And one of the few reasons I spent so much time logged on. I liked travelling with Gdot. We got along great, were the perfect pair, and had the same attitude about a lot of things.
What I found most hilarious about our situations was this. In offense, we'd be able to take the Key and kill a few ragers. But in a non-retrieval event, the one rager would pretty much own us. Funny as that seems.
Once again, amazing character. I'll see you in the fields.
P.S. If the Immortals don't care, I'll reveal who I voted for.

To set the record straight, the imms had zero involvement in the last vote beyond the fact that Zulg's autovote code is kinda dodgy at times.
< 16> Tue Dec 6 10:21:28 2011 From : The Guardian of Balance To : Twist Daevryn Rayihn Subject: The Vote for Meter is complete!
The vote for the Meter of Mind is complete. Solec became the Meter with a total of 10 votes.
Per the code, Gdot got 3 votes. This may be because of a bug, it may be because of player choice. I will ask Zulg to look at it.

How dare people have different opinions than others, especially when they don't have access to all of the information other people have. How dare they make a conclusion that isn't meshed with the view of someone 'behind the curtain' - And how dare they speak of it!

Basically, what she is saying is this:
Rumors blow, but what really blows is when a rumor is taken from Dio's and brought into IC interactions and IC RP.
Raybaer thinks that people who deliberately take OOC rumored information and bring it IC should be denied, and while I think that's a stretch, I don't entirely disagree with her.
OOC should be kept completely out of IC interactions if at all humanly possible. I actually think you (Batman) actually agree with her on this, you guys are just arguing on different wavelengths and got confused (I hope).

If you want to go back and look at the time at which we spoke you will realize it was long before anything about Gdot deleting had been posted. By the time Gdots deletion posts started popping up I was already long gone from home for the weekend.
Just thought that this should be cleared up before it spins out of control, unless it wasn't my tell you were referring to, if that's the case I apologize.

I concede that I could have an affect on one's reputation.
Still, that's one trolly post on Dio's versus dozens of happy followers posting honestly about how much they liked her religions, so I don't really feel bad about it.
Unless you're trying to say my troll has more effect on her reputation than genuine goodbye threads, in which case, I don't really think that's my fault so much as an error in the way we as a community weighs feedback. Splntrd

I think you're right in that tells should be used sparingly, but they're not always inappropriate.
For example, I ran to the southern continent to save some nexuns, saw Twist on "where" with the trapped nexuns and sent him a tell to see if I was still needed.
I've also had an Imm interview me for a cabal via tells before. So my take has always been they're for use "as needed". Splntrd

Thanks for having Zulg look into it, but it's not a big deal. Just a game we all enjoy playing
To set the record straight, I personally accused no one of anything. I did feel like the vote system didn't work and it saddened me a bit, but I'm obviously unaware of any bugs or foul play.
Someone drawing conclusions and/or making assumptions is just that.
I may be missing my guess and you don't really care, but want to say that there is no need to get bent out of shape... for anyone really... it's a game guys. A game we play with a bunch of anonymous people. Of course, maybe I'm wrong and everyone is buddy buddy OOC and I'm one of the few loners.

Just cause you can't vote for certain people and that seemed odd. I thought it was supposed to be you can vote for anyone no matter what, but literally every vote I encountered after my reinduction I had the inability to vote for anyone except Allysia and Schorie. All I could think of was dates somehow played into who you can vote for, but for the life of me I can't figure out why that would be the case.
I actually tried every name each vote when I got reinducted with the same result, and that did seem odd to me, but I never got an answer to my prays about it. I couldn't vote for people who actually had chances to win, so to me I may have well just not had a vote at all.
Is that by design? Is it to encourage older characters to seek leadership? To me it seems counterintuitive. Old chars are around and should have a grasp of who should be leading, but they can only vote for old people instead of helping vote for younger ones who are the best suited.
Much as I enjoyed Nexus, the vote was always a bit frustrating because of this. I imagined it was simple: everyone has one vote for anyone they want for Meter and Rhyme, majority wins, but it never played out that way.
Not arguing results or counts or anything or that anyone was put in that should no have been, but I know some people encountered this same problem since they asked me about it and it sort of stagnated them from voting for newer people as it did me.

