But a battle thief's gotta do what a battle thief's gotta do.

This log is totally unedited.

hmmm missed logging the blackjack and binding as he headed up to Tar Valon. It was complete luck I got the blackjack. Since he is sneaking and I knew he was near I just hit blackjack once and, "BINK" it hit him, I was so surprised I started laughing in my chair.

Enjoy!

Thanks, I had no idea who that last death was to. You had my head bound so I couldn't see. I couldn't even get the unbind command off. Damn that cheap shot is a nice skill. Next time it's arial for certain...

You hit the blackjack when all of my shields, and shield of winds, had 0 hours on them left. You deserve the luck title.

Thanks for the log.

Wow. Waiting till jack wears off in order to trip. Wish I'd thought of that when I played a thief.

And...why not just recall instead of unbinding? Or does bind prevent it?

I'd have had to throw an unbind in there to get into the backpack. I think unbind can only be done standing...not sure though.

You can't unbind while resting, but as a dark-elf who was just blackjacked/robbed... you have enough inventory space to get something out, or you have some potion you can use in your inventory. Or you're stupid. I can rephrase it for you if you like, though, to accommodate incompetence:

rest;wait for thief to knife/backstab/attack (can't trip, you're resting);c word

My point was that I can't see the backpack to get something out of it unless I unbind the thing off my head first. So you're idea was wrong and would not have worked. Watch who you're calling stupid, bub.

Did I have a potion in my inventory? No. Why not? Because as mentioned before this was my third death in a row and the first two times I was full looted. I was rebuilding. So shoot me.

You're last idea was much better. (Or at least correct which is an improvement over the first one.) Thanks.

I didn't know if bind prevented it. I was torn between which to do. I think I did try c wo;unbind so that I would unbind when I recalled and maybe still see him before he hid again.

Can you drink potions while resting? I was thinking one tactic around this might be to just rest;quaff return. Since then his trip would never work while I sat.

ah well, we'll leave that as an experiment to the reader.

Man...did I suck as an invoker. Totally completely sucked...

I thought I'd be a good one, I thought I'd plan it out carefully and always know which spell to cast at exactly the right time. I wouldn't be like those invoker logs that only used one or 2 spells over and over again, I'd use all my spells. Nope, I'm healing marans with fire spells, hitting mobs with cones of colds I didn't want to hit, and spamming controlled fireball on air forms not even thinking of using buffet.

I figured I'd learn, but when? I can't tell you how many times I was tripped/cheap shotted to death without casting a single spell (they'd always jack me and my shield of winds ALWAYS had < 2 hours on it when they did, always). At least with a transmuter you're form is doing it's thing while you fight, with a conjurer your servants assist while you'r fighting, an invoker just stands there and hope one command goes through while you fight hand to hand for 12 rounds til you die....gee what fun. I should have listened to the guys on dioxides and made an arial, but no, I wanted to roleplay. (The thing is, I knew I sucked so bad I was too embarrassed to even approach any god to talk. Being sphere victory and all and just being horrible is a bad, bad match.)

Plus after playing two goodies I was totally unprepared for the Scion thing.... Every single cabal wanted me dead at all times, with the exception of Nexus only wanting me dead half the time. I'd walk out of my guild for 5 minutes and get hit with a battle assassin and a nexite air-form immediately and that's just going from arkham guild to candi's let alone trying to make it to another town... I swear to you once going from arkham to galadon I got attacked by 2 air forms, an assassin, a ranger and a thief trying to blackjack me before I made it to galadon. (Where I died in the east gate to the bleeding caused by the assassin's sword through my throat.) Today I had the destinction of dying 3 times in 38 minutes, figured that's a good sign it's time to go...

Shields aren't what I thought they'd be anyway. I spent 125 hours to get all 6, was real proud of it and palainds wraths are still hitting me for ***DEVASTATES*** with all 6 shields plus shield and/or aura. A little drow can only take so many of those. It's sweet when some idiot charges you with a shocking wepaon or something, then you just own him, but they never usually make that mistake a second time...

I think I'll try an invoker again some day (arial for certain), but right now I need something a little less vulnerable that can actually hold it's own in some fights...

Relzin had few friends, just people he shielded, so all of you take care. Good luck Scions, it sucks being the enemy of the world, you guys who really stick it out have more guts then me.

One of the best invokers in scions and gone?! Damn you! Just recall how did we fight Zors at the grove and how did we suck.
Damnit, damnit, damnit!
You must admit, you couldn't stand that opposition
Looks like it's my fate to be underunderunderdog.
F#$%k.

P.S. As a voker you need some TIME to learn how to fight on hero ranks. You didn't bother to try - and you allready had your damned shields. Damn you!

I'm finding invoker quite a struggle as well, though I've just started to get the hang of it, but being a wrath target would really be the icing on the cake.

I can't say I feared you, but then what invoker ever fears another invoker, but you did seem to know what you were doing. It it a shame that another 'voker has deleted.

