Apparently don't rank with friends like..at all.
You are a perma in 5 hours after grouping one evening and getting in some good water ranking to be able to give feedback when it's requested.
Still pretty good times for a Saturday night on the old stomping grounds.

because I am so triggered, IMMs in the past do not have a problem with people ranking together that know each other. In the past I ranked with roomates and the general rule of thumb is don't pk together, don't only explore with each other, don't give gear to each other if you have the same IP. This was all IMM confirmed and 'okay' to encourage people to play the game.
Why the hell can't I rank with a friend on a Saturday night all of a sudden? Is this a new IMM policy?

In the 90s (Second age maybe), my friend and I were both fortunate enough to have 2 phone lines in our respective houses and would talk on the phone while playing on the modem.
One day an IMM tells me: "You know, you two should really talk to each other in game every now and then."
Me: Ok
This century, I don't know any of the players.
That had nothing to do with your situation, but IMHO, you should definitely be able to play with friends. In the rest of the world, that's a main source of new blood.

You're not allowed to group with people you know OOC.

Wasn't he helping a newbie friend in the academy or something and got smacked down which lit his fuse?
If Matrik happens to see this: FYI - Canoe whack is a power the immortals have.

Generally speaking, most everybody who plays CF has friends who play CF. This is not a problem. Talking to people about CF, sharing a CF experience with other players is a positive.
The problem in your situation and with several others is this. When you roll characters with the specific intention to only level with each other. You roll a character to complement your friend (shaman + thief w/cheapshot) etc. and you constantly abuse this to gain unfair advantages.
There are specific examples where playing with friends becomes permaing as well, such as trying to stack an imperial council so that player X can become Emperor.
Playing with friends is a part of CF, but abusing that to gain unfair advantages or with intent to solely group etc with specific people is not. It's unfair to other players in all the situations mentioned and that's why you were spoken to.

Consider being a little less heavy handed then. People are going to group together. We had one ranking session together. I had no ambitions with this character other than to see how fast I could hero in under water areas to answer Thaeden's post. I was killing time on a Saturday. That is a far cry from stacking the Imperial Council.
I did quests for 2 hours and then ranked for 3 hours with 3 other people.
This is why people complain and get pissy about you guys.

Plus having ooc buddies to group with as an evil reduces risk to you.
Not to mention that it allows people to skip past the risky ranks, if any, super fast.
Plus it effectively allows form picking.
Why not just grab two people you don't know and do it if your only objective is to see how fast you can do it?
