#17575, "(DEL) Jhaelryna the Withering Eye, Chancellor of Scion."

Wow, it's been an enjoyable ride. With school, military (work), and now all these political social "meeting" (which is pretty much just finger-pointing), I really have no time to play anymore. I started playing CF on maple.net way back in high school, and you really take for granted how much free time you had back then.

Jhaelryna was created after I returned from my (relatively short) deployment and after a premature Xandera deletion, but it was fine since I got hazard pay and the entire month tax-free for a week of work *cackle*.

I had a good background story for her, but i'm lazy and never bothered to put it into her role, so I basically had no role all her life. For any of you who think having no role = no immortal interaction is talking crap. All that really matters is how you roleplay.

It's kind of cheezy, but basically she was a commoner in the drow city before she was abducted by two dying dragons who placed their souls into two wards and sealed them to the sides of her head just above the ears. For the first two hundred hours or so, she really had no memory of her past life, so she didn't know the difference between good and evil. With all the "goodies" back then running about attacking her, it's no wonder she grew cold. She felt there was something more she could/had to do with her life, and joined scions, seeking a greater purpose. As soon as the scepter touched her, the wards began to become corrupted and she began to remember her former life. At the same time, the dragons were awakened.

The first dragon was a golden female (yes as in "good"). She slowly became corrupted by the Scepter, but she retained most of her affinity for other dragons and among other things didn't often see kindly on them being killed for petty reasons. The second dragon was a black male (as in "bad").

Jhaelryna basically had three personalities in her mind at one time, and most of the conflict was internal, and was not very "visible" to everyone else. I wished to kind of muddle the black/white philosophies that are so prevalent here, however you can't really do anything really interesting without being an immortal due to the static code-base. I played an OOM, and enjoyed how you can pretty much change anything on the mud, but unfortunately some people here are immature brats, and that level of power can't be given to everyone. It's amazing how many people will cheat at trivial games.

Valgie - I was very surprised that I received the Chancellorship again. Hallistra, Xandera, and now Jhaelryna... jeez. I thought Aginal was going to get it, and kind of wanted to watch him happily skip about, eradicating everyone in sight. Alas, that was not to be. I like the new "look" of the scions, but then again, i'm addicted to mystery novels, so I'm hooked immediately. Sorry about leaving so soon "again", and I hope I didn't suck to much. By the way, either i'm stupid, or you're more subtle than i anticipated since I couldn't figure out anything new in Kteng's.. though I did defend "Jhaelryna's little laboratory" from quite a few people. Thanks for the interactions and the title... btw.. what made you think of that title anyways, I was rather surprised by it actually.

Nepie - Silent Tower is death incarnate. It seems most of the area's puzzles can kill you if you arn't perfect in the symmantics and syntax, or didn't have overwhelming strength. I always like exploring w/o a posse, especially since most of the puzzles will be just copied by them later on, and then suddenly the entire mud has the answers and most didn't do a thing, which will make you want to change them, making you jaded.. and then the cycle will just repeat itself. Thanks also for the interactions, I hope you were not to disappointed.

Nizarya(sp?) - That spider immortal? I kept that amulet for you, but then I fell in love with it. I do wonder what would have happened had you actually had talked to me, but I wasn't really into praying continually when there was just so MUCH to do!

Darian - cool character. I enjoyed our "meetings". I really wish our playing times overlapped better, but I wish a lot of things . Hopefully you know a little bit better my reasons for my seemingly inane reactions.

Jolaerg - Heh, i was laughing as well in the Underdark. You really shouldn't have lost that axe again, but promises are promises after all *smile*. You really should have used polearms more, especially since I gave you that Thunderlance twice.

Ghuljun - Arrogant? Cold? What were you expecting, a happy go lucky drow chancellor who gives pink flowers to orphans? C'mon man, i'm a bitch from hell. Btw, I was always ready for backstabs, kinda expected it really, though it never happened. It would have been a fun change of pace, but oh well. Luck to you... you'll need it!

Alarn - I still can't believe you wanted me to throw you out, and for THOSE reasons?? AND THEN YOU BEGIN EXPLORING THE TOWER AFTER!!! *loud sigh* You really should have talked to me, and I would have dragged your hairy ass in their cause I needed help, but the char wasn't about to ask for it.

Zekasiq - my char. couldn't stand an unkept woman, and so had to fix that hair! You were SOO cute to.. awwww.

Merzofzyauhn - You began so well, and then suddenly your personality changed 180 degrees. Why?? Well, at least it was a fun week!

Thornarcrull - What can I say, it fit my rp. My character was super wary of you, and you would not believe what I did behind the scenes to piss you off/slow you down... hope you enjoyed it!

Hvetlin - Was impressed by that interview. I do wonder who your chancellor char. was...

Caysh - Oh wow!! I got stunned for 5 hours just two seconds after I sent you that tell in the mountains... had you had come down and dispelled me, you would have whupped my ass! So.. was your guess on who I was correct?

Kamandee - Beast.
Aginal - Beast, see Valgie.
Seinmolis - Such high hopes for the village using you.. oh well.
Cardiel - Nice fights.. I recall many times your entire posse died except for you!
To all the warlock invokers - I wish I had counterspell.. it's very sick when you have tons of mana and by the time I dispel enough of your shields to do some damage, all mine are gone... but at least I never got stoneshattered! *wink*

Um.. i'm at work, so my time is limited (big surprise). For anyone I missed, i'm sorry

Hrm, i've had so many characters, I can't really remember most of them. The only ones who vaguely stick out in my mind are Nashanio (I think that's the name), an imperial dreadlord who was around during istendil's time, and a cool female necromancer who was an arbiter leader and helped Udgaard beat on Ofcol and change it to Tir-Taleth.
I had a couple maran too, before the cabal started, buncha entropy, and a sylvan leader who I couldn't remember the name if my life depended on it.

Have fun all, and remember.. this is just a freaking GAME!

HAH! I remember you fixing my hair and constantly complaining about my "appearance." Aneriasha mainly was the one to "make me a lady" by dressing me and showing me how to walk in heels, etc. Jhaelryna instilled in me the desire to remain well-groomed, and each time I used a silver comb from the Island, or otherwise fixed my hair, I thought of you. And it of course was especially funny to me when I would "locate grapes" and see a half-dozen on you... always.

