Chapter 1

The duty of a royal stormcaster is simple - cause as much material damage to
your foes as physically possible. Whether this is focused on enemy flesh,
encampments, or the very field of battle itself is unimportant. A
historically honored and lucrative role, at the pinnacle of it's mastery the
very living earth itself could be swept away under flood, fire, and
hurricane-force electrical storms. Utilizing natural born affinities, this is
the life I found myself immersed in, and I both gave and received profound
elemental violence in scores of desperate skirmishes. This may have been my
path in perpetuity, until one eventful night found our regiment on the
receiving end of a particularly savage melee. The skies opened in dense
curtains of rain that blinded and choked the men, and blasts of blinding
strokes of lightning tore into our ranks. I still do not know if any survived
aside from myself, I never returned to count the dead. I only know that I
found myself washed up on the banks of swollen river in the midst of a forest
that was foreign to me.I had no choice but to rely on the simple wood craft
resting in childhood memories that I had managed to retain after a life
primarily lived on city streets.

The wooded glade I chose as a place of
recovery and healing proved to be my salvation. The quiet allowed me to
comprehend the elemental songs, and I finally heard the soft melody of my
spirit join these canticles when I channeled the primal flows into
spellcraft. It was clear to me then that the way forward was far from the
busy streets, and instead through the softer harmonies of sky, land , and
water.
