#17235, "(AGE) Ylare Tovani the Grand Master of Changelings"

Well, it was a fun ride.. I started this char mostly to explore, because although I've been playing CF
on and off for a quite a while, I did not hero many characters and never really took the time to explore
the dangerous/remote areas before. I did explore quite a bit and discovered many things with Ylare,
and made many friends who showed me a great deal.

I had no written role, mostly because I did not feel a need for it with this character, but also because
I'm a bit lazy and not really good in english =) Anyway, I did have a role, which was not really original
but fitted my character well. Ylare was sphere Revelation/Divination, Neutral Good in alignment. He wished
to reach enlightenment through experience, and to him that meant to discover the most he could about the
magical arts, to learn about the various areas, their culture and their people, and to make as many friends
as he could. Also, Ylare was free-spirited in nature and did not want to join any particular cabal, because
he prefered to associate with different people fighting for different causes, and to learn from those
experiences. Ylare did enjoy being involved in cabal politics and in the various ongoing "quests" that were
run by the immortals, but more from a "behind the scenes" perspective. He was not manipulative one bit, but
rather he would acquire much knowledge about who was in which cabal, who was against who, what were the
ongoing quests and who was involved, etc. And people consulted him sometimes for his knowledge, which made
him proud. Another important facet of the character was his great desire to help others. Ylare felt good
doing so, and was never expecting anything in return.

Offense/Defense shifters are great for exploring, I would recommend this combo to anyone who wish to
play a char with this purpose in mind. Of course knowing where to find wands and such help greatly.
I liked every form I got: ferret, rhino, lynx, sand lizard, lion, crocodile. I don't know if I was
lucky or what, but the crocodile is a damn good form IMHO. Sand Lizard is very useful as well.
Lion is quite mean, and when prepared, VERY mean. Only problem is that you can't keep your foes in the
fight, of course..

Anyway, my farewells..

Immortals
---------
Great job with CF, this is by far the best game I have ever played in my life. All the tweaking aimed at
good game balance, all the updates, the new stuff, the quests, excellent work! And thanks to the Immortal
who let me have my last name, really appreciated.

Warlocks
--------
Ylare didn't like the war with the Sylvans, but he understood why there was such a war and he was glad to
see that the sylvans only rarely took the grimoire and vice-versa. He knew and befriended most of the high
ranked warlocks of his time, and travelled quite alot with them. You guys were invaluable partners to him.

Jarold and Akriam, I really like travelling with you two and when you got your bad titles for not being able
to defend once (and/or perhaps for being too lucid about it), I felt bad because I think you were both fine
warlocks and did not deserve such treatment considering the circomstances. Heck, so many times I've raided
the Scions and not one of them showed up (or were in position to do so), yet when the new A-P skills were put
in there were gechos with the Dark Man saying how cowardly the Light was (and the gechoes mentioned you two),
so I was pretty pissed off. But then I realized that perhaps I did not know everything that was going on and
that surely, the Immortals had their reasons. Ah well, bad luck, I guess.

Jhard, Kalindar, Galial, Chasillia, Viynellia, Gherian, you guys rock and I enjoyed travelling/fighting with
you.

Fortress
--------
Fahnrore, I liked you, keep up the good work. Elrys, you're a blast to interact with and Ylare respected you
greatly. Jhanderin, nice work and thanks for saving my ass a few times =) Vahlron, Lruthlor, Karun, Siorgriend,
you're all fine and noble paladins. Sandoria and Briessa, great scouts and great friends. Vashka, you were a
tad too impatient for Ylare's tastes, but you were a close friend and I always liked hanging out with you.
Erenthell (sp?), we only met briefly but I have to say, nice job! Corealis, gratz for your recent induction,
you were a good friend of Ylare. Dylerion, bad-ass legacies/spec combo =) Oh and Liu, farewell to you my friend.

Warders
-------
I did not interact with you much but Cardiel, Starkad and Dacheal come to mind, my farewells to you all.

Tribunal
--------
I only knew Jamain and Orein, you two showed great dedication and Ylare liked you both.

Battleragers
------------
Wiglaf, you got balls and you always seem to stick around despite the odds against you, well done.
Sabiene, gratz on Imm'ing, Ylare liked you and respected your views even if he did not agree with them.
Aidamo, Alarin, Brogg, Alan and all the others, thanks for the few fun fights we had. You're all fine
ragers. Jeghaciel, only fought you once, you're mean. God, I hate scouts.

