad shortly there after and I had to leave before I could make amends so I planned making a good show of it latter on.

Anyway You are very very cool and You should be the Next Car in my opinion, even though you are a Squire. =P

And that hole Report to me in Hamsah thing, I just gotta say a hearty F-You to all involved in that. That was what made me quit. Here is a Brand new Squire chewing out the rest of the fortress with no perspective of what anyones situation on that particular incident. So I figured I would dress him down a little, and give him an assignment akin to Guard duty for a little while. And then here came the tit-brigade! You can’t say that to the poor poor squire whose doing and saying what ever he wants! That’s evil! You are evil!

F&*k, that pissed me off and I couldn’t stop being mad about that for the rest of that characters life. I’m still mad about that.

I had to leave because I knew then and there, I had no business being in the fortress because I was trying to work toward good order and discipline in a body of people who are inherently chaotic. The only positional authority I had was being a Hero Maran and the rules or Squireship with relation to your elders and noone wanted to play along so I had to leave.

Now, I ask you, please recall for me, the time you remember of me bossing people around, and tell me what the circumstances were. Because I can honestly only remember ordering 3 squires to do anything and in very specific circumstances. I did call squires to my side on a couple of occasions, but was generally undermined buy a very vocal and public reprimand from an Acolyte that I as a Maran had no biz telling squires what to do.

Anyway, that’s where my bitterness came from and I’m sorry.

Cant really recall other specifics. There were lots of them though.

But there is always a problem with percieving things diferently. WHat you might think of as friendly advice and suggestions, someone else might think of as bossing around.

Like I said, I liked Bjurn. My comments were just what I observed to be going on. You got Gala situation, Austira, myself on a small scale, some young squires...its a trend happening there.

Dont let my advice jade you, was just trying to help. Too much talk can be a bad thing. Especially over CB. Stick to the Aarn Brigade. That was cool.

I never saw the squire be all that disrespectful and so all I noticed was you bossing him around. And actually all I said was "Bjurn no need for that." And then you got PISSED! And unfortunately I was in an already bad mood to begin with(some break up mess up thing, long story doesn't even matter) it just kind of sucked. All I saw was this: DO THAT MY B****! DO THIS! HURRY UP! and...well I took it as arrogance. Sorry man if I went a bit overboard, you did hurt her feelings big time. After that she just wanted to help you out with your "Anger management issues" and the fact that you broke a few promises. She just felt bad after that for the dumb, stubborn dwarf.

Before that, I did enjoy your char for a while until you started bossing people around(and yes, you did that a LOT). When you have a character that likes freedom like Austira, there is bound to be some friction. I do apologize if I misunderstood the issue, because apparently I did, and I was trying to make it up to you by asking, but if I said one word wrong the conversation went nowhere. It was a bit upsetting actually, since all the cat ever did was want to make sure you were alright. And I didn't hunt you to hurt you, I hunted you to beat some bloody sense into you, hah! Fun times. Moral of the story: If you piss off the cat big time, be prepared for her to show up by your side no matter where you are yelling at you, hah!

I can not think of anything more than giving three orders to anyone. If you consider me telling you to shut up an order, then between you and Galasoulius, that's a LOT!

You just pissed me off because you wouldn't let it drop. I told you many times I needed time to get my head on strait but I could get no peace.

There is such a thing as too much.

I think you are a great character though, and if you were a bit more discrete how you challenged someones discision, I think you'd be fine. You just never let me save face on any issue.

I'm really saddened how that ended with us, I really liked you, especially since you seemed to be my only ally with Gal.

Be good.

Who else was taking charge?

I took charge in a Defense. I died.

I took charge in a raid on Empire. I died.

I attemted to take charge on a raid against scion where we were getting beat on, but two heros (I wasn't at the time) took it.

What you were chaffeing at, I saw as a sensible series of steps to take to achieve victory in a situation that was fast deteriating into chaos.

People complain about the gang bang, I'm beggining to think they are just better organized.

I once told a scribe to git, because I was saying a few good things about Dinian's passing and he started cutting me off and asking to rank. I thought that was terrible.