At some point, for an admin that has invested as much time and energy as Baer has, I think it becomes more than a "game." It's more like volunteering to run your community's soccer club. It's a game for all the kids and most of the parents (the non-psycho ones), but for the admin, it's pretty close to a job. And if some of the parents start spreading lies about you, the admin, favoring one team over another, that is not going to go over well with you, given all you've invested. And it is not going to go over well in your community if people start believing it.
Ideally the person spreading the lie/troll would have stepped up and admitted it was "just a troll" when it became clear other people were all too eager to believe it. But that didn't happen so Baer had to say something.
And I think it is offensive that she was forced to do that, and that some people think it was OK or funny to force her to do that.

...would you have been pissed if during Gdot's life some random svirf warrior was like 'Hey Matty, I heard you like poo-flingers, I'm related to a guy named Bobvers'?
I'd like to think after you got done laughing, you'd probably put that person on ignore. But for Baer, it's more than that.
As much as I occassionally disagree with Raybaer, I gotta say, she's had more venomous rumors spread about her than anyone I've ever seen on the two MUDS I've played. I could imagine some of them after she first IMM'd and was confirmed as Nep's wife (because that's just life) but FFS people, hasn't she proved her worth yet? Does she really deserve all the ####ty and stupid rumors still? When will we ####ing grow up as a playerbase?

One person asked if she had something against me on Dios. I responded with a non-qualifier (best word I could think of) and only mentioned that I'd be curious to see a recount. Perhaps I should have been more to-the-point in saying that I am unaware of any reason for any immortal to dislike me.
I don't understand how this translates to vicious rumors. It's one guy, who by the way is ALWAYS looking to instigate.
If anything more was said/done on the subject then it was via private comments that the public (of which I'm a part) isn't aware of. Therefore, I can only assume I "missed something."
I've never, nor will I ever, say anything negative about any immortal in anything other than jest. Even then it would likely be in a private conversation between me and the immortal I'm teasing. There was one time that a post of mine could have been construed as offensive (towards her actually), and that was resolved by a private communication that it wasn't pointed towards her once I realized it could be read that way.
Furthermore, though I was trying to avoid saying this, I don't see how it becomes necessary for everyone to discuss this on my death thread. I appreciate, and said as much, that Rayihn put up numbers of the vote and asked Zulgh to look into the code. It should have been the end of it there.
In any case, maybe the ADULTS that play this game should stop reading into crap that is posted on the forums and just concentrate on having fun in-game.
Finally, if someone DOES mention something in game based on information they read/misread on DIOS or here, I fully support whatever punishment they incur. However, the immortal better be damned sure that is what is happening and isn't misreading the communications their self.

As a comment that's much broader than this specific topic:
There are basically two kinds of imms: ones that care enough that people running their mouths on the forums doesn't just roll off their back, and ones that don't give a ####.
You have a hell of a time getting someone in category #2 to, say, empower you or write you a con quest or come up with a custom title for you or whatever. This is because, as above, we don't really give a ####.
Category #1 cares if you really like the custom role-specific magic pants they gave you; they also care (sometimes) if some other retard says you only got those magic pants because you were their dog's roommate.
I'm just pointing this out because I'm not sure if anyone but me has noticed that the imms that sometimes take things personally and the imms that do the things that players notice and like are almost always the same people.

and just for the record. The ADULTS comment was aimed at all the not-behind-the-scenes people (ie. players) that read into the posts made on the forums.
For instance, whoever spurned this whole thing in the first place by apparently mentioning stuff in character.
However, I suppose it could equally apply to immortals. It's hard to ever comment on anything immortal specific since you know, I don't have knowledge of what goes on in Asgard.

