Chapter 6

Elza, as her colleagues and friends often to refer to her as, has learned so much since the
trust shown in her that allowed her to serve the cities in the Tribunal Halls. Her confidence
has grown, as has her understanding of how to implement the Laws that she serves. She often
reflects on her most recent chapters, especially her relationship with the dark knight Moldrak
who once attacked her group in the mausoleum having overlooked Elza's presence, only to nearly
die to Elza had she not fled and dragged her servitors away. She had little trust for him after
that but they have talked often since and he did apologise for the oversight. In time she has
grown to truly respect him, for all he does for the cities and the Tribunal. It is through his
example that Elza has begun to believe in herself more and dare put herself forward for promoted
posts in the Tribunal. It is shocking how quickly a person can be seen as an experienced elder
and so Elza will embrace this responsibility wholeheartedly, if Lady Ishuli deems her worthy.

Gerald, her familiar, has been so very useful at crucial times in Elza's life and so as thanks,
Elza, upon reaching the pinnacle of her guild and being named Planewalker, has bestowed upon him
protective wards and charms so that he may be less preyed upon by villagers and other savages.
He seems quite pleased about it and Elza understands more about him being a part of her rather
than a conjured being from another plane.

Elza also turned her attentions to reducing the chaos in her own life by nuancing her knowledge
of extra-planar travel through her guildmaster. She hopes this will prevent the chaos creeping in
if she feels the need to teleport from the heat of the frying pan and not land in the fire.

She has taken to exploring in her spare time off, gathering information about powerful magical
artifacts that can thin the veil and dampen the fervor and chaotic tendencies of the village
eedjits. She does enjoy the exploration, although the bottomless pits have not been a favourite.
Life, is in fact good as Elza's gaze pours over the silver trinkets on her ankle-bracelet, with
particular focus on the homonculous holding a rainbow and the smiling lips.
'Oh well, Back to work, breaks over!'

Chapter 5

Elzarkipum and her family are awarded refugee status in Galadon, given lodgings, jobs and
most importantly, their freedom. Elzarkipum continues to experiment with releasing her
mind until she realises that a guild in Galadon actually teaches similar magic. They accept
her as a student and she begins to study the art of conjuration. Her family and her are so
grateful to the city that Elzarkipum wants to give back by protecting it herself as one of
the Tribunals. She will never forget all that has happened to her or the suffering that her
body and her family endured, but she feels 'lucky' to have lived through it. The signs have
not gone unnoticed either. The 13th day of captvity when she realised her ability, the 13
patrolmen that came to their rescue and the 13 silvery teeth that now adorn her ankle as
a reminder to stay positive and get through. She also loves when people ask about them as
they are so unusual. Onwards!

Chapter 4

The door to her room flew open and the duergar with the silvery teeth barged in, bleeding
from a wound to his side and his leg. He grabbed her out of bed and held a knife to her
throat, just as two of the patrolmen came through the same door. Words and threats were
exchanged and Elzarkipum knew the two patrolmen would not endanger her further as she saw
them begin to lower their weapons. It was then that she found an extra ounce of courage in
her exhausted body and she flung her elbow back into the groin of her captor.


In that moment a number of things happened. The dagger at her throat nicked the flesh and
it stung like hell. The duergar doubled over in pain and the closest of the two patrolmen
reversed his downward motion of placing his weapon down, into a ferocious upswing of his
cudgel and caught the duergar under the chin, spraying blood and silver teeth everywhere.

Chapter 3

Elzarkipum and her family, if they were still alive, had been kept locked up by the duergar
for more than a week. The duergar with the silvery teeth has shown increasing interest in
her during this time and returned often to visit her in her room. It started with him being
grabby at her ample chest and Elzarkipum steeled herself to deal with his advances. It was
often painful and as time passed it got worse as his appetites grew larger. She continued
to be brave and disappeared into her mind, or so she thought, to help her deal with the
assaults. She would often see it happening from outside of her own body as if she was a
dispassionate casual observer. It happened so often in those 12 days that she had become a
bit of an expert in separating her mind and leaving her body behind that on the 13th day
she took inspiration from the separation and motioned the mind part of herself to exit the
room through the door. It worked and she gasped in astonishment.