That was also the time of the AARN. Which I meant to be fun, but again it wasn't because, well, noone wanted to do it so the wandered off, with out any sort of indication of what they wanted to do. So I had no more AARN's.

I also asked a squire, on one occasion if he could remain in Hamsah, to watch the movements of our enemies, later on he got lippy and I told him to go there and report back to the Fortress, not to me. It seemed like a sensible, IC thing to do.

I know I told Gal to hut up a number of times as well as jumped her #### for caliming kills that weren't hers or wholey hers.

Bjurn was around a lot and he always obeyed his orders, even if he was grumpy about it.

Ah well. It was a failing on my part and I wasn't deluding myself to believe otherwise.

In terms of retrieving, cat does try to organize people but one...shes is soft spoken and two no one really takes her seriously except maybe Gry, and even I am not so sure. I was under the impression that it was up to the Maran and the Squires to go out to doing war while Scribes and alcolytes helped mainly with defense.

If you think back you will note, I did not ever tell a scribe or alcolyte what to do(Except to shut up. =) but I would come to you if I thought something was off about a scribe.

I guess I was wrong about there being two halves to the fortress.

It seemed like you thought you suddenly became the leader of everyone, and god's gift to the Fortress when you became Maran, which was unfortunate. I didn't really mind not showing any respect to me, but you showed no respect to all the Acolytes you interacted with, nor did you respect any of the other squires. Honestly what kind of paladin would be telling acolytes to shut up, when they are equal to you, or even higher up on the Fortress hierarchy. There is a thin line between Aarnic rage and just out of controlled prickosity. The paladin code helps in focusing that aarnic rage.

When everyone else thinks you are bossing them around, and you think you are not, its a good thing to go and think about whats going on and consider that you may be wrong. A big sign that you should not be ordering people around is when you spend 10 minutes on the cabalchannel asking how the hunt works.

You are on the right path. Just make sure you don't fall into the "I heroed one guy now I rule" kind of mentality. I'm still learning things from other people all the time, so I always pause and think before I even suggest things to others.

Also I did greatly enjoy your creative use of Aarn. That added a lot to the character.

Good Luck.

I will allow you to accept my forgivness.

It's a natural phenomena (SP?) that when people get a promotion, two things happen. 1. A powere surge, and 2. Annamosity from those that didn't get the promotion.

If you did it mathamaticly it could look like this.

Pre-Promotion two people are zeros on their perceptions of themselves and there peer.

Post Promotion One takes un a subconcious level of negative affectivity, where in the Promoted takes on a possitive level.

Let's value them at -5 and +5 respectivly.

Where in once we had two people of equal status, we now have two people very much opposed (10 point spread vs zero), and it takes time for both to settle into their skins.

I honestly did not feel like I was bossing anyone around, I was trying to bring order out of what I percieved to be chaos, and failing.

Giving and taking orders is second nature to me and a no brainer. Not something to get upset over. It came out here.

Considering I've seen three people who were tattoed, two avatars of their gods, as squires, with over 50 hours inside Maran, I have a very hard time thinking making Maran is more skill than having the right playing times.

Please don't equate one with the other. An example, are you going to suggest anything you and Knak did was sufficiently superior to Kael?

Its unfortunate but you have to be around at a certain time to get promoted.

A class that is supposed to represent everything on the code and what goodliness is. Except the main problem is you failed to see you were failing until the character was over. You were sending people to the slaughter. Asking others to do things that you should have been doing, putting people at risk while you sat and did not have any risk.

Sure you didn't feel like you were bossing people around, but yet everyone else did. So perhaps you were bossing people around, but just couldn't or wouldn't see it. I'm just trying to help here.

Maybe my view of a paladin is just off. But a paladin shouldn't be ordering people to their deaths when they are not willing to take the risk. Telling equals to shut up, or that others of the Fortress are evil. What happened to fair speech and action? Respect, Integrity, Valor? You shall risk your life to save others? Live life to be a guiding light for others? I could understand having a twisted view of one or two of the paladin code, but violating at least five on a daily basis. Thats just from my limited observations so, I'm probably completely wrong. But its something to think about for your next paladin.

Don't play yourself, play a character. When you can separate those two, you will make leaps and bounds in how alive your characters feel to others. Probably the most difficult thing to do is to play a character exact opposite of what your personality is.