GREAT job with the character. I always enjoyed hunting with you. An Invoker and a Healer? Damn, that was a fun combo. In my earlier years, before I was told to stay away from aiding Scion, any time you were up for hunting or raiding I'd be there, and I'd like to think I was a help, seeing as your own healers weren't around as much as I was. Hell, I was just thinking about it the other day. 450 hours in about 70 days of play. That's 5 hours average... and for a good two weeks I was on for an hour or so a day. I'd say most days I was on 6 hours solid. Fun, fun.

Well played, good luck with your next... though players like you (and I'd even venture to say myself as well) don't require "luck"... we make our own opportunities through our actions.

I enjoyed you and yourt role a lot. Competition and intrigues! Though I knew who you are since we met first time: staff and your stlye still the same as Hallistra had... I'm glad that secret didn't go further, as you promised me earlier. Another time, Yiz.

So, was the crown thing all a lie, or could it truly have had significance for us. I didn't get to steal from you often, but when I did, it was fun. Good luck with the next, great work from what I saw. However, I will say, when you guys had a descent advantage, you seemed to rarely press it. Oh well, Darian was holed up in the inn all the time, so that had to be frustrating!

Amazing character, ever since you were like rank 34 you were considered a strong enemy. I remmeber you were trying to recover the sceptre, and I was shielding the ranger, but you just kept coming.

I wish I had fought you more, but it really apeard as if you were never there, I mean, when you were logged on, I never got to see you. Just a few times during raids, which for a drow invoker you did very good. And yes I remember you killing my entire group before fleeing. dispelling my rangers, and stoneshatering their cloths. Few but very nice fights. I specially like one time when I teleported right infornt of you, in the piramid. I imdiately tiped, c immo jhaelryna, but you just teleported away.

Jhaelryna tells you 'You either have impresive luck, or very high conection'

Believe me I was laughing in the ground. amazing odds.

Anyway, Congrats.

By far one of the best roleplayed characters I interacted with on CF during Fahnrore's time. You definitely had guts and tenacity as one of the few Scions around. There were a couple of times I'd go after you in the Silent Tower, but I'd die getting there or you would leave right after I got there. Come back as a goodie!

You slam your shield into Jhaelryna, and send her to the ground!
Jhaelryna looks stunned by your shield bash.
Your shield bash grazes Jhaelryna.

You always seemed to have another trick up your sleeve somewhere, which made fighting you always interesting.
From my per-fortress raids on the chasm up right up to our last encounter.
I agree that when you didn't show for raid situations I knew you were in the tower, I used to tell people how obsessed you were with it =0) You played the condesending drow to the hilt. I'll dig out the log of you cackling as I went down to a pack of folks at the chasm.

see you in the fields

Man, you were one of the coolest chars to interect with whether it was fighting or our verbal spars. You will be missed. A shame you are gone though towards the end it was getting to easy to kill you. Rot was the way to go. You must have drained your con in the silent tower :p. See ya around.

Yeah you did a good job invoking (no pun intended) the fear into everybody. Most people wouldn't hunt you one on one and I didn't want to be a pansy. So the few times that I actually saw you I wouldn't back down. I know I wasn't really too effective but then again I stayed alive long enough too. I just never really had the damage out put to kill and invoker.

A really great character. I hope you stick with evil it really suits you.

I thought it was really wierd that you were never around for the fighting too... I guess the stuff with Silent Tower and Ktengs explains it though. We fought a few times, but the vast majority of times it was us against everyone except you. I understand you and Darian saying that there's more to Scion than killing Maran/Ragers/Sylvans/whatever, and that you had to spend time in these quest areas for roleplay reasons... but really, isn't it important to your cabal to keep people from slaughtering your members, killing your guardians, invading your home, and taking your source of power? I can think of atleast two times off the top of my head where your presence, plus invoker shields for everyone else, would have almost completely turned the tide of battle. Anyway, it seems you had fun, and the imms sure seem to like what you did. Keep up the good work.

I can say without hesitation that I saw Jhaelryna and Darian do all of this every time they were aware of a raid. I can also say that if I had to pick a cabal where the members frequently failed to defend or retrieve at fair (or unfair) odds, current Scion would be the last cabal I would think of.

One cabal in particular that Jhaelryna fought against stood out as extra-gangy with a side order of ganging. It's definitely not Scion.

Wow, I guess we saw different things then. Now in fairness to Darian, he was level 50 when Ulthur died, and was therefore never in my pk range. My comment was more directed at Jhaelryna. Maybe she changed later on, because she certainly did not come to defend against us, nor try to retrieve from us on a number of occasions when others of the cabal did. Obviously, I wasn't the only one that saw it that way.

Aside from the redundancy of your statement, is this some kind of semi-vieled comment that Maran gang too much? Opinions on ganging aside, can you name a cabal that DOESN'T gang when it generally has the opportunity? And for that matter, what does ganging have to do with anything I said about Jhaelryna?

For a while there I had time and was trying to run a lot of assorted questy stuff and therefore was watching the various cabals a lot. . .

For what it's worth, I can't ever recall seeing Jhaelryna not try to defend a raid she was aware of at less than extreme suicide odds, and I can't recall ever seeing Jhae online while Scion was itemless and not be trying to do something about it. That something wasn't always charging the Maran/Sylvan/Warlock/Battle outerguardian personally. . . this definitely wasn't a character too proud to manipulate or recruit others to get in there and just play support for them. Your mileage may vary, but I don't have a problem with a character who takes the loss of their item very seriously without having to be the hero and fight every time.

Honestly, it was frustrating a lot of the time to watch Jhaelryna (among certain other characters, no, not all of which were Scion, though the smallness of that cabal certainly lent itself to it) fight her enemies. There were a lot of characters in their oppositional cabals/groups that were scared to death to deal with Jhae straight-up or even 2 or 3 on 1 that got very, very mouthy when (for example) seven or eight characters were allied raiding the Scion cabal and Jhae was the only Scion on.

That's annoying to watch as a third-party observer, and that's probably some of what you're reading in Valg's post. Obviously this wasn't every good-aligned or anti-Scion character at the time, and I certainly never saw that kind of self-important pettiness from Ulthur.

