Chapter 6

Dearest Faelyn,

It saddens me to write this as so much time has passed since my last letter
and so much has happened. I worry since I still haven't heard from you but
remain hopeful that you are well. I'm finding it difficult to put into words
all that has transpired in the many months since I last wrote. I am doing my
best to remain positive but I often find it difficult to do so when surrounded
by such loss.

All of my mentors have passed on to their next journey in the heavens and many
of my brothers and sisters of the Light have retired. The Halls of the
Fortress seem more empty lately than ever before, though I must remain strong
as I am now the Elder Prophet of the Light, attempting to fill my dear mentor
Bazz's shoes. My Lady Azorinne has reminded me that they're my own shoes not
Bazz's, to be the best that I may be, and I trust in her faith and guidance. I
must remain strong and be that shining example for others, no matter how
difficult and lonely I find it to be.

I continue to offer guidance and assistance to all who seek it, judging based
on their individual actions and words. Some have come to deserve justice and
have been brought such, though most are not so far gone they do not deserve
mercy. I have often found that mercy bears richer fruit than strict justice,
but sometimes the Chancellor, and some of its subordinants, have unfortunately
leave me no choice. It is not something that I enjoy or prefer, but alas.

I have grown a serious bond and friendship with Bynna, who has become like a
sister to me. What I've learned of her past troubles me so and my heart hurts
that I cannot help heal her pain. It seems to have made her one of the
toughest people that I know and has likely already healed and moved on, though
it was still difficult to read her words upon that scroll. I'm sorry that I'm
sort of rambling now, though it seemed a little therapeutic for me to do so.
Please, do take care of yourself Faelyn, there are many dark and dangerous
places and people in these lands and I am doing my best to prevent others from
having to go through what Bynna has had to endure.

Chapter 5

Dearest Faelyn,

I am slightly sad I haven't heard back from you yet though I hold hope in my
heart that you are in good health and high spirits. So much has transpired
since my last letter, as I write to you from within the heart of the Fortress
of Light, which has become both a sanctuary and new family for me, since I had
to abandon mine. Taking the oaths of the Acolyte has been an enriching
experience, one that I could never have anticipated being so rewarding. I
truly feel like I belong here and it seems that others feel the same as I've
recently been entrusted to more responsibility and faith to shelters others
within the Light's warm embrace.

You will be pleased to hear that my deity, Lady Azorinne, has bestowed upon me
a profound sense of Hope. This newfound holy strength has not only fortified
my resolve but has also strengthened the bond between us. It is a humbling
honor that she places such faith in me to be her champion and I strive each
day to be worthy of this confidence she has instilled in me.

Yet, admist this good news, I must tell you of a recent tragedy that has
weighed upon me so. That dear friend and mentor I spoke of in my last letter,
Vartin, has unfortunately left us, his light finally burning out. Not only was
he a brave templar but also a beacon of wisdom and guidance for me. I only
wish you had the fortune of knowing him as I did, for I'm sure you would have
liked him as well.

As I continue my journey, I must seek guidance from my brothers and sisters on
the ponderings of justice for those that must atone for their sins, while
still managing to remain merciful towards those that are deserving of it. Your
friendship remains a source of great comfort for me and I long for the day
when we can share stories in person again like we used to.

Until then, I shall always keep you in my heart.

Chapter 4

Dearest Faelyn,

My sincerest apologies for not writing sooner. After the incident in Darsylon
in Darsylon, my parents forbade me from returning to the temple to check on
your recovery, but I knew you were in good hands. I simply had to escape my
parents' classism and knew you would take some time to heal. I thought now as
good a time as ever to write.

I have decided to dedicate myself to becoming a Champion of the Templars
guild, so in future incidents such as what happened to you, I'm capable of
doing more than standing by feeling helpless to intervene. I've had to deal
with my internal struggles of fear and hesitance to act, something I continue
to work on each day.

I met a new friend who taught me about a wonderful lady by the name of
Azorinne, to whom I spent many days in prayer studying and seeking guidance.
She blessed me with her presence last eve and empowered me to go forth and
continue being a champion for those who can't speak or act for themselves, due
to fear or any of other plethora of reasons. Beyond just that, be a beacon of
light for all, not just those already pure of heart and intention. I'll admit
the nervousness is still something I am working on overcoming. I was awe
stricken in her presence at first and had trouble finding the words to express
my thoughts and feelings to Lady Azorinne. I felt sheepish at times when
silence held my tongue but I was thankful for my Acolyte brother Vartin who
seemed to help guide me in the right direction.

Look at me rambling. It seems so easy when I can be so candid with you,
Faelyn. I hope to return to the Vale soon to check on your recovery, as I do
miss you so. In the meantime, I must continue my studies and prepare to make a
vow to Azorinne, though I'm certain in my heart what it shall be.

Chapter 3

Unfamiliarity with Food - though I've given up on the exquisite cuisines of
high-society, I've still not learned to cook for myself and have sustained
myself entirely on unleavened bread. Therefore I am often intrigued by simple
or common foods that are new to me.

Anxiety from Praise - often reminding me of the fakeness of high society in
Darsylon, receiving praise makes me uncomfortable and will usually lead to me
deflecting or attempting to change the subject

Join Fortress and eventually become an Acolyte.

Travel and learn more of other Theran cities and cultures, seeking to right
injustices as I come across them.

Seek to effect change in Darsylon, destroying the class system, or at the very
least teaching them some empathy towards those they look down upon.

Chapter 1

Raised in a wealthy Darsylon family, renowned for their political influence
and wealth. I had the best education money could buy and wanted for nothing.
Driven by curiosity, I would frequently roam about the city and surrounding
areas on my own, sneaking out without my parents knowing. I met a young elven
girl, Faelyn, from the Vale and we became fast friends. She taught me much of
the ways they lived and it was quite the eye opener for me. I tried bringing
it up with my parents, dropping subtle hints without giving away what I had
been doing, but every time I broached the subject of the lower class elves and
their treatment, my parents quickly dismissed it and changed the subject,
claiming it was beneath our status. This really put some distance between us
and made me question my place in this world. I struggled with identity and
purpose, torn between my familial duties and what I knew deep inside to be
right and wrong.

It ate at me every day but it wasn't until one fateful morning when I noticed
my friend Faelyn had wandered into Darsylon. I spotted her from across the
marketplace and tried to get her attention. It looked like she was just trying
to buy something nice for her family from one of the shopkeepers, but was
pushed aside, as she clearly didn't look like she belonged. Adding insult to
injury, one of the guardsmen who was defending the stall thought she was
trying to rob the shopkeeper and attacked her when she was already down.
Bloodied and with severe injuries by the time I made it over to her, I helped
her up and rushed her over to the temple and paid for her healing services.
Feeling rather helpless myself, I knew at that point what I wanted to do with
my life.

Later that same day, I marched up to my parents and renounced my privilege,
dedicating my life to serving justice and training to be a champion for the
voiceless. That's when I set out from Darsylon to seek new perspectives and
training in the ways of the Paladin in the great Voralian City.