She quickly began to explore the other rooms looking for her parents. She found her mother
first and a few rooms over, her father. They were both alive but he looked badly beaten
and her mother too. She reached out to touch her mother's face and was shocked to see her
mother react and look around to see what had happened. This gave Elzarkipum an idea of how
she could help them escape.

After returning to her body, Elzarkipum slept as she felt drained from being in her mind
for so long. When she awoke she used her experience to go into her mind again, leaving her
body resting in the rag-covered cot. She ventured through the building being careful not
to touch any of the duergar on the way, until she found an exit. She ventured out to find
they in an old disused farm on some plains. She headed south and west, desperately seeking
some way to help them end their ordeal. Then her prayers were answered when she came upon
a dozen, no a baker's dozen, patrolmen. She looked at them all and chose carefully the one
she hoped would be the most receptive to her touch.

As she cupped his face the young gnome looked up, stood and walked with the aid or her
guiding touch, following her back to the disused farm. The other 12 guards called to him
and questioned his actions, but when he told them what he felt they just followed out of
respect, loyalty or just curiousity. When Elzarkipum got them close to the farm she felt
herself weaken and so hurried back to her body self in the hope that she had brought them
far enough and indeed she had as the shouts of anger and rage skirled with screams of pain
and anguish.

Chapter 2

Elzarkipum's father had pilfered some of the crystals that were due to be handed over to
the 'Hulla', the current gang that was on top, and used them to pay a memeber of another
rival gang called the 'Tongs'. The Tongs were a duergar faction and so not to ever be
fully trusted, but then no gang was to ever be trusted. They were going to help the family
escape, figuring the loss of the crystal farmer and the income he brings would help weaken
the dark-elven Hulla. The Tongs clearly had no such notion of helping the family escape and
planned to kidnap and hold them until the brought down the Hulla.

The family were kept in barrels and placed on the back of a cart to be escorted to Upper
Cragstone. The journey felt endless, bumpy and Elzarkipum held her courage, praying to the
Lucky Lord Whiysdan to bless them with luck, to deliver them to safety. She constantly
tried to hear the words the carters spoke in the hope of finding some solace in a word that
may reveal a truth or honesty to their destination, but no comfort could be found and so
she had to stay brave and hopeful.

Elzarkipum had somehow managed to fall asleep in the barrel and was unceremoniously brought
back to the waking world with a loud bump as the barrel was rolled off the back of cart.
The lid was prized off as she was grabbed roughly by the neck and dragged out of the barrel.
She was tossed to the ground beside her parents who pulled her closely in a defensive huddle.
As the duergar leered at her chest Elzarkipum pulled her blouse tighter around herself and
her father found courage enough to stand and demand that they be freed as per the deal. He
was swiftly backhanded by the lead duergar who grinned maliciously, showing a hideous array
of silver teeth. They were all different designs, some were star shaped, crescent moons,
spoons, ikons and holy symbols. Elzarkipum was caught staring at them and the duergar must
have clearly taken her curiousity as an invitation. He barked some orders and they were all
taken separately to different rooms. So much for an escape.

Role

Chapter 1

The dark-elves, the duergar and the deep gnomes have squabbled for centuries over who
would run the warrens. The warrens were the deep tunnels at the north-eastern most
edges of the Underdark. It was completely tribal and so the leadership of the warrens
changed with regularity and so the whole place was always in a state of flux and change.

Elzarkipum was only young, but she hated the chaos, the tumult, the uncertainty and her
parents hated it too. So they hatched a plan to escape the warrens and put the tribalism
well behind them. The only problem is that Elzarkipum's father was a much valued crystal
farmer and regardless of which tribe had the current rule of the warrens, they were not
going to allow their means of income to disappear.