I'm not even going to copy in any quotes from Nep's post, because I agree and agree and agree. I in no way ment to take a cheap jab at Jhaeleryna, though I think Valg intrepreted it that way. I just remember two situations in particular when we beat a rougly evenly matched group of Scions, while Jhaeleryna was on but not there aiding them, and that the things that Alarn was complaining about explained it.

Obviously she did a good job, or she wouldn't have earned such praise.

I do hate it just as much when I'm vastly outnumbered, especially with people getting mouthy about it when they obviously hold an overwhelming advantage only because of their friends.

I know Jhaelryna asked me to come defend against a joint retrieval by battle and sylvan, and I was not a scion. I didn't feel manipulated though. I came because I wanted to on that occasion.

Enough Maran defended/raided alone. And towards the end of my character I was barely fought one or two on one (not that I was that good but people want a sure thing it seems). And I wouldn't say Scion is one of the less ganging cabals. At least not when I was around. But I would say Jhaelryna wasn't usually part of the huge groups unless she wanted something in particular. Well done on the character by the way. At first I didn't have much respect for you because it honestly seemed like you just let us walk all over the cabal and wouldn't talk to me either. Towards the end you became more aggressive and talkative though. Especially when we talk your staff

Lost count of the times I raided and Jhaelryna was a no show... 3 lightwalkers raiding, and 2 Scions able to defend, the Scions should defend, period. I find it unbelievable that she was in a no-recall or quest area everytime I raided...but I guess anything is possible.

She was however, very hard to find when she was hiding.

Nice job.

Well I am sorry to see Jhaelryna go, but such is life. I thought you did a great job with this character and I enjoyed watching and interacting with you the brief times I did. I had hoped to do somemore interactions with you, but I really couldn't come up with anything for you. I remember both your priors and I had liked them from both a mortal and immortal eyes, and I think Jhaerlryna was even better. I hope to see you again sometime and wish you well on your endeavors.

Damn im feeling alone, not even you nor Darian mentioned me in their farewells... I enjoyed the trips we had to the tower, and was hoping that we could travel there alot more than we did!

I think you did an excellent job, and i knew you where Hallistra! You gave me a hint that nearly made me fall of the chair.. You spoke about taking a group into hell, and giving me a sertain item that Hallistra took away from me!

Hope to see you in the fields!

One of the best characters I've seen. A standout in a cabal that recently has featured a lot of very interesting characters- there's been points recently where I'd be comfortable with anyone off the Scion roster leading it.

Since you asked, the title came out of your interview style. You had a knack for taking people completely off their guard and calling out the weaker applicants. The testament to the quality of your leadership was the quality of each Scion under you, and it was good to see a leader who wasn't afraid to remove subpar cabal members as needed. A lot of recent leaders of various cabals have been, in my opinion, far too lax with interviews, and it was good to see an emphasis on style over spaminduction and the dreaded helpfile readers. Especially noteworthy was your ability to customize interviews to applicants- this keeps it interesting for you, and is a better test of the applicant's overall character than a list of stock questions.

On one hand, I really like the smaller cabal- it fits the theme, which is intended to be closer to the dictionary definition of cabal than the broader CF definition. On the other, you led at a time when the cabal had a lot of enemies, and it was hard for you to find fair fights. I think you would have enjoyed the indirect repercussions of having Empire around- while Scion/Empire is by no means ultracompatible, having a non-allied force that is willing to take items and inflict casualties on Sylvan/Warlock/Fortress would have freed you up more for other things. Jhaelryna, like Halisstra (I'm not very surprised that was you) was feisty and tenacious, and always willing to mix things up even if it meant dying.

If you have any interviews with now-dead characters logged, could you post them here?

I can attest to the quality of the interviews. I can honestly say in seven plus years of playing I have never sat for a two hour initial interview. While I really wanted into Scion as a player, my role didn't fit well at all. I enjoyed the fact that Jhaelryna picked up on that. The dragonsouls facet of her role even came up in a subtle way. Anyway, I felt like I had dealt with a drow bitch when I stood up from the pc desk after the interview, and I appreciated the fact that you gave me a decent quest considering the restrictions of my role. I'm just used to being able to rp a little and spout a little mantra without putting time into a quest, especially one that involves other pcs, so I never really pursued it.

*** SNIP ***

You whisper to Jhaelryna 'I belive Ghuljun have send you a scroll? At least he said he would?!'

*** Had been talking with Ghuljun, he said he would send a scroll to Jhaelryna about us speaking ***

You give a aura wand to Jhaelryna.

Intently, Jhaelryna peers at a stout bronze wand, inspecting its quality.

You whisper to Jhaelryna 'For you to use, the wand that is'

Jhaelryna nods approvingly.

Jhaelryna whispers to you 'it's location?'

*** Snipped telling her to grant me good favour ***

You whisper to Jhaelryna 'I have been searching for you a long time'

Jhaelryna says 'stingy thing!'

Jhaelryna looks at you.

Zharaluzar looks upon you, and then back again.

Jhaelryna says to you 'Ghuljun recommends you, hrm?'

Tarragain nods slowly, his eyes expanding to the size of the lemur's.

You whisper 'At least he said he would write you a missive'

You whisper 'What he wrote in it i dont know'

Jhaelryna says 'note list'

You whisper 'But he wasnt disappointed he said'

Jhaelryna rolls her eyes, disgusted.

You flash everyone a wry little smile.

Jhaelryna says 'I see nothing in my library about you.'

Leaning towards Jhaelryna, Tarragain whispers something to her.

You whisper 'I see'

Tarragain says in 'a feral voice If Ghuljun recommends you as you say, why would he have not written a missive?'

You whisper 'He said i should write a scroll for you first, then he would write a scroll for you'

You whisper 'That i dont know Chancellor'

Jhaelryna raises an eyebrow.

You whisper 'but i dont come here lying'

You whisper 'I have nothing to gain by lying'

Tarragain chuckles to himself, a patch of hair forming on his neck.

You whisper 'If i told you we had spoken and it turned out we didnt, it wouldnt put me in a good position, would it?'

Jhaelryna narrows her eyes and nods to herself.

