This was just a goof around character, really, and it worked out well for that. I would have liked to hero and get the cloudmage edge I'd saved all my points for, but I need to be focusing on some other projects right now. I've got another role ready to go for when I feel like committing to a serious character, but for now I'm on a little bit of a break.

Here's a few things I learned:

It's almost but not quite possible for one invoker to keep a significant portion of each city burning. Incendiary cloud helps a ton, and I think with the cloudmage edge it would probably be almost possible, but I couldn't quite do it. Which makes sense, since fire is mostly annoying.

Outlander is a really fun cabal, but I don't think I could play a serious character in it, unless I played a healer and cheesed my RP to avoid being wanted before hero. Outlander cabal requirements are brutal for the way I like to play. Between not being able to just "heal disease" at a town healer and dealing with being wanted all the time. I don't think it's unbalanced or anything, but I can't handle the mob deaths and gear stripping on a real character.

Four path invokers without wands are still meat for warriors. At lower levels I sniped a kill or two with nova, but at higher levels I just couldn't out-damaging anyone anymore, even with weave up and getting an immolation off. But that's fine, four path invoker is a gimmick build. Of course, I could never do an invoker with more than four paths, since that would mean a degree of botting that would get me denied (even with 4 paths you have to bot some things, like shields).

Thanks to everyone who made it fun, allies and enemies alike. My enemies were almost all pretty cool, and my allies were generous with their time and fun to be around.

If this is your level of impatience, I have no idea how you play this game at all. I have more patience than death, so I do not even consider 7 path to be a big deal other than a couple of the more retarded spells (looking at you, drown/immolate/geyser), but having played a 4 path, its basically a 1/5 chance on pretty much any cast to get a skill up, so if you actually need to bot for that, you might want to consider some treatment for your adhd.

Maybe you should seek treatment for your ocd. Call me adhd if you want, but ask yourself if devoting "more patience than death" to a video game is really a sound life choice. I mean, if you're not having fun, is it really the best thing you could be doing with your free time?

Also your 1/5 estimate is way off. Review the following log for just a part, it's all I could stand editing, but it goes on and on like that.

Besides, it's not like I'd turn on the bot and go to the store or something. In the log below I was conversing on CB the whole time while my bot happily ran, so I was paying full attention to the interesting parts of the game while ignoring the stupid parts. I wasn't even breaking the rules as I understand it. But on a occasion I do change a diaper, or make a sandwich, or watch a movie and leave my client mutually masturbating with another program running in Texas. And on those occasions I feel a little bad for breaking the rules because that's not nice, but I think that it's a victimless crime so I don't get too down on myself for it.

Sure, I could sit there paying close attention to mashing a button over and over for an hour or whatever, but why I do that? If I'm going to do something incredibly boring and tedious, I'll paint my house or one of a dozen other neglected projects more productive than accumulating points in a video game. When there's any reason to be, I can be very patient and persistent, but that's not how I choose to spend my leisure time.

You're right about one thing, though; I'm not very good at this game and I never will be. There are several ways I'm disadvantaged by an unwillingness to endure drudgery for a success in a video game (I basically won't ever search for wands, e.g). My refusal to devote any significant time to practicing skills is just one factor that hampers my success in this game. And I'm okay with that. I'd rather be bad and have fun than be great and be bored. If I ever stop having fun in CF then I'll just stop playing.
