Chapter 1

It is a difficult conundrum I reflect upon. So far in my
life I have attacked darkness in the cities a few times now.
Each time I have knowingly and willingly drawn a flag, puting
first the downfall of the dark soul. But as soul after soul
is sent against me to bring me to justice, those of pure heart,
I can't help but ask if its for the greater good? I am not
a child in the hunt, perhaps it is a burden that I must
wait for the darkness to leave the cities? I have no love
for the laws. Perhaps then the answer is that I be pragmatic.
It will be tough, but I should take down evil when it will
not put hundreds of light holding citizens against me. It is
a frustrating choice. Each and every time, I'd give all my things
to have a warrant done away with. That is of little concern.
But I must not have my body weaken in the long war ahead.
It is with care I must pick my city battles more carefully
less I draw too many of the light into needless conflict.

Chapter 2

Today I was visited by a spirit that offered me words that
lightened my heart, but also left me a bit confused. It seems
that the dark horrors I witnessed were part of a waking dream.
Though it seemed so real!
Yet I'm told that even though I watched unicorns slain before
my very eyes, it was party of a vision of the great evil that
can be visited upon the purehearted.

It was at the divine forge of Lord Aarn that this spirit made
itself known to me. While I am hopeful to hear that the unicorns
survived, I grow concerned of the evil that this portends. Does
this warn me to grow greater in power? So I am not impotent to
stop great evil when it comes upon myself or others pure of heart?

The spirit left these words and let reality be known, but left
me in a quandry. The unicorns are the model I follow, pure of heart
and cherishing of the forests, but perhaps now I must seek
the Greater Gods of Light to give me further power against evil. It seems
that the unicorns do not posess the power to further me further
along my divine path. If it is so, I shall keep remember that
the Way of the Unicorn is the compass to which I hold, yet perhaps
the Pantheon of Light will guide me to the power to fight Great Evil.

Indeed, the benevolent spirit left me with these words, a hint perhaps:

"'The dwarven lord whose shrine you stand before, as well as the Phoenix
who soars the bright skies, and the Mother of the Moon all hold
protection over us, my child'"

Chapter 3

On the Day of the Sun, 34th of the Month of Frost Giant:

Long have I believed there to be no room for wasteful
destruction in this world. I oppose even those of the dark
outlanders who refrain from harming nature but ultimately
grow its power and indirectly cause harm.

Today a great trickster and evil spirit came to me, was it
the darkest of the ancients, who has deceived a small portion
of the outlanders that its path is a viable one? I do not
question its power, it was of such great malevolence that I
could not yet begin to oppose it. It is tough to not grow
bitter at my own lack of strength in protecting the unicorns.

I had to stand by helplessly as it slayed unicorn after unicorn without
purpose. For what cause? Creatures who protect so much of
nature, and are wise as the ages?

This spirit was of great evil and would send corpse after corpse
to me until I staggered beneath the weight. I have never
before given myself to rage, but truly this day, a rage began
to grow in me such as I have never known. It energizes me
further along my path, I will see such evil as this opposed.

Let it be known that I will never forget the Way of the Unicorn,
and I shall hold true to it always. But I shall use the rage
that I found this day, a day that I could do nothing, and with
it I shall carry myself along the path I must venture.

Chapter 4

Personal Reflections into the Way of the Unicorn.

*Annihilation of Darkness*
1) Darkness and Evil Malevolence is a scourge on this world.
2) Those of darkness are the greatest threats to the natural world.
3) Those of dark intent, whom refrain from direct harm to nature, ultimately
and indirectly cause great harm to it as they strengthen others of darkness
in the world and weaken the light.
4) Destroy evil wherever its found, pierce its heart, and leave the world to
those of benevolence and those not given to the sway of evil.

*The Light and its place in the world*
1) The Way of the Unicorn shows that the greatest overseer of the forest, can
be the purest of lightwalking creatures.
2) From the forest guardians to the nymphs and dryads, nature always has a
place in its heart for benevolent creatures.
3) To foster and protect the light is to strengthen the fight against
darkness.
4) Always seek to protect and defend those of the light, as darkness is the
greatest scourge on this world.

*Delicate Priorities of the Unicorn*
1) Pierce darkness and defend the light formost.
2) Always give reverence to the land and embrace nature.
3) When those of light seek to harm nature, seek to sway their minds.
4) Respect those of the Druid Circle always. They will not understand the
Priorities of the Unicorn, but you fight the scourge of darkness, the true
danger to the world that they do not see.
5) Fight this darkness, that is the obligation put on those who follow the
unicorn and them alone of natures children. Inside this framework, seek to
embrace nature when it does not oppose the Way of the Unicorn.

Chapter 5

Alyre is a daughter without a family. No other name of family is known to
her and likely never shall be. If you asked her, she would see the unicorn
that raised her in her youngest of years as the only family she ever knew.
For the few who do know her story, it is left to wonder...is it truly
possible that this young girl was raised by a unicorn? or was it simply the
imagination of a child? Was she a girl too young to remember otherwise,
abandoned without civilization or a normal family? Did her mind create this
fabulous tale for survival and sanity?

For Alyre, she holds it as true. Reguardless, the end results are the same
and her beliefs unchanging. She has given herself completely to purity and
the light. She sees no place for darkness in the natural world. While many
animals are indifferent to the struggle between light and darkness, there is
always room for the most benevolent of spirits within its design, but never
those of darkest evil. No evil...at least in natural creation....comes into
existance without a willful act of choice. Evil and those who choose the
path of darkness are lost in the design. Even the most ferocious of nature's
creatures do not posess such malevolent intent.

Like the unicorn, which symbolizes much of Alyre's beliefs, she seeks to
counter the darkness which spreads through the land. She considers her
creation into this world and place among the light as part of creations
design to counter the darkness in the world. Like the unicorn who holds
purity high and seeks to pierce the heart of evil, Alyre seeks to be a force
for good that counters the darkness which is dangerous to all the world....a
threat to the civilized and even the deepest of the wilds.

At the time of Alyre's coming of age, many talk of the power of the Fortress
and the diminished darkness of the Empire and Scion. Alyre however looks to
the horizon. On it she sees the brewing storm clouds of darkness and night.
Does darkness grow up even now among the ranks of those evil powers? Is it
true the talk of druids who have given themself over to the night and shadow?
Whether it comes soon or late, she stands ready for the coming darkness,
hoping to break through if even the smallest ray of sunrise....