Jhaelryna says 'What did the two of you speak of?'

You whisper 'but its up for you to deside if we should speak now, or wait for the dark mage?!'

Jhaelryna says 'Did you promise him anything?'

Jhaelryna's eyes narrow dangerously as she looks in your direction.

You whisper 'I tend not to promise anything'

Jhaelryna chuckles politely.

You flash everyone a wry little smile.

You whisper 'We spoke of my past, why i seek the chasm'

You whisper 'What follows when ones joins '

You whisper 'As i said to the dark mage, im a willing learner, and a fast as well'

You whisper 'I think i now alot, but there is allways room for improvement'

You grin evilly.

Jhaelryna pauses, a thoughtful look on her face.

You whisper 'He said that joining the chasm would be harsh and painfull '

You whisper 'As your outnumbered so far'

Jhaelryna says 'being cautious is one thing, sometimes it is useful, other times it is not quite so.. advantagous.'

Jhaelryna chuckles politely.

You whisper 'But yet i still seek you'

Zharaluzar leans towards a wooden staff and takes a rest.

Jhaelryna says 'You think I will embrace anyone that seeks my secrets just because we are few?'

Jhaelryna throws back her head and laughs into the night.

You chuckle politely.

You whisper 'If you did, you wasnt Chancellor for quite long i would imagine'

Jhaelryna smirks.

You whisper 'Few and deadly is better than many and chaos'

Jhaelryna says 'quality is far superior than quantity, Zharaluzar. I require something unique from each member.'

You whisper 'Indeed, and i would say that im unique'

Jhaelryna says 'I disdain swarms, and will not lead such a pack of ill-breed hoodlums.'

You whisper 'Few holds the healing powers as i do, some know the lands as well i do'

You whisper 'I shall not weaken the fold Chancellor'

Jhaelryna says 'Your priestly gifts are quite an asset, but there are many healers, many who came into the Fold... and who are no longer plague us.'

Jhaelryna looks at you.

You whisper 'If i do, you will not think twice in removing me again Chancellor'

Jhaelryna chuckles politely.

You whisper 'Im a thinker Chancellor my place is not in the front line '

You whisper 'But just a few steps behind'

You whisper 'That way i have the view of what is going on, and can react upon what i see'

Jhaelryna says 'I do not bring members into the Fold, just so I can watch them and throw them out when I am irked.'

You whisper 'I know Chancellor i just stated that there would be little point in me seeking you'

Jhaelryna nods.

You whisper 'If i knew i wouldnt fit in and strengthen the fold'

You whisper 'Most can speak well, but few can prove the words they speak'

Jhaelryna says 'Perhaps, but words are sometimes their own dagger.'

You whisper 'but what you have to guide you in your desition is only words and what you have seen so far'

You whisper 'Indeed, words can be deadly'

You whisper 'If spoken correct'

Zharaluzar looks at you, her eyes glowing.

Producing a small rag from her pocket, Jhaelryna uses it to rub a stout bronze wand clean.

You whisper 'We seek to bind the plane of night with this one'

Jhaelryna chuckles politely.

You whisper 'Making it one'

Jhaelryna says 'Perhaps... currency is often dependant upon where you... are.'

Jhaelryna throws back her head and laughs into the night.

Jhaelryna says 'Why do you care if this is done?'

You whisper 'I dont like the world as it is today'

You whisper 'I seek the power that will eventually come with the night'

You whisper 'To those who are strong and daring enough to reach for it'

You whisper 'When i was young'

You whisper 'I was thrown out from the city in witch i was born'

You whisper 'Our city, the city of drows'

You whisper 'I saw the matron mother as weak and said it loud'

Producing a small rag from her pocket, Jhaelryna uses it to rub an unholy symbol of the Spider Goddess clean.

You whisper 'She didnt took the chance that was before her to strengthen our city, but decided to wait'

You whisper 'For that i cursed her for being weak'

Jhaelryna says 'she cast you out?'

Zharaluzar nods slowly.

Jhaelryna narrows her eyes in thought.

You whisper 'I was left at the abbot in Arkham'

You whisper 'Half dead'

You whisper 'But i lived'

Jhaelryna says 'curious why she did not destroy you.. i imagine she had chance.'

You whisper 'she had the chance'

You whisper 'But my mind was strong'

You whisper 'Perhaps she would feel more pleasure if my mind was broken'

You whisper 'but i kept praying for my Lord and found strength in that'

You whisper 'Not many have lived cursing our mother'

Jhaelryna says 'Would it, perhaps, be enjoyable to return to the city and exact a certain.. vengeance.. though not necessarily of blood?'

You throw back your head and laugh into the night.

You rub your hands together in greedy anticipation.

You whisper 'Indeed'

You whisper 'In time i will show her my power and the power of my Lord'

Jhaelryna says 'Speak the name of your Lord.'

You whisper 'My Lord is the one of time, combat and death'

Jhaelryna nods thoughtfully and strokes her dark staff with her slender fingers.

You whisper 'Intronan is my Lord'

You whisper 'I study the aspect of time mostly'

You whisper 'And tends to avoid death'

You throw back your head and laugh into the night.

Jhaelryna says 'There are death-magi who study within the Fold... what say you if they should ascend and transform to immortality?'

You whisper 'As i said, my focus is upon the aspect of time'

You whisper 'I dont approve entirely with my Lord on his view of death'

Jhaelryna says 'Time can often be bended and warped to shape our purposes, Zharaluzar.'

You whisper 'Time cannot be controlled however'

Jhaelryna smiles.

Jhaelryna says 'I think a certain archmage would disagree'

Jhaelryna says 'but that is for another time... we continue.'

You whisper 'Very well'

Jhaelryna says 'What will you do, given the chance to show the matron your worth?'

You whisper 'Enslave her, break her will as she tried to break mine'

You whisper 'Take away those who belive in her strength'

You whisper 'And laugh when she calls for them and gets no answer'

You whisper 'That is perhaps the best revenge, to see her shake in fear when she realise she is all alone'

You throw back your head and laugh into the night.

Jhaelryna says 'Not wise to break such a figure, at least not till you have a replacement..'

Jhaelryna raises an eyebrow at you.

You shrug.