Heck I'm not perfect either nor am I upset. Our interactions were hillarious. And I loved always taking the high road and seeing how you dealt with it. And doing it in an obvious fashion so everyone could hear. Maybe I defined your character too much and when I was gone, you couldn't go on .

If I ever gave an order, it was to squires, and squires alone.

I tried or attempted to make it clear that I wasn't getting involved with Scribeishness and Acolytleness.

I'm not saying I didn't, but I can't for the life of me understand how the perception is that I ordered everyone around, especially since I was a Maran for all of 48 hours.

I've talked about all the times where I attempted to provide some direction (And upset people) but noone has given me an example.

I;ve been strait forward and accepted that I have flaws, but I;ve gotten nothing except vague inferences of non specific events that happened over a two or three day period in which I saw a few of you only a hand full of times.

I liked Bjurn a lot until he lost his humility.

The low-mid levels when he was just hanging out all "Hey, I bust people's #### up for Aarn. If Fortress is full or something, that's totally cool, I'll still mess Empire and Scion up for you too, you just let me know when?" That was a great character. You could tell just watching that people thought he was cool and wanted to be around him.

I'll always think of Bjurn and Galasolieus as the Odd Couple of the Fort. Their disagreement was fun to watch, and I don't think either of them was really completely right or completely wrong with respect to the other.

The later period of Bjurn's life really left me cold. I don't know if it was levelling on up, being promoted to Maran, or what, but he really turned into an arrogant jerk. I can spot this because I am one. Watching you try to give combat orders to the rest of your cabal made me want to cry. It amazed me that a character I liked so much could turn around so fast.

Good luck with your next.

I knew it, and I was going to try to turn it around.

But I lost the character after Galasoluis, because I think I used any political capital I had there.

I was absolutley OOC Convinced I had pegged an IC spy. What's more I was frustrated that noone could see it except me. That had me questioning my own judgment and I went from trying to be a balls to the walls killer to having to defend my every statement.

As far as ordering anyone, I just don't understand this. I can honestly think of trying to take charge in two raids. And I try to get people involved in other things not involving Raids, but, as I said, I had already ruined Bjurn.

Thanks for the good and the bad.

I thought the interaction of those two characters was great. I think there were valid reasons for someone to see Galasolieus and be like... uh... hey, something doesn't smell completely right here. I saw a few other people pick up on this as well, but as far as I can tell the rest dropped it once she was actually inducted.

That kind of rivalry/adversarial relationship between two characters in Fortress of all cabals (and appropriately and totally RP-driven, not just gratuitously) was cool as hell to me.

I must have by chance caught all of this, then. (I'm usually paying attention to one or more cabal channels, not having my own to monitor.) Man, I'm sorry, but it was just bad. I had moments of thinking... wait, is Bjurn trying to sabotage his cabal on purpose?

It did seem like you missed a lot on cabal channel. Often I'd see a raid announced and five minutes later Bjurn: Where is everyone?

Group vs. group and raids are really different skills and tactics than fighting solo, and I'm sure as you do more of it you'll improve. There are a decent number of players around that solo are spot on but you put them in a group and it's like you instantly divide their IQ by the number of members in it.

Is anyone else boggled at why they do this? Thanks for giving me plenty of time to get everyone back to my cabal to prepare a defense while you're sleeping up in Hamsah for 15 minutes.

Or better yet, pick off the lone Fortress people wandering down eastern on their way to meet their groupmates.

Sorry you didn't get more into Bjurn! It was obvious you were experiencing some, ah, friction in the Fort. I thought Bjurn was a good character though, and I was looking forward to seeing what you had in store next. I think you could have made it just great as an uncabaled follower, but I understand that's not often as fun as it was being in a cabal.

Anyway, good luck with your next character. The only piece of advice I have is to focus more on you, and worry less about what the people with you are doing. It can be very frustrating when you have to do that.

Cabal Life isn't for me.

I have to look at the keyboard to type and so many people communicating with me at once caused me way to much frustration.

I would mix CB with GT with say with tell with reply, often all on the same line!

And then there were the mystical raids that went something like this.

:Who has the Scepter/Codex?

