Thanks. I do try. At some point I had decided to age die Saqzawaz, but after a while the monotony just got to me. Log on, look for a few pieces of gear, try to find someone to stalk. The last death to Meagara gave me the impetus I needed to actually delete.
It was never my plan to stick around for that fight if I missed the attempt, but at some level I always felt a little dirty when, after missing, I would immediately flee and quaff. Basically I was shamed into fighting and paid the price. It's a pretty stupid sentiment; I should have paid the naysayers no heed and gotten the heck out of dodge as soon as I failed the attempt. Hindsight is 20/20.
One observation about skills: I don't recall ever actually spamming anything, and my stuff mastered relatively quickly, even with felar int. For a while I kept a record at the rank (and hours) at which I mastered various things, along with what my parry, dodge and shield block were at each point. Here it is:
lvl22 18hr sword (psd = 94,83,88) lvl24 27hr enh dam (psd = 99,93,94) lvl24 29hr parry (psd = 100,94,94) lvl24 36hr 2nd atk (psd = 100,96,94) lvl25 38hr dagger (psd = 100,98,96) lvl25 40hr motp (psd = 100,98,98) lvl26 42hr dodge (psd = 100,98,100) lvl29 48hr feral (psd = 100,98,100) lvl31 54hr dual (psd = 100,98,100) lvl31 54hr disarm (psd = 100,98,100) lvl31 54hr staff (psd = 100,98,100) lvl33 62hr throw (same) lvl35 64hr bindw (same) lvl35 88hr caltraps (same) lvl35 88hr third (same)
Two skills I found truly hard to master were unarmed defense and backhand. Unarmed I'm pretty sure I could have finished even at hero, if I'd wanted to devote the time, but it seemed like a waste. Backhand, however, eluded me. I almost always used a sword w/ no shield and played the character for 400 hours. Backhand was at 95% when I deleted.