You whisper 'A replacement can allways be found'

Jhaelryna chuckles politely.

You whisper 'Perhaps i will take her place'

You grin evilly.

Jhaelryna says 'Perhaps, but sometimes, timing is key.'

Jhaelryna nods thoughtfully.

You whisper 'Timing is allways the key'

You whisper 'You can bring 100 men, but if you strike at the wrong time, you will fall '

You whisper 'Bring 1 man, and strike at the best time, and you will be succesfull'

Jhaelryna says 'Wise words, indeed.'

You whisper 'I try my best Chancellor'
Jhaelryna nods approvingly.

Jhaelryna looks at you.

Zharaluzar looks at you and you can feel her yellow eyes glowing.

Jhaelryna says 'Adept in your prayers.. but that is only one of the first steps.'

You whisper 'First of many'

Jhaelryna says 'For you, I will require some information that will assist us in certain.. endevours.'

Jhaelryna says 'for this, we can deal for your share of my secrets.'

Jhaelryna licks her mouth and smiles.

You whisper 'speak forth'

You ponder the question.

You whisper 'What information do you seek Chancellor?'

Jhaelryna says 'a moment.. warders'

Jhaelryna says 'I see information about a certain race, or perhaps group of people.'

You nod.

Jhaelryna says 'They are called the Saughaun.'

You see a tall dark-elven women with a height that nears six feet.

Large eyes, like twin liquid-black orbs, stare into the distance,
a calm, tired, almost lost, gaze. Immaculate white hair, untied
and free, falls down to her breasts in waves.

Her body is oddly flawless and perfect, as if personally molded and
lovingly crafted out of onyx by a god, and her garmets, seemingly
chosen for their revealing nature, only ascenuate her feminine wares.
Her beauty is so all-encompassing, that it almost makes your mind swim.
You feel as if you could just stare at her for an eternity.

You missed it before, but just as you reluctantly pull your gaze away,
you notice at the last moment two odd diagrams, each a mirror image of
each other, that flash metallicly, carefully etched onto her skin just
above both of her shapely pointed-ears. Unfortunately you can not see
what exactly they depict as her flowing hair hides them with relative
ease.

Jhaelryna, a female dark-elf, has some small but disgusting cuts.

Jhaelryna is using:
<worn on finger> a silver signet ring
<worn on finger> a ring of stamina
<worn around neck> (Glowing) a brooch set with blue stones
<worn around neck> (Glowing) an unholy symbol of the Spider Goddess

<worn on head> a delicate golden tiara
<worn on legs> a pair of elegant silk leggings
<worn on feet> boots of speed
<worn on arms> some black leather sleeves
<worn about body> ethereal robe of silver silk
<worn about waist> the girdle of endless space

charging after their prey with primal fury. Their eyes reveal a lust for
their task which overcomes all other instincts, leaving only the unbridled
thrill of the hunt. What is most striking is the coordination their movements
show- moreso than any wild pack you have seen, they move as one being, covering
each other's flanks with perfect timing and never needing to slow a step.

At the rear of the pack, what looks to be a cloud giant wearing a massive
horned helm hovers behind his host, somehow able to match their frantic pace.
Though he wields no whip or reins, his eyes belie his command as the wolves
follow his gaze without hesitation.

around her assortment of armor, ornamented in such a way as to remind you
of a well preened bird. Despite possible assumptions, those who would come
to know her would fine that not a single feather or talon was taken in force
or adorned without reverence.

Her hair flows freely and seems designed and meant to catch the wind,
however, this is a natural occurance...for the spirit before you seems much
to wild to worry about the fall of her hair when given to flight. Perhaps
like the exotic bird she reminds you of....she as well has found time to
preen herself? With a final cursory examination, you realize not just

of how insignificant you really are. The land seems somehow majestic and

Unfortunately you can not see
what exactly they depict as her flowing hair hides them with relative
ease.

Jhaelryna scans west.

Unfortunately you can not see
what exactly they depict as her flowing hair hides them with relative
ease.

Jhaelryna, a female dark-elf, has a few scratches.

Jhaelryna is using:
<worn on finger> a silver signet ring

You bow deeply.

You whisper 'Greetings Chancellor'

Jhaelryna turns from the steaming pile of entrails and stares at you silently.

You whisper 'You requested some information Chancellor'

You whisper 'Upon the sahuagin'

You whisper 'And what i found might interest you'

Jhaelryna plants her dark staff beside her and nods slightly.

You whisper 'It seems like they plan an attack upon something (go find out ic).

You whisper 'As well as the go figure.

You whisper 'I tried to speak with theire king, but his guards attacked me on sight'

You whisper 'A plan of their attack i found in the sertain room with the plans.'

You whisper 'Also i have found hunters and spies of the sahuagins under the sea near the ashes'

Zharaluzar looks at you, waiting.

Jhaelryna smiles coldly.
Jhaelryna says mildly 'Tell me why you were sent on this little... task.'

You whisper 'Was that what you explected to find chancellor?'

You ponder the question.

You whisper 'If they plan an attack'

You whisper 'We could take advantage of it'

You whisper 'Or we befriend the sahuagins, and use them to our advantage'

You whisper 'Feed them with informations'

Jhaelryna utters the words, 'gpuzre ay xuieg'.
Jhaelryna is surrounded by a shield of gusting winds.

Jhaelryna strides into the center of the vortex and stares at you through the maelstrom.

Jhaelryna says 'for what purpose, do you suppose?'

You whisper 'If we helped the sahuagins to build some forces with in the sea near the ashes'

You whisper 'They could perhaps overrun the grove'

Jhaelryna says 'and the ones near the cool place?'

You whisper 'They could slay the "dragons" (not really) i would imagine'

Jhaelryna smirks.

Jhaelryna says 'I have better plans for the cool dudes!'

You whisper 'Aye, i thought so'

You whisper 'I know nothing of your plan Chancellor'

Jhaelryna says 'Tell me why such conflict suits us?'

You whisper 'but my hearth was thrilled when i found the plans'

You get a gem of the sea from the girdle of endless space.

A wry little smile crosses Jhaelryna's face.

You give a gem of the sea to Jhaelryna.

You whisper 'A prince held this'

You shrug.

