At 8 o'clock PM, Day of Thunder, 10th of the Month of the Old Forces
on the Theran calendar Granaak perished, never to return.

I wanted my first hero to be a character that I enjoyed playing and I
accomplished that. Granaak was mean and I loved it.

Imms: Thanks for the great game, CF is truly a well-balanced and well-maintained game. Please keep a closer eye on Paladins and the success rate of perfected drum =)

Eshval: I had some issues with you at first, I think Scion was a
learning process for both of us. Thanks for giving me a shot though,
Gran did not have an imm he followed nor did he want one, but I can
sure say I enjoyed getting things done for you and see'ing you about. I never really interacted with an immortal character before and you made it easy for me to get into the swing of things, I appreciated that.

Muuloc: As a mortal we had our differences..sometimes. But I always
enjoyed having you around. Sorry I taunted you so much you had to
uninduct me and sorry I chased you out of the Chasm . I was trying
to stick around log enough for you to get your religion, I was secretly hoping you'd take destruction =)

Dreaa: Wow. Our little skirmish was embaressing..but after fighting a
few more Lemur's I know how I could have won (pray for flurry to land). To bad we did not get to talk much after you immorted, but you were a great chancellor.

Players: I think CF is an excellent, excellent MUD. Easily the best
one I've played. However, the player base leaves something to be
desired. I never stepped out of character with Granaak, so I will say what I think needs to be said here.

Tribunal: Gran despised you all from a very young age when he was
attacked by two of the Fortress and he was the one warranted. When
Eshval said she had a distaste for you guys I was very pleased. I
enjoyed terrorizing your cities. I really enjoyed seeing tribs aiding Maran who had to be criminals/hardened criminals (even when I was not warranted) it pleased Gran to see people change their core belief's just for him. I will miss seeing the tribsquire and the tribagers and my favorite species the tribsquirelager. It was fun guys =).

Maran: If there was any group I wish I could block via the quiet
command somehow it would be you guys. The amount of OOC taunts from
you all was embarrassing. Beyond that Paladins who swear at you,
Cardinal's who ditch their dying cabalmates and then taunt you,
Captain's who taunt you for five minutes when its you vs seven maran
(literally) and then log off as soon as there might be a fair fight.
Wow, just wow. Jez/Wungar/Alastair/Ahelun/Hanos you were the worst I enjoyed killing you anyway possible. Iramath and Heas, turn this new group you have around I like you guys and think you can do it. PS Dralgarth, your last death to my flurry..was the flurry that brought me to 100%.

Village: I would like to thank you for making my legacy choices for me. Dralkoz for making me take fist of the titans and Arrazn for making me take Cry of Thunder. I did not intend to pick those two, but the sheer number of malediction spec's and resist forced it. I saw a few generations of villagers go by and I am pleased to have met Jurt and knew I could count on a bash from some of you if I was fighting two tribs and four guards. I think I want to try a villager after I take a bit of a break. Hope to see you guys soon.

Empire: Did not really see many of you. Ceikalak(sp?) I enjoyed our
two brief fights and our one liners we would shoot at each other every once and awhile. I have not seen you in a bit, hope everything is well.

Outlander: Our little war was fun. Tjok, when I asked you often if we had an issue it was my way of telling you..I really really do not want to have to kill you =). Our interactions were limited but I had a lot of respect for you. I always had wrath though...just in case.

Herald: You had the Muse's protection, however some of you definitely
did not deserve it. I arranged a few of your death's.

No affiliation people: The dragon slayer svirfnebli, I liked you and
before Restraal did I had to halt a few attempts on your life =)

Androkin: Awesome, awesome character, I enjoyed killing Maran taking
their prayerbeads trading them to you, you selling them back to the
Maran just to have me kill them again (not sure you realized thats what was happening however) =). Was a lot of fun.

Akannia: You are just to funny. Sorry you had a few crappy deaths when you were running around with us..but I hope you had fun anyway.

Synnarlo: I was hoping to try and mummify you as well. Anyway, thanks for all the summoning, the Maran do love the fort don’t they?
Galadon thieves: You robbed me blind and I knew it..pesky
thieves.Hipsin, I enjoyed you not robbing me however.

Finally, the Scions:
Aks: What is this the third Eshval follower chancellor? Conspiracy! =) It's always good to have an owl around and the panther was impressive as well. Good work but you have some tough times ahead.