Heralds
-------
Airael, it was nice to interact with you. Darch, you're a nice fellow, my farewells to you.

Scions
------
Jhaelryna (sp?), Zharaluzar, Darian, Ghuljun, Jolaerg, Asin, and the others, you guys had the odds stacked
against you most of the time, and I (the player) felt somewhat bad raiding you all the time. But thanks for
the fun fights, and keep up the good work. I should have interacted with you more than just by
fighting you, so that I could learn more about your respective roles.. Too late for that now I guess.

Imperials and co.
-----------------
Sakard, I think I only gangbanged you, felt bad about it but I *would* have fought you alone
if I ever had the chance. Anyway, good luck with the Empire.
And to the duergar warrior who once disemboweled me (sorry man I forget your name, G-something),
you cannot believe how much I was pissed after that death!
Zekasiq, I think I fought you a couple times, but the main reason I will remember you is because
you seemed to be quite the charmer type with the ladies =)

Nexus
-----
I didn't really interact much with you guys..

Others
------
Eluna, you were a really close friend of Ylare, I'll miss you greatly!
Selatiel, I'll miss you too, you were nice and funny.
Uurmok, Karkalla, Aikaya, Queesha, Rahalans, Nycoe, Cassougi, Dranthaax, Mauhd, you were all my friends and
I wish you best of luck with your respective characters (those of you still alive, of course).

I'm sure I forget some people, sorry...

See you in the fields!

I always felt safe when I was traveling with you or simply grouped with. Both of us being independant made things great, specially with Selatiel. It was like we were our own little cabal. You already know how I felt about your character as I was there at your death. Good luck with the next one and all that stuff.

I could tell by the fact that how often you were around when I would log on and still be around when I would log off, that this was not too far into the future. I have to say though that I wasn't looking forward to it.
I must say that I used to think that the most powerful shapeshifter combo was tiger/mongoose. I have to admit that you make me question that belief.
I have to say that you aided the Warlocks as if you were one, Akriam was always thankful for what you did(especially the time I was struggling with raiding to get back the grimoire and you agreed to come along and we got the grimoire back and wasted the opposition. Thanks again!) I learned alot from you as a player, and for that I thank you. It is a shame to see you go, you were one whose disappearance will leave but a deafening silence that nothing can fill.
Hopefully see you in the fields again, Good hunting.

Man, we had some fun times together and were one of Vashka's best friends. You will be sorely missed. I remember when we first met and we were ranking in Aridhol with you Sand Lizard. From then on we were together a lot of the time. Fighting evil or exploring. You will be sorely missed. Come back as a Maran this time ;P.

Always a staunch defender of the fortress even though you werent one of us. I knew that whenever a situation got rough we could count on you to help us out. It is always nice to see an uncaballed char have ideals and not always be about gathering the almighty set of eq.

all my chars are uncaballed and I always get involved in cabal politics. What would cf be without it? get a great set, then sit on your ass and do nothing with it? bah...much more fun to head into a raid or big fight on eastern.

Then after you'll pay you SOB! I'm glad you are gone...gotta hate those healers bird paladin combo! Now come to the Empire! You'll see how it is to be the underdog! (I do think we are...no?)

So the scene: A group had gone to Kuo lair for the shambling poncho, then decided to push on to kill the King. I got locked in the room with the sword, Charlenne died to guards, Ylare drowned. The curtain raises as I make my second run to Eryn Galen after getting Ylare's things.

Altar to the Valar

A pit for sacrifices is in front of the altar.
Ylare is here.
(Purple Aura) A servant celebrates here, singing lustily but drunkenly.
A servant celebrates here, dancing exuberantly.
(White Aura) A regal-looking priestess tends the altar and offers healing here.
Ylare's hunger injures him.

You pant exhaustedly.

Ylare bows deeply.

You close your eyes and hum for an instant.
Some unleavened bread appears before you.

Ylare nods.

Ylare gets some unleavened bread.

Some unleavened bread appears before you.

Ylare eats some unleavened bread.

Ylare gets some unleavened bread.

Ylare says 'thank ye'

You give an ice-rimmed shield to Ylare.

Ylare shakes his head.

You give an engraved silver circlet to Ylare.

Ylare says 'not mine'

You give a pair of delicate silver gloves to Ylare.

Ylare wears a pair of delicate silver gloves on his hands.