Jhaelryna nods.

*** Just proving to her that i had been there, and not rambling off something i found or read long ago ***

You whisper 'If the grove or the cool dudes battle else where, they are perhaps to busy to see what goes on in other places'

You whisper 'I know little, but i have found that your numbers isnt great'

Jhaelryna nods slightly.

You whisper 'And if the battle is to be won'

Jhaelryna says 'for a reason.'

You whisper 'Distraction could be a way to win it'

A wry little smile crosses Jhaelryna's face.

You whisper 'Its all about timing, numbers doesnt matter'

You whisper 'That i know'

You whisper 'My Lords preachings have tought me so'

Jhaelryna nods approvingly.

You whisper 'As i said last time we spoke'

You whisper 'You can bring 100 men, and still fail if the timing is wrong'

You whisper 'Bring two, and you will succed if the timing is right'

Jhaelryna looks at you.

Zharaluzar takes a step backwards lowering her head.

Jhaelryna smirks.

The rocks under your foot slip and you almost lose your footing.

Zharaluzar looks at the rocks below.

Jhaelryna says 'One must know their place... but what use is one in the pursuit of greater things if they have no spine.'

Jhaelryna strides from the maelstrom and pushes the tip of her staff against your chin, raising your head so your eyes meet hers.

You whisper 'I have spine chancellor'

You whisper 'I just know when to be humble and when to strike'

Jhaelryna nods slightly.

Jhaelryna whispers 'There is a time and a place for everything.'

Jhaelryna backs away slightly and plants her staff again before her.

Jhaelryna says 'What do you know of prophecy, Zharaluzar.. of omens.'

You whisper 'Not much chancellor, i take the things as they come'

Jhaelryna chuckles politely.

You whisper 'I try to plan, and react'

You whisper 'Based upon the facts that i know at the given time'

Jhaelryna says 'react? How can you accomplish your goals when you are always a step behind the rest?'

You whisper 'Behind? I tend to react based upon what i know now, those i have meet so far only seems to react based on what happends now'

You whisper 'There is a difference'

You whisper 'And i wont say that im a step behind, as far as accomplish my goals, i have forfilled them all so far'

You whisper 'My primary focus is based on time, that is where i draw my powers from'

You whisper 'Many people know nothing about time'

You whisper 'And how it can be used, i belive i do'

Jhaelryna smiles slightly, her eyes taking on a glint of... mirth?

You whisper 'Many people just see's the days passing by and never learn'

You shrug.

Zharaluzar takes forth a short staff, and leans towards it.

Jhaelryna says 'Indeed... so many think they have time for everything.. that what they seek will just... flop in their lap.'

Jhaelryna smirks.

You flash everyone a wry little smile.

You whisper 'Nothing comes easy'

Jhaelryna says 'Tell me what you offer me and my Fold in return for my guidance and training?'

You whisper 'I will bring the preachings of my Lord'

You whisper 'I brought you something'

You give a different staff of aura to Jhaelryna.

You whisper 'I stumbled across it one day'

Jhaelryna nods thoughtfully.

You whisper 'I travel alot, and likes to see new places'

You whisper 'I tend to keep me eyes open'

You whisper 'Like when i saw the plans of the sahuagin's'

Jhaelryna turns the different aura staff in her burning hands.

You whisper 'Im dedicated i would say'

Jhaelryna says 'Where did you find this... piece?'

*** Plan worked, got her.. intrigued? ***

You grin evilly.

You whisper 'I can show you, later'

You smirk.

Jhaelryna chuckles politely.

You whisper 'In return for your guidance'

Zharaluzar smirks at her own saying.

Jhaelryna smirks.

You whisper 'I may not be a one man army when it comes down to fighting Chancellor'

Jhaelryna says 'a good attempt at diversion... it will work wonders with the sheep we seek to march on our whispers.'

You whisper 'i tend to stand in the back, and watch the battles'

Jhaelryna nods.

You whisper 'There is my place'

You whisper 'Where i can control the battlefield, and react'

Zharaluzar looks at you as her yellow eyes glows a little brighter.

Jhaelryna says 'So.. you seek only to preach about your lord.. and study the nuances of time?'

You smirk.

You whisper 'That would be a part of it that i cannot hide, my lord expects progress as well'

Jhaelryna says 'What does he expect from you?'

You whisper 'That i keep exploring the impact of time and the use of it'

You whisper 'That i learn from my mistakes'

You whisper 'I belive that is what he expects from me even i cannot read his mind'

You flash everyone a wry little smile.

*** Only talked with Intronan twice or so around this time ***

Jhaelryna says mildly 'Then why come to me... such can be done alone, no?'

You whisper 'If i where let into the fold Chancellor, i would continue finding information that could be usefull to us'

You whisper 'It could perhaps, but i have my own desires as well Chancellor'

You whisper 'Ones that would hard for a healer to accomplish alone'

You whisper 'I see to raise in power as well Chancellor'

You whisper 'Many warriors, assassins, even mages think that a healer is nothing'

You whisper 'Nothing to be scared by'

The clouds disappear.

Zharaluzar raises her fist towards the clouds.

*** Bah, a second to late for that emote .. ***

You whisper 'Perhaps that is true, but i would think not'

You whisper 'I allready slew a paladin alone, with no help'

Jhaelryna smirks.

Jhaelryna says 'So.. it is fear of death you wish to fill their minds with.'

Jhaelryna says 'this also.. can be accomplished alone.'

You shake your head.

You whisper 'I belive bargins has been made with other planes, no?'

You whisper 'Fear of death? What is there to be afraid of?'

You shake your head in dismay.

You whisper 'Or was my information wrong?'

Jhaelryna says 'You do not know?'

You whisper 'I belive i do... '

Jhaelryna says 'What does our allies have to do with your death hunts?'

Jhaelryna says 'If i wanted a vicious dog, i'd go buy one'

You whisper 'It has nothing to do with my hunt'

Jhaelryna says 'of course.. they have even less intelligence then certain servants i won't bother to name.'

Jhaelryna snorts.

You grin evilly.

Jhaelryna motions for you to continue.