Vanzkoh: I think you spammed where more than I (which is very
impressive) you would have people summoned before I even knew they were around. I think if you had made mummy, things would have been a lot different right now. Sorry, I was really pulling for you.

Hedda: I remember telling you I would take care of you getting you in
and I think it was that session that I did. You had an excellent run
in Scion, obviously a great player.

Hylondin: Like you said I wish we were around more at the same time, I would have loved to explore more places.

Troenlar: Wow were you a jerk to me at first (I realize it was your
RP). It was my RP however to just blow off the task you had for me and just to pray every time I killed an enemy of scion..I think after my tenth pray I was inducted.

Various inductees: I tried to give everyone a shot. Why people
hounded me and then when they got inducted..they just stopped logging
in is beyond me.

And finally Restraal: I have no idea what I can say. I think we first met in the mid twenties?, it was really so long ago. When I found out you wanted to be a scion as well I was pleased..when I found out you got inducted before me, I was not. After a bit I got in and that’s where our ride started. It got to the point where we just knew what to do, we literally cleared whole ranges as in made everyone in our pk range a ghost. I think we had a few eight - ten kill nights against horrible odds. You're obviously a veteran player (anything I needed to know, you knew the answer to..for a few gold at least). We had a good thing going and I'd be lying if I said I would not miss logging on and seeing Restraal: Giant, where are you? We have much work to do.

Anyway, that was a lot and I am sure I missed some people. I encourage players to change their attitudes and the way they act towards each other and give this game the respect it deserves.

Before I forget, my toughest opponents, these are the guys I would try to avoid unless I had bothered to gather some preps (as in the Furnace made me do it): Kelin, Arrazn, Shaquatana, Dralkoz (pre-fist). Good job.

You definatly had a presence. I was never afraid to throw myself at the Scion Horde unless you were around. People will say, I'm sure, that "you never fought alone" and were "nothing without Restraal." I say BS. You knew what was up, and a Scion should be expected to use the horde, bravery and all that don't apply. I say good job playing a fire giant Scion warrior just how it should be played.

You were a beast going around, at least to those of us who had to go against you dual wielding swords that we are weak against with that legacy and a flurry ready, heh. I knew there wasn't really much I could do against you, but I had fun with our one liners and our little chats here and there. Good job on the char, and hope to see you in the fields. As to the not seeing of late, I had a rough time were work needed me a bunch, and some other things I'll get into when I delete. Anyways, hope to see you around in the fields, maybe sometime we'll end up on the same side.

We only had one fight, just the two of us, and you fled before dying. I was hoping we'd have a lot of matchups, I'm sure we both would have won and lost. I was sort of chuckling when you came to me on the water and started bashing, only to see yourself getting hurt more. Unfortunately you got one bash in that lagged me for the full four rounds, so my flurry command didn't go in before you fled. Ah well, c'est la vie right?

Obviously a strong character and willing to mix it up, which is exactly what cf needs. Come back for more.

I was going to try and say something positive about you here, but screw it. You want to get the ball rolling this way then thats fine. You would seldom fight me alone, and the times you did, you fled or died. I saw you on without Restraal (and others) maybe a total of three times after you made it to the hero ranges. I don't know if this was everyones experience with you, but to me you were just another ganking Scion who would log in and out en masse. Bringing 6 people to fight one uncaballed elf is, no matter how you look at it, sad. In Aheluns mind, this pleased him, because you obviously rembered the beatings I gave you in our solo fights and felt the terror. The more people you brought, obviously the more you were scared to fight him alone. To me it just made you a puss.

Please post all of these solo fights (when you are ready).

For my part:
Granaak was a fire giant warrior, of Scion..Sphere destruction. I tried to destroy any part of my enemy/scion enemies that I could.

Making an Elf (Helpfile: Elf) Paladin (Helpfile: Paladin) whine and complain was a true highlight for me, I enjoyed it immensely.

My thoughts on Granaak, well I knew you through two characters and well IC neither of them liked you very much which is to be expected cause you did a very good job of role playing a fire giant. I watched as you learned how to use your various specs and I remember back when you used to die a lot but you got a LOT better and I was impressed. While you were no blitzenturt or somesuch you were very competant and knew when you could not win and avoided those situations and when you knew you had an advantage you pressed it hard which is why very few people liked you, it was very effective but for those who were fighting you it was very frustrating.