Ylare gives you an ice-rimmed shield.

You get a large wooden barrel from a large saddle bag.

You get a cowhide knapsack from a large saddle bag.

You get a pair of armguards from the snow worm from a large saddle bag.

You give a pair of armguards from the snow worm to Ylare.

You give a cowhide knapsack to Ylare.

Ylare wears a pair of armguards from the snow worm on his arms.

Ylare sits down and thinks deeply.

You have 9 gold, 787 silver, and 8688 copper, which is worth 33428 copper.
You have 705300 experience and need 31500 more experience to gain a rank.

Ylare says 'got a bracelet of woven gold?'

You give Ylare 4 gold.

You tell your group 'karun yer hae a bracelet o' woven goud still?'

You give Ylare 5 gold.

Ylare smiles happily.

Ylare thanks you heartily.

You lay your hands upon Ylare's head, healing him.
You failed to cleanse Ylare.

You close your eyes for a moment and nod at Ylare.
Ok.

You close your eyes for a moment and nod at Ylare.
Ok.

Lruthlor's group:
<51 War> Fahnrore 100% hp 75% mana 97% mv 586900 xp

<51 Pal> Lruthlor 100% hp 49% mana 43% mv 705300 xp

You close your eyes for a moment and nod at Ylare.
Ok.

You close your eyes for a moment and nod at Ylare.
You stretch out your hand and place it upon Ylare's head.
You grant Ylare the favor of your god.

Ylare says 'glad you all made it out'

You tell Karun 'yer hae a bracelet o' woven goud still?'

Ylare says 'scary down there'

Ylare shivers uncomfortably.

You say with a heavy brogue 'it pains meh dat yer fell'

Karun tells you 'youd id not give it to me'

Ylare says 'ah, do not worry my friend'

Ylare says 'things happen'

Ylare nods sagely.

You say with a heavy brogue 'tha bracelet A did no' get'

Ylare sits down and thinks deeply.

Ylare says 'Karun hopefully'

You say with a heavy brogue 'an' karun neither'

You ponder the question.

Ylare says 'eh?'

You say with a heavy brogue 'let meh check ma memories'

Ylare says 'aye'

Eluna tells you 'I'm getting lonely here in Hamsah'

You tell Eluna 'sorry lass helpin Ylare'

You feel up to laying on of hands again.

You see a suave half-elf of medium stature, wearing extravagant
velvet clothes and a long, dark green cloak. Long pointed ears
can be seen peering through his shoulder-length blond hair,
revealing his elven origins. He has a pale and beardless face,
with smooth features, and a thin mouth. His most notable trait
however would be his strange yellow eyes, which are set well
apart and shaped like huge almonds. You notice on his neck a
small tattoo depicting a silvery, serpent-like beast rising
over a golden sun.
Ylare, a male half-elf, has a few scratches.

Ylare raises an eyebrow.

Ylare shakes his head.

You say with a heavy brogue 'tak' this'

Ylare gives you a thin silver bracelet.

Ylare says 'please no'

Ylare says 'I thank you much my friend, but it would be much more useful on you'

Lruthlor looks troubled.

Ylare says 'since it is useless to me when shifted.'

You nod.

You say with a heavy brogue 'A shall get yer a replacment'

Ylare says 'I would not have accepted it anyway, no matter what.'

Ylare says 'you are most generous'

You say with a heavy brogue 'nae ma fere yer ur tha generous yin'

Ylare says 'ah, no need my friend, I can get another woven gold with an invoker, it's not that hard to fetch'

Ylare says 'these are just things after all'

Ylare says 'friends, on the other hand, are priceless'

Ylare says 'so are the experiences we have in life.'

You say with a heavy brogue 'aye dat is wit troubles meh dat ma friends died fer this'

You point at a holy sword named 'Defiance'.

Ylare says 'ahh!'

Ylare says 'at least the sword is in good hands now'

Ylare smiles happily.

Ylare looks at you.

Ylare says 'may I see it a moment?'

Ylare says 'I am fascinated by items of power'

You say with a heavy brogue 'it shall daad in tha name o' friends an' tha licht'

Ylare blushes.

You stop using a holy sword named 'Defiance'.

You give a holy sword named 'Defiance' to Ylare.
A holy sword named 'Defiance' doesn't like Ylare and returns to you.