You whisper 'I slew the paladin because he thought he wasnt not be afraid of me'

You whisper 'Once he was dead, his morale suffered as well as his trust in his lord'

You whisper 'At least he shouted for his Lord when he slowly died'

You whisper 'Its not the death of the paladin it self, but breaking his spirit, and making him doubt his Lord'

You whisper 'It was what pleased me'

Jhaelryna nods.

You whisper 'The battle that you fights'

You whisper 'I belive is not to be won by brute force'

You whisper 'But taking advantage of situations, like if the sahuagins where striking the cool dudes'

Jhaelryna nods.

You whisper 'By using what ever mean is avaiable'

Jhaelryna says 'and this pleases you.. mmm.'

Jhaelryna says 'splendid... anything else?'

You nod at Jhaelryna.

You whisper 'Anything else? What would that be?'

Jhaelryna says 'You tell me...'

Zharaluzar looks at you.

Jhaelryna taps on her staff with a finger as if irritated.

Jhaelryna says 'Is this the extent of your desires, Zharaluzar?'

You whisper 'when you have forfilled your desires, dont you want more?'

You grin evilly.

Jhaelryna looks at you slyly.

Jhaelryna says 'continue...'

You whisper 'Can a you cure the hunger of a man or woman?'

You whisper 'Once you feed them, perhaps they will be satisfied for a few hours'

You whisper 'But the hunger allways returns, in one way or another'

Jhaelryna says 'always something better to strive for...'

Zharaluzar turns her head and looks towards the south, then looks back at you.

Jhaelryna moves up to you, her burning hand passing over your left cheek for a moment, and you feel a small burning sensation that fades quickly.

Zharaluzar takes a step backwards but keep looking into your eyes.

Jhaelryna whispers to you 'Always do what your dark soul lusts for, my dear... every passing moment is a chance.. never accept compromises.'

You grin evilly.

Jhaelryna moves with you, backwards, smiling coldly.

Jhaelryna whispers to you 'You never know when your time is.... up'

Jhaelryna lifts her hand and points at your forehead... a cloud of shadows envelop you, and for the briefest of moments you feel heat, hotter than the sun, yet colder than midwinter ice eat at your flesh and sting your mind.

You have been inducted into the Scions of Eternal Night.

You whisper 'It havent been so far, but i think i will know'

Jhaelryna chuckles politely.

You grin evilly at her.

Jhaelryna says 'I did not really refer to age.'

*** Over and out! Lasted for nearly 2 hours or so ***

I wish we'd had more chances to work together and interact too, but I share the demands of work and school, as well as the same employer. For me at least, my hours are semi-consistent, but very inflexible. At least while at my current duty station, I'm not deployable for the foreseeable future, thankfully.

I wish we could've figured out more with the Silent Tower. I felt like we were so close to the verge of some cool things, but had gotten stumped. I wish you'd shown me what it was that led you to the point you were stumped on, since I would've liked to try figuring it out myself. Oh well, maybe in the future. I certainly agree about not wanting to spread around the solutions to the puzzles. It was quite nice having a lot of that cool stuff available, but only a few of us knowing how to get it. Too bad we didn't have chances to use it more!

Overall I felt we got along surprisingly well, for a pair of self-centered evil types. I had pieced together a fair bit about your markings, and their relation to dragons, though I didn't know all the details of it obviously. I bet I was more aware of it than anyone else this side of Immortal-land though. And yes, it always irritated me that you were so against killing dragons... I sometimes almost wanted to scream "But think of all the cool gear we could get!" at the same time I admired that you would stick to such a conviction that was detrimental in so many ways. I certainly enjoyed being able to go kill Dragons as a perk of my last invoker, even if only a minor one.

Anyway, we certainly seemed to agree a lot on inductions, and I mostly left them to you except for one or two people, and a few more that I interviewed and you then inducted. I was actually tasked to watch over you and the other Scions as sort of an internal police type deal, more than I was to induct or act as leader type, but you seemed to do such a good job of not only weeding out crappy applicants, but on cracking down on existing members who did dumb things, that I never felt there was anything to do with that. I agreed with all the policies, but you know that already from our IC talks.

Hvetlin - Was impressed by that interview. I do wonder who your chancellor char. was...

I enjoyed our interactions and really wished you were around more often when I was, but sadly our times didn't match. And I really have to say, either I am very transparent or you've read a lot of mystery novels, because you're right in that both one of your characters and one of mine were named Chancellors at the same time. Good luck in your endeavors.

I actually figured you were Halisstra when you and I were gabbin it up in Kteng's. I don't remember what you did but at one point in our conversation I thought to myself, "Oh this reminds me of that drow invoker who hated my guts when I was Phaistus".

Anyhow..

You will be back, you know you will

Though we didn't interact all that much, I felt like we had a mutual
respect for the simultaneous fun and misery that is the silent tower. Sorry I lost you that time on the way to Nethlaaric, jus another trick of the tower. Every time you think you have something figured out. poof! I enjoyed our conversations and always liked seeing a corpse besides mine there. I found our conversations very interesting as we would talk around the various things we had discovered, IC trying to keep our cards close to our chest but OOC I really wanted to share info so that I could try to get farther. Well done.

Heh, a pity you are gone. I know I didn't play much recently, I got so much of RL on me in the last weeks and I know it shows in the game when I get some time to log in. For these reasons I didn't talk with you when I saw you online, I just couldn't decide how it would look like to start our conversations again that seemed to have ceased a month or more ago. I enjoyed talking with you a lot. Perhaps it is the first time I enjoyed RP in CF at all. Very well played.

Well we interacted less in the end, perhaps you'll understand why someday...Anyway those time we were together was deadly...because invokers are when they are well played. Scions will feel that one I'm sure!

Good luck with whatever is next.

I'm in Aginal's camp as far as explorations. In my mind, as a player, a member of a cabal first, and an explorer second, and their actions should reflect that. As Aenail, I was uncabaled and had no wars to fight, which was because I wanted to explore everywhere without having obligations.

As Alarn, I was a cabal member, and I wanted to participate in the cabal, not explore. Aenail had dabbled in Silent and it had some allure for me, but I place defending the cabal above exploring, so I wasn't about to go to silent.

As soon as I was out of the cabal, I started going. I had known how to go all along, but I didn't want it to interfere. Once I was out of the cabal, I was cut loose and spent hours at a time in Silent.