As to your comments about my character, well the goading is intentional, You play a shield paladin for over 300 hours and you too will want to tear out your hair in almost every solo pk situation, they are not fun at all to kill solo and I think only healers are worse at solo pk than them, thats not to say they are weak but they are not hard to avoid dieing too, so part of me has shown through the character a little bit in an attempt to actuallky have a chance at a fun fight. That being said and not in an attempt to start a flame war maran has been in power for ohh about 2 weeks, but I recall ohh about a month or two of me being alone ducking and dodging and attacking 3-6 man scion ganks that were always grouped together and clearing ranges so to say that some of us never fight alone is completly innacurate.

Yeah, I liked Granaak.. given that we never grouped or travelled together or even fought joint enemies in the same area at the same time. Maybe it was the logs you posted of you and Restraal cleaning house (to me it read like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid - you guys really seemed to have a palpable camaraderie), maybe it was you staying logged in as a warrior-class when you were outnumbered many-to-one, I don't know - but something about you seemed pretty cool.

Never got to interact with you much other than you beating my scaly butt all over the place. I enjoyed the fight we had on the river in Galadon. That death roll thing crocs can do is handy sometimes, ya still woulda made a belt outta me if it hadnt been for that tribby shark showin up. Granaak seemed like a really interesting character and I wish I could have figured more out about him ICly. I didnt know people were taunting like that, seems a little out of place for characters in the fortress. Maran arent supposed to take pleasure in their killing of evils. Taunting seems a bit over the line, which is why Zak ever does. That and you would have tracked me down and beat me like a salvation army drum. Sad to see you go though, you made the game alot more interesting and dangerous when you were around. And anyone who says you were nothing without restraal dont know their ass from a hole in the ground. Both of you were terrifying alone, when ya got together it was truely frightening.

For the longest time I did not even know who the crocodile was..that is until I caught you at the bakery =) ALMOST had you.

As far as the taunting goes. It seems run of the mill to me from certain characters and usually I can pick out who will go that route after a few interactions. But, I'm glad and I could tell you were not like that.

As far as us not being able to RP/speak more..well I was a tight lipped giant (via role) and of course you were a crocodile =)

...when you flurried me so bad that I can only scarcely imagine what my corpse must have looked like (maybe just a pile of bloody ####?). I was itching...ITCHING for a rematch ever since then. I really wanted to go toe-to-toe with you one more time, but it was not to be. I have to say that at first I had a feeling towards you similar to what everyone else's was, but I realized it was simply because you guys were on your upswing when I was clawing my way up the ranks, and so you were all always around. There is not a damned thing wrong with that. In fact, it can be really fun to have a steady group of cabal buddies to run amuck with, explore with, and do questy stuff with. I respect you for playing your character very well, and I thought you were cool besides.

Even though the Fortress is on an upswing, it's not nearly as bad as some people make it sound...evils are coming up, and even now they sometimes coalesce together to form a monster reminiscient of you and the rest back in your heyday. If anything, I think you and the other hardcore Scions should be thanked for REALLY getting the ball rolling and the pendulum swinging. Somewhere right in the middle, when a few goodies delete and a few baddies rank up, it's going to be total mayhem. I hope you're back up in the high ranks when that comes around.

Hey, what can I say my forms were designed to fight your type of person. Defense/defense, bleh, good to explore, good to fight, but mongoose/lemur, just ugh. Our fight was exactly what I expected. You impressed me how you decided to stick to saying what you said and even faught for it. What you may or may not of known, before I fight I was fully prep'd and caught you in the swamp which made it one sided. How you died I won't ever know, from the swamp to the snow worm and dead in nearly a heartbeat was weird. I could assume many things but I hate being wrong so I won't assume anything . As for me beating you in the fight, me fully prep'd, expecting the fight, ready for it and I was Advisor for a reason, not because I'm totally idiotic and throw in you being caught a LITTLE unaware and it was one sided. With the HP I had going into it and my form made to fight your type, I knew how it was going to turn out generally. Anyways, you were great to have around. I knew when you were around things were going to get intresting or boring because opposition went down. Lemur/mongoose plus you and often times Restraal and the fights were normally short lived and some even got boring. Well, as you may or may not of noticed my time has been short lately, but for others in Scion and others not that care, that will change soon. Scion just took a blow, I hope the void is filled, but it's a big void to kill. Well good luck and I hope you have fun with the next, all I have to say is I'm glad I'm up out of mortal harm, I wouldn't enjoy fighting your possible up coming villager.