Ylare says 'oh'

Ylare says 'most interesting'

Ylare says 'it doesn't like me it seems'

You say with a heavy brogue 'it wull nae let it'self be handled by ae other than tha yin wha picks it up'

You wield a holy sword named 'Defiance'.
A holy sword named 'Defiance' feels like a part of you!

Ylare says 'I wonder what kind of magic this is..'

Ylare says 'most fascinating'

You say with a heavy brogue 'tis nae enchantment'

Ylare says 'no?'

Ylare sits down and thinks deeply.

Ylare says 'the sword have a mind of its own?'

Ylare says 'er, has'

You say with a heavy brogue 'tis tha power o' dedication an' ritcheous divinity'

Ylare says 'ahh'

Ylare nods sagely.

You say with a heavy brogue 'in it is tha spirit o' tha brave knight wha wielded it in times lang gang'

You say with a heavy brogue 'she wis tha most noble o' paladins'

Ylare says 'I see.. who was that noble knight? is his name known?'

Ylare says 'oh, her'

You say with a heavy brogue 'her name is tint in history'

Ylare smiles happily.

You say with a heavy brogue 'yet her deeds wull ring forever through time'

Ylare says 'as most ancient things, I guess'

Ylare nods.

You say with a heavy brogue 'legend says she fell tae a darkling horde'

You say with a heavy brogue 'an' sae goodly wis her soul dat her spirit rose up an' took tha sword in it's haun'

Ylare says 'hopefully, the sword was spared'

Ylare says 'so that the noble spirit may rise once again to help defend the pure'

You say with a heavy brogue 'tha sword wis aw dat wis found in tha midst o' tha carnage'

Ylare says 'wear your other bracelet my friend'

Ylare smiles happily.

You wear a thin silver bracelet around your right wrist.

Ylare says 'I fear I must go to rest for now.. I tire.'

Ylare says 'When I return, perhaps we can continue our expeditions'

Ylare bows before you.

You say with a heavy brogue 'aye'

Ylare says 'Be well my friend'

You say with a heavy brogue 'wid be a honor tae travel at yer side'

You say with a heavy brogue 'faith an' steel ma fere'

Ylare says 'Likewise'

Ylare smiles happily.

You reach over and clasp his hand.

Lruthlor sweeps a holy sword named 'Defiance' up to his forehead in a knight's salute.

Ylare tells the group 'Farewell for now'

Hmmm, i can think of one time where i didnt come and would know we was raided, but apart from that, i think i have been back defending every time... The other times i was in a place where i wouldnt know if a raid was coming or so...

As for the gecho's... It mentioned two drows - me and the chancellor, and we raided the tower without anyone coming back to defend... I wasnt sertain if they was warlocks or anything, but the imms usually dont gives titles like that for a single occasion, perhaps there was more to it... ?! Besides, it didnt took long before 4 or more stood at our entrance getting the sceptre...

Your right about the odds, 95% of the time i log on, we dont have the sceptre and im the only evil around... You would be welcome to interact with me...

Apart from that, I think that you was about the only one i would "fear", even though i would not use the word fear to describe it ic.. You where a tough fight, and a healer vs a prepped lion is no match.

But well done, and try joining team evil the next time, a well played shifter and healer can be VERY nasty..

He was a lightwalker... alignment/ethos = Good/Neutral. He just stayed out of the cabals and was kind of free spirited as he said. An independent good guy.

Actually, I thought about that (the staff thing) afterwards and I realized that perhaps you had the wrong staff.. There are two staves that look similar I think, and only one of them can be used to summon an elemental (to my knowledge, anyway). Sorry for not coming back to you about this, I hope you find out your answers IC.

Farewells Trinthos!

Hah! Yes, I was quite the charmer with the ladies... We fought a few times, mainly I avoided you if I saw you coming... sour memories of our fights! Well done. Good to see you enjoyed your character and you enjoy CF as a whole. I have the same feeling. See you on the battlefield again sometime.

Zekasiq

BTW: Gramukzul, maybe, is that duergar warrior that disemboweled you. Ring a bell?

We did quite a lot of ranking up together as I recall. Sylvrin really liked Ylare and had similar views as his for a while till she became convinced that the Light was where she needed to focus. I remember when we were both around the mid 30's we were chatting about the importance of knowledge. It was great talking with you in the Inn sometimes, and later having you help me find gear and stuff. Ylare was a really enjoyable fellow to be around and will be greatly missed by Sylvrin.