My reason for leaving wasn't really that one incident, it was the fact that you were ALWAYS IN SILENT. And could not defend. When you tried to explain to me IC that you couldn't hear in there, I felt that you just didn't get my point of view, which was of course that I knew you couldn't hear in the tower and therefore should have stayed the hell out .

It came down to frustration with a leader who seemed to have more important thins to do than run a cabal. Not that I blamed you, the tower is awesome.

That aside, I have no complaints. I love the cold drow RP; Urden was one of my favorite characters to be with ever. It helps if you throw in a little bit of niceness once and a while, to bind people to you. When I figured out that little quest in Thar Acacia, I really wished that you had given Alarn a little praise. It may have been enough to keep me in the cabal.

In case this gave you mixed impressions: I liked you, but not as chancellor, due to your love for Silent.

Oh, and I spent some decent time with you as Xandera as one of my many felar warrior scions.

I'll sort of try and address this here rather than bringing my thread back up, since it covers both of us.

>My reason for leaving wasn't really that one incident, it was
>the fact that you were ALWAYS IN SILENT. And could not defend.
>When you tried to explain to me IC that you couldn't hear in
>there, I felt that you just didn't get my point of view, which
>was of course that I knew you couldn't hear in the tower and
>therefore should have stayed the hell out .

While I sympathize with you being stuck defending alone when one (or both) of us was in the Silent Tower, staying out of the Tower was not an alternative, or even an option. I for one think it's ludicrous to even try to ask that of someone in a cabal, particularly in a cabal that values magical knowledge and power to the extent that Scion does. I don't think it would be revealing too much for me to state that one of the Scion quests I was involved in _Required_ me to go into the Silent Tower.

Furthermore, having been through the purge of the old scions, and talking to Valguarnera when trying to get reinducted afterwards, I was strongly impressed with a feeling that the primary purpose of Scion has absolutely nothing to do with killing lots of Maran/Battle/etc or downing their items, but that it instead lies in deeper more mysterious things (which I took/take to mean the Scion quests, as well as the search for mystical secrets and such from places like the Silent Tower). What had doomed the 'old' Scion is that they got so caught up in the raiding and killing that they lost all sense of the more important stuff. That's just how I understood it though, and I'm sure Valguarnera or others more knowledgeable than I can correct me if I'm way off the mark.

In all honesty, if I had waited until only times when Scion was strong and in power, and all our enemies were dealt with, I would *never* have been able to go take care of those quests, let alone do a number of other things that I felt had equal or greater importance to the cabal wars. This isn't to say I avoided raids, or recovering, or any of that, I just felt it was important to put them in perspective of other priorities as well.

--Well, I don't know what happened within the cabal after my time, but
if it was the same sort of thing as when I was there, then my only
defense for me killing/raiding a lot more was this: 90% of the time
I was on, my range was atrocious (same with you guys, right?), so
when I actually got the aid from others to raid, I did. I guess you
could call it Urden's sense of revenge. I also think that this was
the period when S.T. was closed, as well as hell. This is not to say
that the cabal had no quests going or anything, but I think it was
probably a bit off-track for a while there. I like what I'm hearing
about the new cabal system via this thread, however. The only
problem I see with it is the obvious: how can you compete with raids
and even getting your own item back when the cabal is so low in
sheer numbers? Maybe you guys will figure that out.

--Amen to that. There is no shame in doing what the character wants/
needs to do to keep you interested. If the player aint happy, the
character aint lasting.

>>Merzofzyauhn - You began so well, and then suddenly your personality changed 180 degrees. Why?? Well, at least it was a fun week!

Well what can I say.. I was more Arvam follower than Scion. Didn't like being tied down and all that. In retrospect, I should have waited until later in his life to join Scion's, but I'd never had a scion (hero), and wanted to check it out.

In my mudding time here, I've had the chance to RP with some of CF's best. You rank up there with them. Well done, and I'd love to read your role... very unique.

I wasn't particularlly surprised I did not get chancellorship, although I didn't really see anyone else up for it either, maybe because I didn't really know you much at the time. So I can't say much from the viewpoint of Aginal. From the thief I had next...well, all I can say is maybe a bit more time for interviews would have been nice. I can go with making a cabal elite, really hard to get into. Neither of the two leaders having time to talk to an applicant over two or three weeks and about 50 tells...well, just had to say screw that. From the other two character's perspectives since then...well, you were what an evil leader should be like I suppose, as far as you can really stereotype it. Cold, aloof, calculating. Good traits. Playing times dropped, well, it can happen to anyone. Although I have to say the scepter should have taken priority over your explorations. You see enemies in your PK, you know they'll raid sooner or later, and being somewhere you're basicly deaf isn't where I think you should be. Just my view point. Hope your time is less demanding eventually, can come back and escape terrible reality some more.

P.S. I don't need to be a leader to happily skip about eradicating everyone.

P.P.S. I don't skip.

I don't think "don't explore" is the answer there, especially given that the heroish PK range was "not very evil dominated", to put it mildly, during much of Jhaelryna's time. A heads up to other cabal members would have probably been useful, however, so they can plan around the leader not being able to hear.

To Jhaelryna's credit, I never saw her (or Darian) go there instead of getting the Scepter back when it was remotely feasible to do so, or going there right after a raid or retrieval. It's hard to say "don't go to exploration areas if someone might raid 30 minutes later".

Disclaimer: Granted, I've been told that in the later days Jhaelryna didn't log on a whole lot, but then, I haven't been logging on a whole lot (probably for similar reasons) so I'm inclined to evaluate the character based on what I did see than that. (This is more to stave off "How could you like this character who only played X hours a week" type comments than anything else.)

Jhaelryna was by far one of my favorite characters this year. Fun to watch fight, fun to watch explore, fun to watch RP. She had all kinds of presence and style. One of the few cabal leaders I can remember with the fortitude to keep their cabal small even while constantly dealing with raids consisting of more attackers than their entire cabal had people period, and one of the best cabal leaders I can remember in terms of giving interesting interviews. I can't even imagine what the game could be like if every cabal could have a leader like that at the same time.

Well played. If I could think of something else good to say, I probably would.