I knew you would be fully prep'd and I knew I was in trouble in the swamp, but I had to go for it..as for how I died..I do not want to talk about it =) hehe.

Well I definetly noticed you were gone, I had some things I wanted to talk to you about. But anyway, it was nice to have met you and hope you do well up there. It's unfortunate that Granaak cannot interact with what I would say was the first era of my scion life anymore.

My villager will not be around for ahilw I'm taking a break for a little bit..hopefully scion will bulk up by then =)

I like to call it how many times.

How many times have you had Spirit Breaker for your dual wield and went after three villagers (with one whip spec) at the Destructor knowing full well you're not coming back out but just hoping you'd take one or two with you?

How many times have you logged on and had a whole range clear out
because you have TWO other cabalmates on?

How many times have you played a sphere Destruction character and
killed at least one of each class (minus berserkers I'd feel to bad
killing orcs)?

...can say for each time a cabal killed you, you took down at least 5
of them in return?

...log on and see four tribs and think, four tribs..thats eight guards and bloody manacles..I think we should go for them?

...kill fourty five villagers with one character?

...had a 90 damroll and get beat up by a lemur? =)

damn now I really miss Granaak =(

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is I had many many solo fights. But I
prefer group vs group fights..it is certainly not my fault that my side did not die as much.

Just to clarify, I never said anything about your character being bad at all. I think he was a very decent well rounded char. So while you spent that whole time defending yourself, you should have just been admitting that you ganged alot. My only point was that you don't see over 2.00 gank-0-meter too often. And you say you had alot of solo fights. Youre right, you did, and you lost them by the looks of the gank-0-meter. Calm down already.

Direct us to some of your character's pbfs, SkoalMint. I'm sure between the imm comments and amazing pk records/ratios, Granaak can learn a thing or two.

Granaak, it seems to me you had guts beyond many I have seen. I spend a bit of time watching Scions, and many detractors will fill obliged to say you had a healer at your hip. It didn't matter in the long run, you cleaned your ranger pretty well. Listening to Villagers saying they wished you would go to sleep because they didn't want to face you, is quite a testament to your ability. Yes you died, but you took it well, nothing more could be asked.

When you told me that the fire in you was begining to run cold, I had to agree...it was time for you to go. Like many with whom I interact, I keep an image of you for the Gallery, for in my mind, you were quite a piece of art.

I had a lot of fun with you, and was always glad when you logged on. We didn't run around that much together unless we were raiding, although I'm not sure why. I guess you tended to run with Restraal.

I still think you should have learned to carry some preps you stubborn b&*(^%d, but I let it go when you managed to stand up to me in the chasm.
Of course then your ego got out of wack and I ended up having to boot you. ;> Still, if you had the patience to collect preps I think it could have knocked you up a notch in deathfulness. But you managed to win a lot of fights I expected you to lose, and I'm still not really sure how.

I was happy to help bring you back into Scion and eventually help with questy stuff for you.

You generally had a great attitude about dying.

Muuloc did a sculpture about you after your death, let me know if you want to see it.

But after awhile you were quickly becoming my favorite person to talk to. I felt like I had a connection with you moreso than Dreaa or Eshval. I really needed that boot out of Scion for a bit. I assure you it was IC ego only.

I would love to see the sculpture and I don't want to hear another word about preps! I sure hated gathering them.

Standing twenty feet tall, this black iron sculpture is larger than life. An immense fire giant is frozen mid-roar, one massive mace raised above his head, the other thrust out to the side, counter-balancing the ruthless swing. He has been cast into hard planes and edges, not the round muscles of true flesh, giving him an unearthly look. His head is mostly bald, yet jagged pieces of copper wire jut out in patches. Obsidian shards glisten beneath a low, looming brow. He stands naked from the waste up, only a piece of midnight dragon hide hangs about his waste. Where the sharp planes of his chest would be, instead there is a grizzled iron cage of ribs. Within the cage a small Black Flame burns, shedding shadows that writhe about the giant's form.

You seemed like a great char..never whining even if you lost a really good set, but kept trucking. Much respect there, enjoyed all our fights, wish we could have met/fought more Take care.