:Casm.

: Some vague comments about a raid.

Me sleeping so I can be ready to raid.

#1: AH Im Dead!

Me waking.

#2: Get my stuff!

Me: Where are you?

: Battle here.

: I recalled.

#3: Anyone know anything abo
#4: We gotta stick together!
Me: Rally at such and such a place, we'll get back on track.
#4: Don't boss us around! That's evil!

Me arriving at the Casm.
Watcher: I know hold the #### you ran all the way across Thera for nothing for.

Me: Did I miss the starting gun?

Random Fortressite tells you: When did the raid start?
#1: Outlanders are laying snares outside of the Fort. Bjurn, Brinrok, don't hurt them, they are our friends.

Brinrok: Bah! They got me. This is WAR!
Me: AHR HAR HAR! I'm with ye!

#2: But they help me rank. Besides Look what Battle des!

Me: I don't travel with Battle anymore because of what they do.

#2: (For the 197th time) You have a lote of hate in you.

Me wanting to jum through the ####ings screen: I get it. I'm a horrible ####ing person who is incapable of making moral judgments, because that's what Detect Evil is for.
####################################################################

Anyway I was mystified how quickly the Fortress was able to formulate a raid with out me knowing about it, and run off to regear inside of 5 minutes.

####################################################################

Aarn, could you clarify what you meant about not worrying about the people I am with?

Thanks for the Empowerment and the interaction I had hoped I would con die thi fellow, but it being my first hero, I became more obsessed with running around and looking at some things I had never seen before. It's just that, I was getting engaged at every turn.

Again, I lost him somewhere around Galasolius.

Ah well. Aarnward!

For some reason, I'm laughing at Fort now.

Probably this one:

That's the Fort life when no-one takes leadership and when someone does, the others don't acknowledge it and do whatever they want.

Damn, if that just wasnt all too true. I recall each and everyone of those situations, its just chaos.
And then with you and the conjurer starting to argue all the time, that was just too much for me. Sometimes when the #### hit the fan, I just closed my eyes and focused on the music.

I enjoyed ranking with Bjurn(Larthin wasnt my only char that ranked with Bjurn), he was always "alive", compared to most when you rank. I bet that quick rush at the mountain was a bit better than running around hunting drow, eh? Always Aarnihilated, and Aarnward. Was a lot of fun just readin your comments, while I stood there, dodging like a freak, trying to keep an eye on the skellies and my groupmates health.
But as some have said before me, after you hit 51, you sort of changed. You didnt seem quite as open and alive as before. Had your arguments with a few of us other fortress people, and I remember one time where you even put on quiet mode, and we got attacked.

Anyways, good luck with whatever you do next.

I mentioned it just in another thread because I didn't relize you delted but here is some advice for you. First thing first is you need to relax, telling everyone and their mother who doesn't use perfect grammer and stuff that they are speaking like an idjit is a good way to reveal who you are playing and the fact that you care more about the mechanics of rp then the actualy role playing. Its anal retentive attention to detail like that that makes sucky chars(unless your a herald because they are not playing the same game as everyone else)

I enjoyed my interactions with you a lot until you stoped role playing and started grammer policing and everytime you did that it left a sour taste in my mouth. (sure you could argue that I should just use perfect grammer but this is a game of speed and those extra milliseconds to reach the shift or period key can count and well nobody else in the game has a hard time staying in role about it except for you, phaelim, and grurk.)

I hate interacting with lazy people.

I'll give you a nudge to see if you correct, if you don't I'll give you an allusion as to why I'll no longer talk with you.

And I realize it escapes people over and over again, no matter how many times it is said, but I'll repeat.

I'm not asking for good grammar, that's become an attack phrase. I'm asking you t structure your scentences so I know what's a contraction, what isn't, where the scentences start, let me know if you are asking a question, excited, what ever.

It's that simple and you don't look like you are a 12 year old in an AOL chat room.

It's just good practice in form and function, especially if you are playing a character with a deep accent. With out it I just assume you are always overly excited and talking like a Evermeet Gnome.

And the Imperial crowd makes me want to pull out my teeth.

But Yeah it's, my thing and I'm most sensitive about it when I get tired.