People have said a lot of terrible things about Raybaer and that's uncalled for.
She is seeming like a good person to me and since we don't get to pick who we fall in love with, I'm glad you two got married and had a baby because of a game we all cherish.
Keep up the good work.
And I think that Tsunami is a good player too. I'm not sure I am reading right but he is a good player and might be miffed but he says it in a good way.
Hope your baby is better.

I don't think either of the guys in question has played in a long time, but both started back in '94 and tended to be the kind of people to start a character that would quietly run something like 40-1 with something half-oddball before deleting at 100 hours in their later years.
God, it's already got to be something like 5-6 years since the best man in our wedding came back for a character, drove Hastur into a meltdown, and promptly fell off the face of the earth again. Good times.

To set the record straight, the imms had zero involvement in the last vote beyond the fact that Zulg's autovote code is kinda dodgy at times.
Not to upset you, but I always thought IMM involvement had some part to play in the voting too. As in, if someone got the most votes, Nexus IMM's may step in for various reasons to promote second most votes, or third most votes. Is that wrong?

At the moment it's all automated.
Technically Rayihn/Daevryn/Twist are in Nexus and do get a vote like anyone else if we want to take it, but to the best of my knowledge none of us ever have so far.

People keep saying there is something wrong with it...but nobody has specifics. I looked through the bug board and fixed the thief voting problem, but that wouldn't even affect Nexus voting. If there's stuff that's wrong, let me know and I'll investigate.
Almost half of Nexus placed votes for Rhyme & Meter this time...so on the surface it looks like this is working just fine.

That's wrong. It's all automated, even in the case of a tie. The way you'd probably see Immortal intervention is just making someone Rhyme or Meter instead of actually calling a vote.
So long, and thanks for all the fish!

I would vote for Gdot and it would tell me Gdot is not one of the people you can vote for for Meter for example. I could vote for Schorie though (the only candidate that preexisted Allysia) For Rhyme I could only vote for Allysia.
And this was the message I got when I voted for anyone that was not created before Allysia.
If that's by design so be it, I just never knew and never saw anything referencing that so as to think you had limits on who could be voted for.

Was Gdot in the list of candidates (from the vote list command)?

I don't even understand what that means.

Yes, Gdot was in my list. All mages were.
Allysia was rolled in december and joined nexus in january. When I voted for candidates that were created/inducted after that point, I got the message saying the were not a someone I could vote for.
I"m not sure if it involved me getting booted and coming back at all, but other people told me that could not vote for certain people. It seems like people that get inducted after (or possibly created after) could not be voted for, even though their name was on the list.

If it was always predating the vote to the first vote a char was eligible for, that would explain why it wouldn't let you vote for more recent inductees, because they did not exist at that time so could not be voted for.
Thanks Zulgh.

You were always upbeat and you took a lot of bad things really well and just kept on going from what I saw.
Not sure how overtly deadly you were, you actually seemed even more peaceful than me most of the time, but I am quite positive you were one of the reasons Nexus stayed strong for so long, along with Pug.
Was great running with you when I had the chances. And invoker bonds are not all that great since they can already shield people, but damn to they make a great third wheel to a bonded pair in a raid. Sort of like a bard does

I was hoping this wouldn't happen, but I figured there was a pretty good chance. I'm really sad I didn't get to talk to you post-vote. You were awesome from every perspective that I saw, and I wish we had been able to run around more together!
We found out pretty quick that Puhguly had been spoiled having you around a lot of the time (many a 'I don't remember this being so hard'), and for all the talk about shifters.. I think I prefer invoker bonds!

I honestly hoped that it wasnt true when someone told me this happened. You were literally the only thing that kept me from deleting a long long time ago. So thank you for helping me stick to a character that I almost threw away. It was truly an honor and a pleasure to take the empty Nexus and turn it into a force with you.