I sure avoided you. For some reason no matter what I did your neuro attacks were just brutal on me. You are correct I was never overly concerned with gear, I enjoyed fine blades but that was about it. You were just a nightmare to deal with. Good job.

First off, thanks for all the good times--especially killing those kobolds. Now that got the ball rolling for me, back in October!

Judging from the complaining both in-game and on the forums, we were doing something right when we ran guns together. You deserved your personal echo and everything else you got. People confuse a bloodthirsty M.O. with lack of RP, especially since you were always tight-lipped (as a fire giant should be imho) and sparse with your words.

I can see why you deleted, and I'm facing the same problem. Although it's true that cabal balance swings back and forth, it's swung so far to the goodies that it becomes unfun when you consistently log on to no allies and 6-7 goodies. This isn't to say that they are doing anything wrong, but still the fact remains that it becomes a chore to play, and I'm going to guess that is the reason you went out the way you did.

In any case, thanks again. You were definitely one of Restraal's only allies, and I know the reason there weren't more coups is that potential usurpers knew I had your backing and would have to deal with those swords of yours. I have pretty much my entire life logged, so if there are any specific logs you want to see, let me know.

Honestly if I could have changed my legacy choices around and had to keep the same weapon spec's. I would have dropped warcry (Even before the change) and gone Greeting instead.

It was less to do with the Cabal swing and more to do with just not having the same desire to play Granaak. We wiped a few bad ranges in our times old friend.

And yes I can assure you tried to get past Granaak and to you but one "snarl" was enough to have them keep their distance.

For those who care, the point was that Maran at the moment consistently has a great deal of active heroes, while Scion has three. Yes, cabal balance swings, but playing under these odds for weeks on end is a difficult and trying task. Sure, every once in a while, I can round up the horde, but certainly with no consistency. That is why Granaak's presence will be so sorely missed by me, by Scion, and most likely by his enemies--because of his ferocity and uncaring attitude towards odds or circumstance.

Perhaps if you play your cards right, you may get more than 20 pks in 600 hours this time around and really show us all how it's done. I'm now playing my third paladin, ever. You're just bitter and angry and thats understandable. The point you made was that the pendulum was out of balance, and heavily slanted towards good. My point was that it's not, it varies by time as demonstrated by the log. You bitched because three Fortress showed up with you standing right outside and considered it an "unbalance". I showed that you aren't really one who ought to be judging an unbalance. It's not as one sided as you want to make it seem, my log was to show this. If you want to take it personally, then thats your problem not mine. Not everything is a personal attack on you.

Granaak was a good, solid evil fighter. He was a ganker of opportunity, and crafty when alone. None of his attributes as an evil guy required your long as hell log however, so don't try to make this a "How dare you try to make this about something other than Granaak" rant, because you opened that door yourself. I was just countering your "poor evils are overwhelmed by the bad bad goodies" rant.

Again, it wasn't about your character, but if you want to take it personally thats fine. It was about your point, and it's not being all inclusive like you wanted to make it out to be. But don't try to make this a personal thing, because it's not. I was just refuting your claims of how badly outmatched poor evil is all the time. It's not.

So, Granaak was complaining about too many marans being around to gang/raid/defend/etc. Ahelun responded showing and arguing that team Scion does their fair share of ganging/raiding/defending/etc with similar numbers. So your (and Granaak's) complaint is more about capacity to gank? There are simply more Maran heros and therefore they have a better chance of ganging? Or is it that Marans should gang less than team Scion due to the inherent differences between good and evil?

I'm not arguing either side, I'm just not able to follow your beef. As an aside, it seems kind of silly to be upset about such things on an OOC basis on the one hand, and yet justify your own actions on an IC basis on the other. In reading the various posts it seems to me that both you and Granaak argue that because you are/were evil IC, you should be allowed to gang whenever/wherever, and yet also come OOC to complain about goodies doing exactly the same thing. So your complaints are OOC that marans gang, yet IC you (correctly imo) justify your actions regarding ganging. Wouldn't ganging be justifiable IC in both cases, and yet still cause OOC complaining in both cases?

What am I missing?

Just lost the fire. I could have certainly been about for a long time, it just would not have been the same Granaak and that would not have been good for anyone. To bad we did not get to travel together more, I would have liked that.