The shields are fantastic though, but you have to anticipate your enemy. I too would go arial next time round to make use of this. Those other shields are great for protecting against attacks like pincer and cranial. Most enemies are one-trick ponies so won't think to switch to something more effective in time.

I couldn't agree with you more, I needed much more time to learn to play an invoker well. I just didn't feel I was getting the time with all my enemies all over my back. I did, right before deleting, think of mothballing Relzin and just using him as a practice dummy...but I think that would have been a betrayal of a good character. Relzin was made to win and lead (hence sphere victory), I couldn't even stand up in some fights...

Besides, my primary goal was just to see if I could get shields. After that I felt half of Relzin's battles were over. After you accomplish your main objective in life, I found I had no real other goals. (Well other then to get Zulgh's tattoo, but the way I was getting my butt handed to me, I didn't even want to try.)

I'm not soured on invokers, or scion, not by a long shot. I just think that perhaps after playing transmuters (which are without a doubt to me the easiest class by far to play) that jumping right to invokers (one of the hardest to play well from my experience) was a bit of a leap to me. I need to get a few more groundings in some other disciplines of the game first. It's been way too long since I've played most of the fighting classes, maybe I need to remind myself why I like mages so much...

Rock on Scions...

Pity, pity... You know, I must be sick, but I enjoyed all that practice that my voker had. After invoker you realise how easy other classes are perfecting their spells

I recommend you to try another voker with not so stupid ( ) sphere. Ah, and set as a global goal to perfect ALL spells and gain mastery in elemental magic (like double avalanches). With need of perfecting immolation you will surely last long enough to become fearful voker.

Heh .. Good to see someone trying the other side and realise it's not the sweet life it seems to be. Anyhow, just wanted to tell you how I agree with most thing you'd said about invokers. They are hell to play unless you really really know what you are doing. Good for team exploring but since scions really have no team it makes it kind of a lonesome thing. Due to the state of scions I have changed away from my beloved necromancers and are currently getting my ass handed to me with a warrior and an assassin (Well, perhaps not to 30% sphere victory but still). Just don't do the easy thing and make another paladin.

You know, paladins ain't that easy. And considering them... invokers a whole lot easier. Besides, skillfull invoker is a machine of mass destruction. Especially for races vuln to elements - fire giant may die from one cone with some luck. Same goes for arials and pillar. And if your voker have insect swarm... or forceduel...
As a voker, I always been scared of necromancers. But with counterspell necromancers just a joke to invokers.

By the way. I enjoy counterspell damn much, as I enjoyed insect swarm before... but damn it, remove this #####, guys. It's plain disbalancing (and don't tell me that counterspall have it's mysterious "bad" sides - it's nothing but a mockery).

I saw a few of your last deaths. Bad stuff. Out of curiosity, why did you walk out of your guild in Arkham into a pack of marans? Watching it go down, I was thinking, "Well, guess he'll teleport and that'll be that." Already decided to delete by that time?

I could only harm Johan, and he was only a human after all. I thought the guildguard would last longer then he did and that my autosneak would give me a first shot to maybe buffet him out of the room.

I was wrong on just about all counts. He hit me the second I arrived, no idea how he saw me. Probably just sat there spamming 'pincer relzin'. The guildguard died in like 3.5 seconds, damn weakling humans again for you. And of course my precious shields and shield item did much more damage reduction in my imagination then it ended up doing in reality.

I actually thought I might win (not for certain but no risk no gain). There shows you how bad I was at it.

Did you have the shield that prevents pincer lag? I don't know which it is, but I'm pretty sure there is one. With him lagging you, it's a real tough sell. Esp. since he was bound to be sanc'd, and had paladins there to heal him.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, that was two hi-avg mithril axes + haste. In that case, just 6 invoker shields + shield (and a miscalculated choice of protective shield) gives me a pretty decent shot of running you off. But give you 6 invoker shields, a/b/s, stoneskin, haste, good choice of prot. shield, and I'm quaffing 90% of the time. Unless, of course, I have two amazing paladins aiding me with heals. (in which case it's 80% ). Anyway, if you want my advice, never rely on shield of winds (always use flying + another utility-specific choice of prot. shield). As silly as it sounds, PKing seems to be all about preparation and keeping yourself from underestimating the opposition. But that's just the evil mechanics side of me talking, ja?

Can't see why. You were sanced, that offset all my protections right there in a damage v. damage battle. Plus you're a maran so my best indoor spell is useless against you. You definately had the advantage once the battle started...I was just hoping to surprise you and not let it start by keeping you buffetting from room to room.

Never learn if you don't try and fail... I learned that 125 hours of an invoker wasn't the end of the work needed to keep even with a warrior with friends, it was just the beginning...

Yes, If I had a/b/s ,stone skin, haste and a howitzer I would have beaten you... When was I supposed to find (much less gather) that stuff with you guys and ever other maran/warlock/sylvan/battle/nexite coming to smash my guildguard and slaughter me every time I tried to rest my head?

Anyway, it was a fun fight for all it lasted. I think I improved parry once so there's always a bright side.
